  • Dude, your voice is so smooth, you could probably lull hungry lions to sleep.

So I was taken out of my element when you dropped an F-word... 3:20

    Ha! Great vids.

  • I came across this video, and then noticing that I was subscribed to you.

Now, after seeing a good, detailed and helpful vid I realize why I had originally subbed you, for some other great vid I'm sure.

  • Great video, albeit with a little too much chatter. Tell me; what is "like a dollar"? Is that a monopoly money dollar, or just 99 cents? Both of those are *like* a dollar, but not a dollar, nonetheless. This "like" word is extremely over-used by Americans & teenagers, and it's quite meaningless, as it has no relevant context.

I like this, like, like... if you (like) know what I mean (like).

  • @unlokia It's just a part of modern youth American dialect. I admit, the usage of "like" so often is super unfortunate.

  • Great video, thanks for taking the time to do it. You should do audio books, your voice is awesome :)

  • will this work for clear plastic as well as white? I am trying to restore my taillights on my '86 mercedes.

  • @gracer99 Perhaps. Are they actually yellowed or just fogged? Have you tried the procedure for fogged lamps? It could just be a hazed oxidation?

    I am curious.

  • @alecjahn is it worth doing this to the controllers?

  • what if i just spray painted over that?

  • @PeppersOnChili Then you'd have a spray-painted SNES. This was an experiment in restoration, not modification.

  • The man has a soothing voice. Screw all you haters!

  • If I use that on my guitar's pickguard, will it work too?

  • 5:04 the worst noise ever...

  • The stuff you're using BLEACHES the console, bleache nakes stuff colorless and white, you wont get the grey color back using this method!

It WILL nake white back to white, eg control pads and stuff, well the european/Australian ones anyway.

I'm guessing yu watched the French video? our's look like that and are/were, WHITE, not grey so it will work on them

Happy New Year and cheers for the video.

  • I got a Snes from my uncle the other day, whole bottom part of the console is a dark-piss yellow, and I don't have one of those dumb screwdrivers, damn.

  • This video went viral on Myanmar

  • Q: would this cure the yellowing of/on a Commodore 64 ?

  • Good bid! Eff measurements

  • TEASPOON!!!

  • A REVERSABLE chemical reaction?! I new it was possible! take that chemistry class!

  • =O thares a drug store =D

  • The main ingredient in "Oxy Clean" or anything like that is Soda Ash- I'm willing to bet that's what you actually need.

Sometimes you can just buy Soda Ash- NOT BAKING SODA!!!

People use it to dye clothing, so that's probably a good path.

  • you guys post a lot of bitchy comments. your lives must suck.

  • use Removex plus and goodbye dust

  • does this work on nylon?

  • Anyone have any idea if this could work on guitar finishes that have yellowed from a similar nitrocellulose finish?

  • I had this on full volume and almost threw my headphones off my head when you slid your SNES across the table. ;__;

  • I forgot to add I used glycerin as well, which is in the original recipe but not in the arrowroot recipe. It made the paste much less opaque and more moist.

  • I did this today using arrowroot which does need to be heated up to create a jelly it also needs to be warm to assist the oxy to mix in well other wise you will end up with little lumps of oxy. Thanks for taking the time to upload the video, it really helps to watch this being done, especially if, like me, you are a visual learner.

  • Dude do you have a ganglion? Get the bible onto that sucker! It's from all those video games tsk tsk.

  • @Insidious1933 No, I'm just anorexic. I also don't really play video games that much, in terms of hours.

  • Heaping TEASPOON or TABLESPOON fulls?

  • Why are you speaking so softly ...are you trying to be quiet so you don't wake up your mom? ;)

  • @utalice When this video was recorded: pretty much.

Actually, I just don't talk very loud. I get a lot of shit for it. :P

  • It's Clint Eastwood.

  • Thanks for making this video.

  • Thank you for sharing. I will definitely try this on my Super Nintendo, and anything else that suffers the same stupid yellow effect. Now I learned the solution to this hellish problem. Really, thank you!

  • WHAT?! YOU CAN'T REMEMBER SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED 2 WEEKS AGO?

Oh wait, I can only remember 1 week.....

  • why did i just trow my snes and nes out years ago?

  • "well... its not water..." Neither is C4.

  • I have to take a hardcore shit now

  • U speak a lot =D

  • @luisjr1611 It happens. :)

  • @alecjahn you are awesome.

  • Hillarious, guy is freaking dangerous. Put on goggles, an full mask and gloves. Also should not be doing this inside, do it outside or with very good ventilation.

  • Mierda de video

  • looks like megatron is getting a facelift

  • Too much talking and going "um". Just give the details and move on.

  • Damn 5mins of just mixing , could have cut that down , I hear piss works just as well with the amonia reacts to the plastic and returns to original colour ( tip don't piss on it when it's still plugged in )

  • I saw the actual forum where these guys came up with this, they showed some experimentation with some G1 transformer figures, they actually dipped their figures entirely into the peroxide solution..from what I understood mixing it with other stuff actually prolonged and diluted the effect, making it much harder to remove the yellowing....the morning sun played a huge role in reversing the yellowing though while dipped in this 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide..the results where stunning pure whi

  • "Soothy little WHUOOAAAA mixture". Awkward much?

  • is this going to work on a european SNES aswell?

  • yeah wearing cloves would be boring... -.-

  • @saguire I did it as an experiment. Just something to do with an evening. Why waste time playing video games? Why have any hobby? Why live at all?

  • @alecjahn and then commit suicide and regret nothing. I'm just kidding, but thanks for the video.

  • @CaptainCrunchityzer :) It works, but it's certainly not perfect, according to my results. thanks for watching!

  • part of this video was used on attackoftheshow kool

  • @mooney12345678910 Whoa, really? Holy shit, never heard about that until now! Weird.

  • 05:05 omg...Argh

  • @montokpoint Hahaha, my bad.

  • I m sure if someday you will be a father and and prepare food for your kid i am sure your kid die from starving! lol

  • basicaly

  • JESUS CHRIST... GET TO THE FUCKING POINT!!!

  • @bombydruful hahahahaa!! yeah! :D

  • 5:05 was terrible! I had my speakers WAY up.

  • leave it to billy mays to save our old consoles from yellowing from beyond the grave, a true american hero!

  • Isn't Bromine also the stuff the Army used to put in soldiers food during WWII to stop them getting randy?

  • will this work with a nes?

  • OMG IT REALLY DOES LOOK LIKE CUM!

  • it should be how to make fake cum man

  • Except this stuff will give you bad chemical burns. How creative.

  • looks like a shit load of sperm

  • Sperm are little single celled organisms, not a gelatinous mixture.

  • @alecjahn i know,that's why i said it LOOKS like sperm.

  • i like his voice

  • its a tea spoon ya jackass lol

  • Well, I stand corrected! Haha

  • man my snes is real discolored, did your snes turn yellow again after you did this ?

  • @espltdm251playa

Y'know, I've had mine in the corner for quite some time now, and yes... It's yellower than I remembered.

  • that sux, im just going to spray paint mine, mine looks like shit next to the nes and genesis, its like a doodoo color

  • Yeah, I totally didn't expect mine to be perfect, but figured it'd be something to just try and use up a normally boring evening. :D

I think I'm going to get mine black... as well as one of my extra NESs so that everything matches in my room. Not that it's organized enough to matter what color anything is... LOL

  • haha i hear ya man, i need to do something with mine, every time i look at it i shake my head, and go eww thats ugly lol

  • if you soak it in hydrogen peroxide and then coat it with a UV sealant, it won't turn yellow again.

  • yoshi... what if I start with a UV sealant for a new piece of plastic? Also, what kind of UV sealants are available? Will they leave a film or will they do any damage to the plastic (I collect model toys).... thanks in advance for the reply.

  • Well, you don't need to use the hydrogen peroxide for new plastic, obviously, so just coat it with the sealant once and you should be good. To my knowledge, there aren't any sealants that leave any sort of coat after you use them, and they won't cause any damage. And you should probably find a sealant designed specifically for rubber or plastic.

  • Haha, I always start out being thorough (less stupid questions), and then it generally gets jumbled and messy. Oh well. :D

  • you over talked....get to the point...I change videos

  • I agree. But if I only said the main points I'd get thousands of questions about little stupid things that people can't figure out on their own instead of just hundreds of questions.

  • @Blockygraphics

    Cool story bro.

  • you're an asshole for doing that!

  • USE GLOVES LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!!

  • oooh don't get that h202 on your hands...i got some 30% on mine at work one time, they turned pure white for a week

  • Yeah, it took a good 15-20 minutes to get rid of just a tiny bit of burn on the tips of my fingers, soaking them in a baking soda/water solution.

    Certainly was a weird sensation!

  • geek powa!haha its great cant wait to try it on my commodore64

  • you can get arrowroot in the spices isle at stores but its like $7 for a salt shaker full.

  • Great. Now, If i The NES I ordered is Really Yellow, I can Fix at least Some of it. :D

  • Can I use Baking Powder?

  • ok, i use one pack of starch :) and it's work, perfect.. sun is good

  • You got it to work!?

  • hmm, looks better, but not 100%

  • hmm, i use this tutorial.. i use corn starch, but for 10 minutes, it's not a gel :( a must wait, or add more corn?

  • Did you heat it up, and mix it well?

  • yes, i start at 10:45 and i mixing and mixing.. and i add more and more starch, but no working.. maybe, 35% its to high for starch.. uff

  • now i add 60% of one pack of starch.. when i start mixing, it's glue, but in second it's like water :( sorry for my english, i take a photo, wait a second

  • can i USE 35% peroxyd hydrogen and VANISH OXI active?

  • Not sure about the OXI because I don't know what it is, but I think so. The 35% should be fine but be VERY VERY careful, it's mega-corrosive to organic matter and WILL burn your skin.

  • THAT is the power of Oxy Clean!

Oh, Billy Mays, you will be missed...

  • Are there other products besides Oxy Clean that are still good. I mean products that have the same chemicals as Oxy Clean?

  • I'm sure there are, mine was a generic brand from Wal Mart and cost me maybe 2 bucks, but they had... I think at least 2 other alternatives just there alone. I'm no Oxy-expert, though so I couldn't name them off the top of my head!

  • nice that was so grosse when u opened that and there where bugs in it O_0.lol

    NICE VIDEO :)

  • Thanks for watchin!

  • The yellow color I was fixing is more common in old plastics. As far as I know, they have long since changed formulas to not yellow like my super nintendo did, which was the plastic itself reacting and literally chaning color chemically.

  • Cool vid' I used my bath cleaner and it worked really well, it has little bits of grit in it and works really good on polishing any plastic.

  • Part 2!!!!, I was gettin into this and wasn't paying attention to the time at all and then it stopped and I was like "WTF is wrong with my pc"!!? , then I realized it was over lol.

  • Remember kids... wear lubbers on your hands.

  • I might have t try this, I'm kinda sick of my SNES looking like its bathed in piss! :D

Great vid man, on to part 2!

  • there's 2 part 2's?

  • That's what I get for copy+pasting the title, whoops!
