@akkill8 that may have been when they were repackaged or the copyright was renewed or something, but these are the original shorts by Fleishcer studios which were made in the 1940s. (Or at least the first couple are, I haven't watched to the end, but I assume they're all from the same series.) They're classics, made for the big screen.
It's interesting to notice that even in the War years when these were made, the intro says Superman "fights a neverending battle for truth and justice." The part about "and the American Way" must have been added in the 50s for the TV show with George Reeves when "the American Way" got very important politically. Even Superman was not immune, I guess.
These were on afternoon TV in the late 50s and into the early 60s. That's where I first saw them. They really take me back.
not only did the robots episode blindside me with a truckload of nostalgia, but it also made me realize how many nods those robots get through cameos in more recent releases...
