That's certainly a productive way to spend an afternoon! I once had a spear point that was cut and ground down from a slasher blade, and your SFK reminds me of it. Well done, Sean on the spoon, I have to agree it's not the prettiest sight to behold, but I'm thinking you proved your point!
@dabalamanzi You're not Lofty Wiseman, you don't know what he'd think. To be honest he'd be a hell of a lot more respectful of others and would probably admire the enginuity. As for growing up....who's the one throwing uncalled for and unnecessary names around? You're embarassing yourself.
Dude I like your videos, quite professional and confident but I just don't see how your knife with its massive scabbard or the other knife you reviewed are near practical. They may get the job done and are lighter than carrying a knife and an axe but they are so cumbersome! Its like a compromise in the tool quality for some weight...
Plus, if you're walking or camping near to or with the public they might do as far as to report you with that bloody great thing strapped to your leg. Its grotesque
@NWoodward90 People who call the cops on a grown man with a knife are complete idiots. As far as the knife is concerned you must realize the value in a knife that will complete all bushcraft and survival tasks. A tool like this knife shown are priceless in the bush.
ok, any folding penkife is ok but the police will take it away if they think you have a malintent. for any locking blade under 3inches, you must have a good reason to be carrying it, ie fishing. same for any fixed blade knife under 3''. for that retarded bastard child of a small forest axe and a parang you would need to get a lisence or special permission. ust get a mora knife ffs much better quality and nice and cheap aswell. i have carvednicer things with mine and it only cost me 15£...
That was a really neat video! Do they sell these knives a little bit smaller for us women? My hands are very small, but I would love to have a knife like this!
no they dont and the wont either. you dont want this knife anyway believe me. this is just a vague substitute for a tom brown tracker . you want a mora training knife. ignore the training bit most intructors use it. it is a quality blade and only about 15£
Chirs makes custom knives to order. You can have what ever size and shape knife you want. The price is higher because they are hand crafted. The mora knives are excellent and I do own one but I would not choose it as my one only knife.
Great vid Sean. When the vid started fast forwarding I had visions of Benny Hill's Chase sequences with scantily clad chicks running around lol. Also what wood did you use, just that scandanavian pine is the only option where I go camping and I wouldn't want to harm any of the few remaining indigenous trees that are around. Any advice?
Hazel is a great wood to use. Its happy to be coppiced so you wont kill the tree by removing on branch. Also as with most tress that have edible parts (leaves, fruit, nuts) the is not toxic so ok for cokking utensils.
On refelction I think I agree. This video was to satisfy the critics who did not think you could carve with this knife. A spoon showed all the grips of the knife. I did not want to cut the film to prove the whole thing was carved with the one tool. Thanks for watching.
At the very begining of the video. you moved something from the log. It seems like a turtle shell. What is it really? And why is there so many planes that go bye through out the video?
ahh well i'm not a trekkie lol but i do carry a mora and a good folding saw more often i just love using my kukri and think a nice companion blade would be good with the SFK
I have seen small kukhris' that may work well as a companion. But for me I find the handles too uncomfortable. I have a full size one at home that I am going to rehandle. I am currently working with Chris Grant to make a companion knife to the SFK.
ohh i didnt mean a kukri as a companion no need for that with your blade desinge i mean like a traditional kukri companion blade you know i cant remember the name now lol

Well done, and a beautiful knife. but wouldn't it be more useful for carving if it was sharpened all the way to the grip?

The woods I am using are at the end of Bristol Airport. The turtle shell like item I moved are my knee pads. I was using them as seat padding.

great vid sean that knife is working great
johnjayrambo11111 2 years ago 2
ok i know its not what you want but maybe you should consider a companion blade like a kukri.
sorry if i'm repetive but i love a good kukri lol
wolfbrother2501 2 years ago
Kukris are great for all sorts of work (and fun, too!) but they're a pain to lug around all day on a trek.
For temperate woodlands, it's more energy-efficient to carry a small fixed blade and a good folding saw.
docnightfall 2 years ago
ahh well i'm not a trekkie lol but i do carry a mora and a good folding saw more often i just love using my kukri and think a nice companion blade would be good with the SFK
