Haiti is a lost cause. No matter what you/they do, it will never be enough. They ruined all the resources, the forests and the reefs. They have way way too many people, about have of them need to check off the planet. There is nothing you can do for them that can ever get them self sufficient. The teacher in this film is probably one of few that has started this organized learning center.. You dont expect to have every qualified teacher over there at the beginning.. Things like this take time.

Hopefully this can familiarize the community with a standard teaching system that they can utilize in the future.

This obsession with Haiti is quite sad, if you ask me. Haiti's problems is not unique to the world. Haiti has the same problems that millions upon millions have in India, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and elsewhere around the world. The only unique experience that Haiti has experienced is that the country has been punished for freeing itself from tyranny 207 years ago.

I find it amazing that some people do this out of the goodness in their hearts. Alzire and so many others are doing absolutely everything they can in those poor, almost inhuman conditions of a ruined civilization. It is the people like Alzaire that will be remembered in 50 years, when Haiti hopefully is once again a respectful nation.

BUT; there is one thing I don't understand. Many children in the tent camps have lost their parents and have no birth certificate. Are they not allowed at school?

Black people CAN succeed, but when you consider that we weren't even enfranchised until a generation ago, its not hard to understand why there are pockets of Black poverty. Aside from that, only 20% of blacks actually live in impoverished ghettos. Most of us in the US are middle and working class law abiding citizens, so for you to make such a comment is not only insulting, but it reflects poorly on you, your intelligence, and your education.
