They all want to experience jim, but the truth is we lost that wonderful soul on earth , he has returned to the source...So we experience him as a collective thought, as this video exemplifies this. this isnt bad cover, but i feel like the singer would sound better if he was drunk or something. he just sounds tense. he needs to feel the music more. it almost sounds like hes singing just cuz its a job, not for the music. thats just my opinion.

Nahh, Cover Bands are brilliant.

I'm 15, and I never got to see the likes of The Doors, Led Zeppelin etc..

But I love to listen to cover bands play there stuff live.

Obviously it's not as good, hence the reason it's also not as expensive.

But I'd rather go and see a classic rock cover band than most of these bands today, who are complete posers who make lethargic music..In my opinion anyway.

Doors tribute bands shouldn't have bass players. The keyboardist should be handling it with a Fender Rhodes.

Well,Ray used the Rhodes piano bass live. My band uses it and it sounds great. You are right about songs like LA WOMAN though. We do have a guest bass player for that one. It does need that serious push that the rhodes does sometimes lack.

And even on the studio-versions of tracks like "the end" or "when the music`s over", there is no bass-guitar, only the fender piano bass and it sounds great.

@kualalumpi: The "kept" not all the time. They had bass players at some of their concerts in 1970, when Jim was still alive. And they ALWAYS had bass players in all their concerts after Jim had passed, be it in 1971 and 1972 or in the nearer past (as Doors of the 21st Century or Riders On The Storm or Manzarek/Krieger).
