I gradually am listening to all of Bach's existing cantatas with original-style instruments, male alto (countertenor), and boys sopranos. So far, the only voice of truly superior quality like Connor's has been Peter Jelosits. I would have been much more pleased with some of the solos had Connor been singing them. I look forward to hearing more Connor videos.
Yes the treble voices from UK are magnificent. Dont know why but all the choires has healthy sounding voices, no pressure and no stiff. How is that possible !?
I think It's masterchoir's approach. In general, in german the approach with the soloists boys is Bel Canto, ideal for Opera, Oratorio, Cantate, Bach's mass, etc.
These three boys sounds amazing. Well balanced, the first a little bit louder, perfect in tempo... What a beauty.
In my opinion it is important that a boys voice has sound like a boys voice and all the UK voices sounds like that. A boy should sound like a child that is the magic-not like a woman.
I wish you joy with your Bach pilgrimage. I did the same a few years ago - unforgettable performances, the like of which we may never hear again. Of course, not all the soloists are in the incomparable class of Jelosits- but what a record of generations of talented Tolzers, WSK boys and Hannover. I would not be without Wittek, Kronwitter, Bergius or Iconomou. Connor, along with Aled jones and Andrew Swait are for me the outstanding UK trebles.
who is Connor? third?
their voices are sublime.

Absolutly. Connor's voice is colourful, rare tone among all boys soprano. My favourite among all trebles come from in UK.

First part or second part from the song? If it's first Ted is the treble and Stephen alto boy.

I sang this in the school chorale group in the 60's. Enjoyed it then. Love it now.
