Let's not foget them all brother, but appreciate them. We dream of being able to sing like angles, but just a few stir our emotions. Simply bow your head and listen.
love how most of the commenters are italians! represent! =) love italy so much and secretly love opera......i admit it.....embarassing i know but they truely have talent....=)
I don't know who wrote the middle part of this--it wasn't'' RAchmaninoff. As far as capturing the original feeling of Vocalize, I prefer Marco's more restrained, bel-canto, to Licitra's Italianate rendering. Listen to Kiri, or the violinists for the real music and feeling!!!
Ah, I've been waiting for a video of these two for ages! Considering how many concerts they've done together it's incredible there isn't loads of footage. And yes, Alvarez is a better singer than Licitra, but they work great together! Also, does anyone else think Licitra looks like Philip Seymour Hoffman in profile?
Wow! You really must be fabulously insecure. I actually LIKE it! And you still find things to hate! And yes, I do know about stage work as I sing on one or the other at least two nights a week...
Lecitera has an angelic voice. I love him!!! Especially when he sais volera so soothing to my soul. hes like a breath of fresh air. All the songs he sings so gracefully, effortless.
Licitra isn't that bad, but sounds pretty amateur when compared with Alvarez. Yes, they both use their diaphragms! (so do you, or you wouldn't be alive!)
Salvatore Licitra is not an operatic voice, he desn´t have the vocal capacity for singing opera, it is just publicity now days, how bad it is that opera houses allow some singers to perform opera. He has an atrocious tecqnique,he is ok with this ¨piece of a cake songs¨, but not opera please..Marcelo Alvarez is more than OK singing this and some operas.
Not everyone can be a Pavoratti. You should really be more accepting of other people's methods. If the way Opera was done didn't change then it would have died out years ago. Be happy the so called wicked 'publicity' has kept the art form alive! :)
Luciano, you are the only one between these comments that say the truth! You're right! Licitra is not an opera singer because he doesn't have the good technique to make an opera. I have seen Alvarez and many other tenors in theatre here in Florence and I can say with high voice that NOWADAYS, ALVAREZ IS THE BEST TENOR in the world because he's more complete than other ones! Great Marcelo!
yes salvatore has just a good voice and also marcelo!but they ar'nt ramon vargas!!!who really sings!!!he is the best today with juan diego florez!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Licitra does have IT, I think I can hear it in his voice. The darkenss is there but he needs the power. His diction is right and he has an elegant way without looking clownish...I wonder...he's worth watching.
I am a classically trained singer & think this is performed beautifully! Alvarez sings better but Licitra also sings well. The diafragm from what i can hear and see is used by both. Well done!
I think Licitra was sick (normally with antibiotics the sensation of the body and especially the diaphragm collapse). It is impossible for a tenor of this caliber to sing that bad. Marcelo was superb.
GRANDE TENORE MORTO GIOVANISSIMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
