@MonkeymagicsMum, I'm not certain what sort of response you were looking for when you emailed Sheila, but it sounds a bit like like you expected her to refute the benefits (or necessity, as you put it) of cesarean birth. Sheila's video response is a '20,000 foot view,' which is appropriate coming from an anthropologist and educator - it sounded to me like she would wish us to have more evidence-based care, including cesareans as appropriate (but only WHEN appropriate).

Sheila is all about fuzzy, happy, straightforward births, where everything goes according to textbook, but when I emailed her about her ideas and experiences of caesareans she had nothing to say. Believe it or not, women will always need caesareans, like it or not, because things don't always go to plan. If she can improve NATURAL births, then she can impact on caesareans and make them more client-focused too. Shouldn't ALL women be empowered, and have good memories of childbirth?
