Absolutely. The Aebersold series is fantastic. More important than practice, in my view, is study. Practice is nearly impossible without studying the vocabulary and structure of jazz, as well as studying improvisation, phrasing and how to think on one's feet. For that, there's jazz theory and also the real teachers - studying hundreds of jazz greats from vocalists to all instrumentalists and listening to what they're playing. That said, the Aebersold is invaluable.
