Incredible application. My job is 50% travel and I could not have made it through one day without this app. I use it constantly. Bravo MotionX. I'd pay hundreds knowing how valuable it is to me.
@motionxvideos Let me ask you this. I am trying to run this on a JVC KW-AVX840. I can get it to work on the dual setting. But technically that should not work as that source should only come up with the parking brake on., so I can only think the HU is not working right. I think the way it should work is that the audio and video should play on the main a/v input, and the ipod controlled through Motionx, but the sys will only show the video, and no audio. It wants to play the ipod thru USB.
@brainle55dude What type of AV connection cable are you using? We have this set up using an Apple composite A/V cable. It works fine (music fades in the bkgrd during voice instructions) as long as you don't plug the USB connector into the iPod receptor. However this way your iPhone is not on charge. But as soon as you connect to the charging cable/iPod connector, the application audio goes away.
The JVC product page suggests you need a JVC KS-U30 cable. Worth trying; we'll keep you posted.
@agreendale Works great on my iPhone 3gs and I live and use it in the mountains. When it loses 'live feed', it still directs me to my destination. Apparently it finds your destination from point A to point B and continues to direct you even if you have lost satellite connection.
so far i am using the JVC KWAVX840 connecting an iPhone 3Gs running iOS 4.3 & 4.3.1 developers release and it is not compatible. I will be doing more testing to see where the problem is located. more info to come.....
@DKStoute Unfortunately this in a limitation of the 3GS hardware. Video out for this particular use case is only supported by the iPhone 4. We apologize for the confusion.
@imback218 You can pre-load maps for a given route, but you will still need a data connection to calculate the route initially. Here's a brief tutorial for pre-loading maps.
@flacksuage The TomTom will provide the required GPS information, but you need a data connection (Wifi or cellular) for maps, routing, and search results.
A truly first rate app! Well worth your time, effort and very minuscule financial investment. From the company that wrote the book on GPS navigational end-user solutions. As powerful as it is easy, MotionX-GPS Drive is 'must have' software for the iPlatform family of devices.

Will it stop The U.S., corrupt govt., from going to war with Iran under false pretenses? Otherwise, it's a great GPS!

Which receiver are you guys using here. Is that the JVC AVX 740?
brainle55dude 10 months ago
@brainle55dude There are two receivers in the video: the JVC KW-NT3HDT, and the Pioneer AVIC-Z120BT. But the JVC AVX740 is compatible as well.

I've used a lot of these and MotionX is simply the best. Worth the money for turn-by-turn guidance and a bargain at any price.

Don't waste your money if you don't have the I4. App mode is worthless on anything older than that.

Do I need an Internet Connection on my iPhone 4 to load the maps, or can I pre-load them?
