I absolutely love The Smiths. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of what they've tried to do here, changing the rhythm of the singing slightly etc. Feel it doesn't flow as nicely, but thats probably just as its not what I'm used to! nice though still...

In the two different versions what we have is the difference between English and American culture to a tee. This version is chincy and nostalgic. With its tremelo and waltz-like backing it's a sentimental muse ABOUT the idea of being lonely & not getting what you want - executed with a dreamy smile. Morrissey and Marr, however, feel and express genuine emotion, the bleak spirit of post industrial Manchester pours out their lyrics and melodies. This is nice, but so what?
