so when you set up for your gig you'll plug it in, unplug it, plug it in, unplug it, plug it in, unplug it, plug it in, unplug it, and hope it works...? um, scary much?
@bcrouche Haha, no. I'd just get a powered USB hub ;-) The video just shows that it's theoretically possible to hook up those two devices simultaneously, without a powered hub.
Does this still work with iOS 5 update? I heard that it doesn't support because the power is less after the update 4.2. My question is did they fix this with update iOS5
i want to control software synthesizer IN my iPad with the MIDI controller.
moreover - not only i want to play piano keys, but also use all the knobs, sliders and pads. Is it even possible? I want it to work with beatmaker 2. and if it is possible - which controller is the best? something like 25keys, 4/8 pads, several knobs/sliders.
I have bought a 2 in 1 camera kit for the iPad for £6 from Amazon and this works perfectly with my keyboard. I was surprised! So if youre looking for a cheaper option to the Apple kit then head onto Amazon! :)
about the "let's connect randomly!" part, i use other brand's laptop-size controllers and unfortunately i had to get used to this thing.. is that the only way?
@flx04 Even if you heard this as direct audio, you'd still be disappointed. When I listen to this side by side with my DS-10 off my nintendo DSI its hard to know who is who.
Decent demo of a very very cool feature. Although i certainly wouldnt recommend any1 trying that little stunt of yours with the hub. Nevertheless it's yet another incentive for musicians to be looking long and hard at Apples little monster. There's plenty of small knob-encrusted keyboards to make this highly applicative.
What brand of USB cable are you using? I have the UNO but I think that's not working because it requires a driver. It'll detect the midi input but nothing happens. Also, just to make sure... the sound is coming directly out of the ipad's speaker right?
@sergeantsteeze I have an Ipad2. and a M-audio midi compatible controller keyboard
It works fine with Garageband I mean I can play on the keyboard the sounds in Garageband ....but Why i cannot play with the keyboard the Korg IMS-20 and other midi music apps, like Korg electribe and so on in My Ipad2
@MrPlaystationboy No, the MS-20 in the App is only monophonic as well.
flx04 5 days ago
i know the original ms-20 is monophonic... but can you play this polyphonic???

And you're telling me some self respecting producer would create music with this?
iLoveEatingPie 1 month ago
@iLoveEatingPie Nope, I'm just showing you that you can connect USB-MIDI Keyboards to the iPad :)
flx04 1 month ago 2
@flx04 but... why do that?
iLoveEatingPie 1 month ago
You think hooking up an audio interface would work with it?
DoubleEdgedSword12 2 months ago
@DoubleEdgedSword12 My guess is that it should work, if the Interface is iPad compatible.

pretty sweet, but the korg sounds don't sound to good
dankcro 5 months ago
@dankcro Yeah, I only recorded the iPad's speaker with the camera mic. If you use proper headphones, the App sounds pretty good.

@flx04 pretty good camera!!!!! what are you using?

@Wawasaki: yes, the sound is coming from the iPad's internal speaker, which obviously doesn't sound too good. ;)

This should also work with GarageBand for those interested

I have the same keyboard. Is there any way for this to work on the iPhone using apps like the new FL Studio Mobile?

@MrBelaure Not with Apple's Camera Connection Kit, since that only works with the iPad.

The transpose button on your keyboard, actually change the octaves of the midi data sent by your keyboard itself, bro' :)
But say, i have a edirol or whatever, which comes with a lot of faders & knobs next to the keyboard, can you assign all of them as well?
Hyperdubs 1 year ago
Nice and easy. Would it work with a M-Audio Keystation too? Thanks. Alain.

normally all devices must be turned off before making any MIDI connections.

For reliable, fast no latency MIDI and full power support for a hub use iConnectMIDI
