  • @MrPlaystationboy No, the MS-20 in the App is only monophonic as well.

  • i know the original ms-20 is monophonic... but can you play this polyphonic???

  • so when you set up for your gig you'll plug it in, unplug it, plug it in, unplug it, plug it in, unplug it, plug it in, unplug it, and hope it works...? um, scary much?

  • @bcrouche Haha, no. I'd just get a powered USB hub ;-) The video just shows that it's theoretically possible to hook up those two devices simultaneously, without a powered hub.

  • And you're telling me some self respecting producer would create music with this?

  • @iLoveEatingPie Nope, I'm just showing you that you can connect USB-MIDI Keyboards to the iPad :)

  • @flx04 but... why do that?

  • You think hooking up an audio interface would work with it?

  • @DoubleEdgedSword12 My guess is that it should work, if the Interface is iPad compatible.

  • cant do this and charge at the same time. would love to use it as a synth or piano live. but batter not good enough

  • @InHouseMaterial Check out the Alesis IO-Dock then.

  • @ricsteve Still works for me, like in the video. iPad 1 with iOS 5.0.1.

  • doesn't work with iOS 5, anyone has the same problem????

  • Does this still work with iOS 5 update? I heard that it doesn't support because the power is less after the update 4.2. My question is did they fix this with update iOS5

  • @mcveagh78 It still works the same for me with iOS 5.

  • The bit right at the end reminds me of the mind of evil from doctor who (John pertwee series) just as it activated and killed someone :)

  • pretty sweet, but the korg sounds don't sound to good

  • @dankcro Yeah, I only recorded the iPad's speaker with the camera mic. If you use proper headphones, the App sounds pretty good.

  • @flx04 pretty good camera!!!!! what are you using?

  • I have bought a 2 in 1 camera kit for the iPad for £6 from Amazon and this works perfectly with my keyboard. I was surprised! So if youre looking for a cheaper option to the Apple kit then head onto Amazon! :)

  • kewl

  • hey can you midi map the knobs to different knobs etc in iMS-20 or is it just plug and hope it maps to some relevant controls....??

  • about the "let's connect randomly!" part, i use other brand's laptop-size controllers and unfortunately i had to get used to this thing.. is that the only way?

  • @Wawasaki: yes, the sound is coming from the iPad's internal speaker, which obviously doesn't sound too good. ;)

  • @flx04 Even if you heard this as direct audio, you'd still be disappointed. When I listen to this side by side with my DS-10 off my nintendo DSI its hard to know who is who.

  • This should also work with GarageBand for those interested

  • By the way, is the sound coming out of the iPad speakers?

  • Ok, now I'm convinced. I'm gonna buy the apple camera connection kit

  • The knobs and sliders does work perfectly on the touchscreen?

  • I have the same keyboard. Is there any way for this to work on the iPhone using apps like the new FL Studio Mobile?

  • does it work on iphone or ipod touch?

    thanks

  • @MrBelaure Not with Apple's Camera Connection Kit, since that only works with the iPad.

  • @flx04 thank you

  • OMG!!!! That's very crazy a loottt!!!! iPad + Akai MIDI Controller is a nice portable setup to play anywhere!!

  • Why would you make damage to anything? the only risk is for me that if i buy a camera conection kit that it won't work with my behringer UMX490

  • Awesome! Great Job!

  • DON'T PANIC = EPIC WIN!

  • Decent demo of a very very cool feature. Although i certainly wouldnt recommend any1 trying that little stunt of yours with the hub. Nevertheless it's yet another incentive for musicians to be looking long and hard at Apples little monster. There's plenty of small knob-encrusted keyboards to make this highly applicative.

  • Midi came with firmware 4.2.1, right?

  • Great video!!

  • Oh thats so cool!

  • Thank you. This just answered the exact question a friend of mine had.

  • What brand of USB cable are you using? I have the UNO but I think that's not working because it requires a driver. It'll detect the midi input but nothing happens. Also, just to make sure... the sound is coming directly out of the ipad's speaker right?

  • The transpose button on your keyboard, actually change the octaves of the midi data sent by your keyboard itself, bro' :)

But say, i have a edirol or whatever, which comes with a lot of faders & knobs next to the keyboard, can you assign all of them as well?

  • Nice and easy. Would it work with a M-Audio Keystation too? Thanks. Alain.

  • @RICOAlain Most probably yes.

  • normally all devices must be turned off before making any MIDI connections.

  • For reliable, fast no latency MIDI and full power support for a hub use iConnectMIDI

  • Which USB midi keyboard are you using?

  • @sergeantsteeze That's the Akai LPK25

  • @sergeantsteeze The "bigger" one is the E-MU X-Board 25 (which can also be powered by USB, just not by the iPad)

  • @sergeantsteeze I have an Ipad2. and a M-audio midi compatible controller keyboard

It works fine with Garageband I mean I can play on the keyboard the sounds in Garageband ....but Why i cannot play with the keyboard the Korg IMS-20 and other midi music apps, like Korg electribe and so on in My Ipad2

    Pl,ease somebody help, or anybody?
