Great video, albeit with a little too much chatter. Tell me; what is "like a dollar"? Is that a monopoly money dollar, or just 99 cents? Both of those are *like* a dollar, but not a dollar, nonetheless. This "like" word is extremely over-used by Americans & teenagers, and it's quite meaningless, as it has no relevant context.
I like this, like, like... if you (like) know what I mean (like).
I got a Snes from my uncle the other day, whole bottom part of the console is a dark-piss yellow, and I don't have one of those dumb screwdrivers, damn.
I forgot to add I used glycerin as well, which is in the original recipe but not in the arrowroot recipe. It made the paste much less opaque and more moist.
I did this today using arrowroot which does need to be heated up to create a jelly it also needs to be warm to assist the oxy to mix in well other wise you will end up with little lumps of oxy. Thanks for taking the time to upload the video, it really helps to watch this being done, especially if, like me, you are a visual learner.
Thank you for sharing. I will definitely try this on my Super Nintendo, and anything else that suffers the same stupid yellow effect. Now I learned the solution to this hellish problem. Really, thank you!
Hillarious, guy is freaking dangerous. Put on goggles, an full mask and gloves. Also should not be doing this inside, do it outside or with very good ventilation.
Damn 5mins of just mixing , could have cut that down , I hear piss works just as well with the amonia reacts to the plastic and returns to original colour ( tip don't piss on it when it's still plugged in )
I saw the actual forum where these guys came up with this, they showed some experimentation with some G1 transformer figures, they actually dipped their figures entirely into the peroxide solution..from what I understood mixing it with other stuff actually prolonged and diluted the effect, making it much harder to remove the yellowing....the morning sun played a huge role in reversing the yellowing though while dipped in this 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide..the results where stunning pure whi

Yeah, I totally didn't expect mine to be perfect, but figured it'd be something to just try and use up a normally boring evening. :D
I think I'm going to get mine black... as well as one of my extra NESs so that everything matches in my room. Not that it's organized enough to matter what color anything is... LOL
yoshi... what if I start with a UV sealant for a new piece of plastic? Also, what kind of UV sealants are available? Will they leave a film or will they do any damage to the plastic (I collect model toys).... thanks in advance for the reply.
Well, you don't need to use the hydrogen peroxide for new plastic, obviously, so just coat it with the sealant once and you should be good. To my knowledge, there aren't any sealants that leave any sort of coat after you use them, and they won't cause any damage. And you should probably find a sealant designed specifically for rubber or plastic.
I agree. But if I only said the main points I'd get thousands of questions about little stupid things that people can't figure out on their own instead of just hundreds of questions.
now i add 60% of one pack of starch.. when i start mixing, it's glue, but in second it's like water :( sorry for my english, i take a photo, wait a second

will this work for clear plastic as well as white? I am trying to restore my taillights on my '86 mercedes.
gracer99 1 month ago
@gracer99 Perhaps. Are they actually yellowed or just fogged? Have you tried the procedure for fogged lamps? It could just be a hazed oxidation?
I am curious.

The stuff you're using BLEACHES the console, bleache nakes stuff colorless and white, you wont get the grey color back using this method!
It WILL nake white back to white, eg control pads and stuff, well the european/Australian ones anyway.
I'm guessing yu watched the French video? our's look like that and are/were, WHITE, not grey so it will work on them
Happy New Year and cheers for the video.

The main ingredient in "Oxy Clean" or anything like that is Soda Ash- I'm willing to bet that's what you actually need.
Sometimes you can just buy Soda Ash- NOT BAKING SODA!!!
People use it to dye clothing, so that's probably a good path.
