i have 1 question how can anyone not like this song so i ask this to the one person that disliked this song please look into your heart and find your soul to listen to the words that lie under the music.
@jaiagreen Actually it does get played on the radio quite a bit here on country legends 106.9 (Kansas) is a classic country radio station. They play songs from the 60's 70's 80's and 90's. I actually listen to it more than the new country when i am on my school bus route every morning. You should look them up and stream them live on your computer and i think if you like the older country you would enjoy it.
...At least we've had our chances....there's those who never have...we bitch about a dollar...when there's those without a dime...If lyrics like this don't move you in some way you simply dont have a soul.
What I love about this era of country music is that there was a lot of thought put into the wording of the songs. This song is the prime example. Every line of the song has that moment when you go "i didn't think of it that way..." We all are worried about ourselves, I know, but there are so many people that have it worse than we do. This song reminds us that those people are out there and they desperately need our help.
I don't think you can honestly listen to this song and not have some memory or past feeling of a loved one come to mind.......0 dislikes...Thats how it should be.
I didn't understand this song for a long time. Then one night, I spent the night with my cousin. I woke up in the middle of the night and this song was on the radio. And suddenly, I understood it, and it made me cry. Same thing happened with "The Walk" by Sawyer Brown.
People just need to realize no matter how bad you think you have it in life, there's hat always someone out there that has it way worse than you do...before you do some thing thats going to hurt alot of people alittle prayer and a phone call to someone, just may be the one thing that could help turn things around!
I had forgotten about this song-haven't heard in a long time but it's such a great tune-it rings so true. We all should be grateful for what we have! Blessings to all!
Wow...This song only has 8,000 views? What is wrong with people? There are songs out their with no point, no emotion..and they have millions of views..Joe Diffie is amazing..and i wish he could be just as common as the leading artists. He's talented and has quite a bit of good songs. He was the first country artist i ever heard of when i was a kid and i use to dance to all his songs and have a good time.
@oxang3lndisguis3xo I think it because time have fly by, most of them are listening today music which I usually get bored listen to nor can understand why they listen to such so called music. But I have old cassette tape and some record disc, I go play those good old song when I at home, even some song I play from the 90. I like any kind of music, pop and rap was "ok" back then but now it went to shit. Joe is in my book for best country artist I heard in my lifetime.
Thanks guy's/gals, for your service to this country, even though some war's were considered "conflict" like Viet-Nam, just a conflict, so many losing their lives for ...nothing, just a political "war", but I do appreciate the service of our men/women, and for leaders that know the difference!
@dave61792 me,too. One of the great country songs, left today. It seems like all of the greats in country are giving up and fading away. I mean, men like Goerge Strait,Alan Jackson... It seems we don';t hear great country music anymore.
What is wrong with today's music? There isn't anything like this, left to sing,. I agree with you.
The is the very essence of what Country music is about. Though some may argue, I still think this is the Greatest Country song ever written. " We bitch about a dollar when there's those without a dime", gotta love that line.
I do like that line too. I heard this song a lot as a little kid but never understood what it was about until I was a teenager. The ones who died to defend this country and even if we disagree with war, it's very important to always honor them.
A reminder that we all need to put things into perspective; as long as we are alive and have our health, we need to play the hand we're dealt and quit acting the victim.
Facet Allisons favorite song I still love it.

"Here's to all the soldiers who have ever died in vain" is such a courageous lyric! I doubt it would get radio play now.
