@fabtec4life - I find a lot stress can be put on a motor that isn't getting enough current. If the 3000mah pack is a lower grade pack, the motor might be starved for power. Almost like overgearing it. Outside of that, keep it out of the water, make sure there is no binding in the drive train (does everything spin freely when you remove the motor?). I must also say, that converting to brushless is fantastic in the long run.

@fabtec4life - Depends on what you want. But there is no maintenance and way more power. If you go lipo there are so many advantages. The batteries lose very little charge and "punch" while sitting on the shelf. So you can charge them up and run them a week later like they were freshly charged. Prices are coming down. You can get a venom 7.4v or 11.v for $50-$60 now. And the Onyx 230 does Lipo for $80 and is an AC/DC charger.

@fabtec4life You can get a VXL for 140 on eBay new. A lipo battery you can get for $40 on hobby kingdotcom as well as an excellent nimh/lipo charger on ebay for $45.

It was the stock which I think is 18, maybe 19 tooth. It is the 7 cell but a good 4600mah pack. A lesser quality or lesser amperage pack wouldn't deliver as much current and would be slower.

i have a 7 cell battery also, but now, it doesn't work as fast as it used to, and after fully using it, when i charge it, it only charges for five minutes. the pack is only a mont hold, and i didn't use it in water or anything. do you know wat the problem might b? any help would be appreciated.

That happened to my 6 cell pack too i'm preety sure it's because one of the cells is bad which messes up all the other one's,I just bought a new batery and it worked fine so I'd get a new battery

The Titan 12t 550 is puny enough on 7 cells, on 6 cells it would be too slow to be much fun. Titan 550 12t can take 8 cells if you don't mind it wearing out fast and check tempretures. On 8 cells it has enough power to earn my respect.

Most will say the speed control that comes with the Slash accepts up to 8 cells but that does NOT mean the motor can. Will it work?  Yes. But the motor WILL wear out very quickly. 20-40 runs.

Agreed. It wears on the motor much quicker. Due to not paying attention to heat and extended runtimes from the 4600mah. I've worn out 2 in less than 50 runs per motor. Acceptable to me for the ebay price of a new motor.

I think about 15-20 mins but the battery is worn out pretty good. The voltage and punch are good but it'll only take 4000mah charge.

I'd say a new 4600 pack should get 20-25 min.
