  • fake and gay he would die

  • @pupzfolife12

It's not fake man... He got himself out the first time on his own... He's just proving a point... This is educational so LEARN from it...

  • when i fell in ice the first thing i did was shit my pants lost my shoe and then flew up in the air like a airplane and got the fuck out :D :L

  • This is great tips for my area mainly.

  • "Finally, the professionals slide in to help him out!"

    I was like: "WTF? :'D"

  • First Youtube video that I actually learned something..

  • Check out "ice escape" if you are exposed in these kinda of situations.

  • Great video I had no idea it was possible to get out without ice picks which I imagine very few ppl travel with, and I didn t know about the 1-3 minute cold water response or that you had more than 2 minutes to get out, so slow and steady wins the race even for falling through ice apparently thanks for posting....ice fishing fan and skier here

  • wow this was very helpful i feel smarter :D

  • the scientist expert on cold would be canadian lolol

  • i dont know why im watching this....there isnt even snow in my country...

  • @blackishpinkable

HEY but you might travel or move somewhere else.... And fall through ice...

  • @blackishpinkable same here lol

  • honestly im not saying to anyone fall true ice or giving bad luck but to all people who leaving funny comments i hope you guyis will survive this onec in your life so you will aventually understand how dangerous and how curious you must be on ice.

  • I know what to do if u fall, GTFO

  • @WhuupHisBehind wonder if you can't swim?

  • Thank you for this. I'm on the ice often and it's nice to actually see how it's done. More helpful than reading a dozen books on it.

  • That's my professor he loves talking about this

  • 1. turn on closed captions

    2. skip to 1:52

    3. read caption

    4. laugh

  • Press 6

  • haha i went on a canoe trip with him

  • So if the hole is too small and you can't get your legs horizontal to kick, how do you get out?

  • @kodiak1966 Then chances are you wouldn't have fallen through. Your body has to be heavy enough to break through the ice at a given point, and usually breaks the ice around it. lf that does happen, you can still use the same techniques, but you'll be better off, as you'll have more leverage because your arms will be closer to your core as you lift. Put your hands on either side, push up, lean/flop forward. lf you still struggle after you're mostly out, roll onto your back and sit up and scoot.

  • I can't believe you people thumbing down the video and leaving all these hateful comments. This actually happened to me, and it was the scariest moment of my life. I thought it was the last moment actually. This man is better than you will ever be for WILLINGLY going through that again and again just t help other people.

  • "I've got a ladder here"

  • @dsherret

I laughed my ass off at that part hahaha

  • Find an object to get them out...like an extension cord!

  • Fuck all of you that say anything negative about this movie. What that guy did took balls of steel. He did this because it was his life's ambition to save lives and educate all of you so that you might not die some day. Seriously, where the fuck do you people come from?

  • me and my friend were walking on the ice at the lake today...i told him not go to into the middle and he does. so he falls in and i try to pull him out and the ice ends up breaking under my feet and i pulled myself out of it took off all of my clothes...yes its weird but u stay warmer...i told him to take his clothes off and he just wants to sit there in the frozen water and ask y...then i ran and luckily there was a truck comming the way....lesson learned! DO NOT WALK ON ICE THAT ISNT 5IN THICK

  • Ive got a better idea, DONT WALK ON THE FUCKING ICE!!!

  • This really helps me out. I want to go out on the ice now. I think some ice sticks will help for sure.

  • 8:02-8:13...wtf? this guy is crazy

  • Never thought about running to a near by home for ladder, rope....

    Excellent video.

  • People that are commenting about him using a ladder or extension cord and saying "Yeah, right. He just happened to have those items in the middle of nowhere." need to rewatch the video and pay attention to whats said. He says these are things that can be found at nearby homes if this happens in a rural area. Not in the middle of nowhere.

  • when he said he cant get out, all the crew shoulda packed up and left

  • mad props for the guy

  • lol i got a ladder here! lol who the heck would have a ladder in the middle of nowhere..

  • @b0uGhTbYChrist He said if your in a rural area where there maybe a pond this happens in, you could find things like a ladder etc... Pay attention.

  • this was actually helpful

  • Dr Gisbrek? should visit the gym more often ;)

No, excellent video. Wouldn't have thought about what to do without this. Cheers!

  • hey look i RANDOMLY got you a ladder and a extention cord , they ws just laying on the ice perfectly waiting to be used!

  • @glennsibz In that portion of the video they were saying things like a ladder or extension cord could be used if this happened in a rural area close to where people live. Pay attention.

  • I live in san deigo.. not sure why i watched this.. but it was helpful! haha

  • HERE! Use this extension cord I brought along for teh lulz!

  • He,s wear palstic jacket... that means the water reach your skin slowly.... Try jump into NAKED..... if you survive it you are tough.

  • @Survivorguy74800 If you take ice cold baths everyday (never warm), you will build a resistance to cold. I would like to test jumping into that water naked.

  • @jeisonfura Yes your right but if you jump into this than the cold shock can reach you... never mind the cold resistance. Just maybe you are not suffering from ice water so much.

  • @Survivorguy74800 Well shit I ain't gonna go skiing in cold ass 30 or less degree weather without a fucking plastic jacket. Are you retarded? Who's gonna wear just cloth to go ski or snowboard, even at a resort that's stupid.

  • @pikachuhat I know i know, but a few survivor do it naked.

  • @pikachuhat If you are in the middle of a town at a lake then some one can MAGICALLY BRING ONE!! Stupid.

  • GOOD JOB !!!

  • wow, now thats a video i can appreciate!!! Best info ive seen! Well, the first would be just stay off the ice, butttttt..........

  • here rap the rope around your head

  • He's rolling about meanwhile the camera man is walking beside him x)

  • That's amazing... thank you !

  • this was totally helpful...

  • That guy is a fucking idiot.

  • thank you bear grills

  • very helpful thank you

  • Recently i had a friend die from falling through the ice, he was just taking pictures, he was a really smart guy it makes no sense that kinda thing could happen to him.

  • Thank you Dr. Gordon!

I love to ice fish in Nebraska, The other day i was fishing with my brother and several friends. I drilled my ice fishing holes and started drilling another series of holes. The ice broke without any warning myself and the auger went straight down, i was totally submerged under the ice, I looked up and swam up as fast as i could. I believe your video helped me keep my head straight and was able to escape, my friend pulled my brother and myself out of the hole!!!

  • the minute you fall through all this crap goes right out the window

  • @DoubleAgent244 yeah i think you start thinking of this afther you exhausted yourself trying to get out =o

  • Major mistake...The good doctor has overlooked the fact that he should have suggested using the ends of his skl poles as tools for escape. Grip the poles at the bottom, just above the spikes and use them like ice spuds that ice fisherman usually carry. He forgot that one...OOPS!

  • Actually, I think what the ice fisherman carry for this are called 'awls', not spuds...OOPS to myself. :-)

  • I am shocked that a person travelling over ice isn't equipped with ice claws - are those not familiar in North America? In the Nordic countries I'd say that no one enters any frozen lake, pond or river without those. You cannot count upon someone being there to pull you out of the water, and without ice claws you will mort likely not be able to pull yourself up. So, ice claws are a very cheap and efficient life insurance!

  • This is not for skiers this for general everyday and so he was teaching you the basic.

  • Nope, not everyone has skis when fall under the ice.

  • @Ashitaka255 and for Kanechart too...LOL! I don't ski either, but many hikers use hiking poles in the winter (as I do). This was a video about survival and when you teach survival, you instruct people to use whatever is at hand and he had poles. It was an option (along with all the other valuable info) that should have been pointed out.

  • were r we supposed to find a ladder in ice or a branch in ice or rope in ice

  • i just did and surrivied

  • I fell through the ice on a frozen creek a few years ago. Soon as I fell through I went under and swam back up and broke the ice and then kept breaking it real violently until I was able to make it back to the bank.

  • Wow, a productive youtube video....I FEEL WEIRD!

  • haha lol

  • @Squish888 me too

  • were the fuck you gunner get a ladder lol!!

  • I would assume most people who fall through the ice do it in a urban/suburban environment. small ponds in a local park or neighborhood.

  • Lmao ktalent08...

I was thinking the exact same thing. Extension Cord?? WTF???

What are you going to do, run out into the woods and grab one that just happens to be lying around?

    lol, too funny.

  • yer theres loads of extension coards in the middle of a frozen lake

  • iv herd but this may sound stupid wen u get out to keep warm rub snow on yourself

  • this happened to me today I was walking along and my friends were shouting after me but I could not hear them. next thing I know im under the ice and flipping cold. thankfully the current was not that strong I could crawl out but I was scared as hell!!!!

  • he should have showed what to do once you're out.. still good video though.

  • @laurence265: if you are out you do exactly: nothing

  • Lmao relax in a cold tub XD

  • im gonna fav this video its a good thing to know...

  • Thanks a lot for this great vid and lesson. :-) ... Now I know what to do if I see someone or if it happens to me

  • as helpfull or un helpfull as this clip may have been it is still a good thing to know. you could be driving down the road and see some kids playing on a pond (which many do) and one falls through.... you wont be any help to the kid of you cant even save your self.. infact you would probably both dround!! just goes to show that people like most of those who comented on this clip dont see that a tidbit of info could save their own kids life if not their own. its funny, all they did is talk shit!!

  • Wow, stop trying to be smart, this shows enough, all you people who try to be smart acually makes you seem like retards, annoying retards.

  • ppl who are leaving comments saying people are dumb or w.e saying that he shouldnt be doing this and that people should be more carful. your right, but this video is very good, because you never know where or when ice can break beneth you, sorry for the bad spelling but ... yah:)

  • fail

  • Yes you do.

  • first of all, you shouldn't be an idiot and go on a body of water when the weather temperature is clearly getting warmer (in the spring). you can check the thickness of the ice by drilling through it until you hit water. The stupidity of people will never cease to amaze me.

  • it can be below 0 and you can still fall through the ice.... theres springs maybe a current.... and warm spot.... the list goes on and on buddy.... just because you fall through the ice doesn't mean ur stupid.... ice is unpredictable.

  • well shouldn't you not be an idiot and know where the current is flowing under the body of water you are on? you should know all conditions about a lake before you just "jump" on top of the ice and lakes follow patterns. weak areas one year on the ice will be weak the next year, things you should know BEFORE stepping foot on the ice. There may be different factors like rain increase or decrease from one season to the next that will effect ice patterns. Things you should think of BEFORE!

  • your right but sometimes things happend and...though your 90% right

  • Hear is some very informative information about falling though Ice? Stay the Hell away from frozen Lakes and ponds.

  • This is a very informative video.

  • this vid is amzingly instructive...love it 5 stars

  • screw this i listen to bear grylls

    the true surviver man =D

  • Its not bear grylls

  • Gee not like im going to fall in water today

But something tells me i should bring a 20ft ladder and a extension Cord incase this just Somehow happens, That would totally be smart

  • your timing sucks!

  • Lol i falled trough ice one time, my phone died :(

  • i fell through ice today it was like 15 feet deep water it was scary and it was like 10 degrees water

  • if it was 10 degrees wouldn't it be frozen

  • not if the water has a current, the only reason the top freezes is because of wind.

  • because of wind

  • yea ur right i was over reacting cause of wht happened it probably was like 25 degrees or 30 but it felt really cold

  • no its probably in celsius not fahrenheit

  • my dads uncle fell through the ice and lost his snomobile but it was old and hes alive :D

  • boring

  • blah

  • It's not really easy as it seems, panic and fright comes first (i think for most people) .it happened to me when i was about five. i drowned and lost consciousness. So please try not to bring children in places like this =(

  • every one should pay attention to this

  • "oh wait ill help you" *searches pocket* "oh snap i found.."*pulls out huge 20 ft ladder* "this culd b useful" who the hell carries around a ladder or an extension cord >.>

  • I carry a chain in my truck, an extension cord, this was meant for the outdoorsman, especially those of us who ice fish, so instead of being a dickhead why don't you delete your comment, and yourself while you're at it.

  • y dont you lay off the pot and fucking watch the video you moron this actualy help and i always bring a rope or cord it saved my life you dumbasses

  • "hey, i got a ladder here!"

  • yeah as if i would have a cord with me in the middle of a frozen lake.

  • i always bring a ladder or a cord with me whenever i leave my house. sure the ladder is a little heavy but it might pay off at some point in my life

  • aint it kind of obvious what to do if u fall through the ice ye....

    GET OUT duh

  • lol yeah but this tells you how to get out

  • Well this was nice. but a bit complicated. Like when a university guy get his hand on something. I did this in the military. whe jumped into the whole in the ice. and calmed down there and asked the officer if we could go up. then we went. No one failed. to get up. its kind of natural. some used their knife and others didn´t. No problem.

  • are you joesapy

  • lol, what a heap of bullshit

  • This is actually a good thing to know, i live in a lake so im scared all the time that im going to fall in,, so thankyou i know what to do. i would have kicked and screamed lol

  • You live IN a lake..? Really? O_o

    I'd be so scared.

  • wtf how do u live "in a lake"

  • lmao, you're poor and can't afford a house or even a box on land

  • good to know

  • the funny thing is i just watched this vid and then it happened a day later

  • Great information "just in case" - thank you!

  • 5* though, very useful.

  • hes wearing REAL thick clothing, whilste most people wear jeans, trackies, and a jumper... so it wud be alot colder for most ppl.

  • id suggest watching bear grylls he does it in jeans and a shirt hes the greatest survival man ever

  • ok cool thanks, i only want to know because where i live the canal and river is frozen over, so just incase me or any of my friends do happen to fall in : )

    ill check it out.

  • thank you for the info bro^^ this might save someones live.

  • Good advice...basically keep your wits about you and remain calm~

  • wow. great video and very informative. Thanks for posting.

  • her words and mouth are delayed lol

  • That's kind of dangerous!....

  • a barrel roll...

  • really usefull, i'm gonna go fall in a cold bath now!! :)

  • quite interesting and informative video. thanks a lot doc, and the uploader.

you can never know what life brings. i will keep these in my mind, especially the part saying to hold arms on the ice to let them freeze to the ice.

  • Good thing, we dont have snow here hahahaha

  • would it be better if i were to pee my pants in the water? not that my johnson would be able to perform any actions being so cold... but i was just thinking baout it while watching this video lol

  • lmao, that was probably the coolest thing i've heard all week, thanks haha, you made my day xD

  • I AM NOT GOING NEAR ICE IN THE WATER

  • haha roll away, roll away

  • wtf illeegal?

  • jennarocker ice is slippery, so u cant climb out idiot

  • well I'm keeping that in mind XD

    really interesting video here

  • oo 1-3 minutes i was woried for a sec.....

  • Tremedous gift given to us thanks to this doctor and those who helded put this together
