  • did the baby bunny die?

  • I've been watching your videos for a while now and I just found these two concerning the rabbit. It breaks my heart to know that the baby passed away but I think it's amazing that Bridgette cared for it. Such a sweet and incredible girl. It makes me happy to know you cared for her (and still care for Kevie) so well and love them both. Best wishes to you and your family!

  • Yeah, well, the cat has gotta eat too :) Too many bunnies are a bad thing, can't tell you how many holes I've sprained my ankle on because of the varmints!

  • Bridgette is beautiful. And the way you describe her maternal instinct reminds me of one of my parent's doxie who will mother anything she can. If she heard puppies crying on the tv, she will hunt for them

  • @everfaraway Yeah Bridgie was always "foxy" in every sense of the word, she'd continue to hunt but when it came to mothering something, she took it very seriously. :o)

  • tails and cream

  • what do you mean why do we keep hunting these animals that rabbit was attacked by another animal re re im not saying it was the fox though

  • Man did you see the fox's eyes? That's sadness, seriously any idiot can feel she is sad and hurt for the baby's condition. Why the heck we keep hunting animals? Well I can accept someone's own survival thugh. ANYWAY I love foxes, they do rock!

  • @NollieFlipX Yes this one was a VERY special little girl. She knew what she needed to do and she did it, no questions asked. Then when the bunny finally died, she gave me a nod letting me know that her job was done, and I removed it. A very special soul indeed this one was.

  • that is a pet fox right?

  • thats so cool about the fox and also... how do you get a pet fox?! xD

  • Ok, any of these videos i watch are fantastic but i dont appreceate all the negativity torward the owner. Shes educating me at this because i love foxes and all i see is TROLL in the comments.you folks either grow up or actually learn a thing or two here.

  • @zionfeather7 Thanks so much for your comment! We really appreciate your support! :o) Ah yes even after 3 years, this video still draws a lot of attention! ;o)

  • This brought tears to my eyes...that poor baby bunny...Bridgette was so kind and sweet to take care of it.

  • I thought foxes ate bunnies

  • Why on a harmless little bunny?

  • You are an amazing person.

  • Lets not feed the trolls Beanie. They'll just come back for more as they have nothing better to do. They just need to go back to their facebook or livejournal accounts and whine how they were basically schooled through YouTube. I'm sure their mothers will read it religiously later and comfort them. :)

  • @hawkster81 I know you're right Dear and I HOPE this will be the last time I have to explain myself! SHEESH! I hope all's well with you! :o)

  • I have owned rabbits for years and I understand that you were trying to help the bunny but what you did was not very smart. I'm glad you saved the rabbit but why would you put it with a fox? You know that in the wild a fox would kill a rabbit kit? Your lucky that your fox is being well feed so it didn't kick into predator mode.

    Continuing...

  • @DEViLSHiREproduction First I'd like to sincerely thank you for not just jumping all over this video with nasty drivel and start name calling. What you wrote was very mature and I felt you had a genuine discussion as your intentions. I will show the same respect to you also, however my responses may sound a bit sarcastic as I've been told I do sometimes. Ah well...Anyway first of all I didn't put the bunny in with 'a fox', I put it in with Bridgie. Bridgie is known to have a strong...

  • Maternal instinct. You would know that if you were following the saga of Bridgie & Kevie but obviously you weren't. Let me introduce the girls to you. Bridgie has been with us since 1996, she has a strong maternal instinct. She is the matriarch of our little group. Kevie is the clown and has been with us since 2003. Both girls are fur farm rescues, they were born in captivity to be destroyed later when they became old enough to 'harvest' their fur. Both girls were in really bad shape..

  • When they came to us but we nursed them back to the healthy vixens they are today. I have been a rescue/rehabber since I was a young kid, nearly 30 years (and this answers another one of your questions, I AM a rescue rehabber). I have rescued hundreds of animals from dozens of different species, both wild and domesticated. I opened my Youtube account 3 years ago to educate folks about the fox's personal behavior, it was not intended solely to 'show off my pet foxes' as so many other...

  • Folks have done. As I said Bridgie has a strong maternal instinct, although she has never had a litter of her own, I feel it's important to encourage that natural instinct. I have even given her 2 week old kittens and she nurtured and mothered them and I knew that she would nurture the rabbit too and she didn't let me down. No I am not a vet, however based on the severity of it's injuries, I knew the rabbit was going to die. I didn't want to get into the gorey detail of the injuries because,

  • I want to keep the videos G rated as we have younger viewers, so you'll have to trust my judgement on that. I put the rabbit in the tube, it didn't go in there by itself because it couldn't because of its injuries and that's where it stayed. I basically 'patched' it so it didn't show too much of the injuries. Bridgie cleaned it's wounds and I feel that part of her knew that she might scare the rabbit and so, if you'll notice in these 2 videos, she pretty much stayed outside the tube instead..

  • Of looming over the rabbit as a wild fox would. I feel that Bridgie knew that the rabbit was going to die also and I knew that she heard the pitiful screams and saw the cats torturing it. Which is why she pretty much stayed outside the tube and watched so that the cats wouldn't harm it. My old buddy stood guard and looked over that little rabbit for hours until it finally died and then she collapsed. She knew that her job was done and I removed the rabbit. I was very concerned about...

  • Bridgie as she is elderly and yet she spent all the energy she had to look after this little rabbit and care for it. This is the last time I've allowed Bridgie to mother anything as it takes so much out of her physically but just know that this little rabbit did not die in vein as thousands of people have learned a lesson or 2 about fox behavior from these videos. I hope this answers some of your questions as I don't know a better way to explain it. :o)

  • so, instead if letting the 'stupid feral cats' kill it quickly and let nature take it's course, you put it in with a fox (which it's probably scared of) to die a slow and cruel death? hmm. thats a love for animals? real love would have been to leave the poor cat alone to kill the rabbit quickly, and letting the cat eat it's food. You're an idiot.

  • @MeowMorrigan I'll explain this one more time so be sure to put your listening eyes on and read carefully ok? I'll type slowly so you can keep up. A.) the cats were torturing the rabbit, it was skinning it from the back side up and the rabbit was screaming in pain! B.) Bridgie (the white fox in the video) licked it's wounds and the rabbit calmed down and was not screaming any more. C.) The rabbit was not afraid of Bridgette because, it's obviously not trying to get away. Continuing...

  • D.) I would have let the cat eat it's prey had it killed it instantly instead of torturing it. Lastly to allow feral cats easy access to 'food' would be risking disease to the foxes, which I'm not about to do! And one more thing, this video is nearly 3 years old and you're NOW posting your troll drivel on it? Who's the idiot now?

  • @SpiritWhiteFox2 Oh snap!

  • @F1315NJ LoL Funny? ;o)

  • Second just because the rabbit wasn't screaming doesn't mean it wasn't afraid. A rabbit will only scream if it knows it doesn't have a chance. In this case the rabbit was trying to hide that it was hurt and afraid cus in nature if it showed how weak it was a predator would have killed it. And last why didn't you give it to an animal rehab place so it could have survived? Or at least 2 a vet? Poor bun. I wish it didn't have to spend it's last minutes in fear cus you put it next 2 a predator.

  • Comment removed

  • Beautiful fox

  • I think that while the fox did defy it's natural nature and do something that was pretty, well, cool, the baby bunny was probably still pretty scared and altogether putting it out of it's misery would have been less traumatic for it. Cool video though.

  • why not just humanely euthanase the poor thing rather than let it suffer longer so you can film it??

  • @aleximundo Euthanase is as horrible as murder itself. . . in fact, it's killing another creature--even if it is for a good reason. And I don't know about you, but I would rather die painfully and with someone who cared about me with me. . . then to die by some needle alone. At least if it's note euthanased it has a CHANCE of living. That's better than none.

  • :( nature sucks sometimes

but it's good to see that there are people with humane senses. and good to see that you have such a loving fox that you clearly take very good care of :)

  • what happened to the poor bunny in the end? :'(

  • wow! Bridgette is really tame! she actually cared for the wounded bunny. she's wonderful!

  • Not to steal the magic but mammals have a built in thing where we mistake other very young mammals as being our own species. Often this natural mammal empathy leads to raising young of different species as their own. Knowledge of phenomenon like this is what lead people to write novels and tell stories about people being raised by wolves or gorrilas. I've even heard some zoologists refer to this as the 'cute defense', but I think that's just a nickname. Still, it is a wonderful anomoly isn't it?

  • wouldn't the fox just try to eat it? I mean no matter how docile even those foxes must some sort of instincts .

  • @brinx513 There! YOU got the point of this video! Wonder why it's so hard for other's to 'get it'! I made these 2 videos to show what a wonderful, caring, maternal, nature Bridgie has! I mean she HAS made kills before, however it was just different with this little bunny. She wanted to nurture it!

  • you rescued the fox from a fur farm???

How can I do that? I want to help =(

Thank you for saving the bunny and the fox =')

  • Err, actualy, its not very difacult to domesticate a fox. Its been done in at lest 3 diferent studys that I know of. Probably more. Takes consideration and time most of all, but the basic idea is actualy pretty simple.

  • aaawww, :(

  • Great thinking! Let a wounded animal slowly die instead of administering some simple steps which could save its life. Please keep away from all animals in future.

  • I love animals too, but if its hurt and in pain I think maybe you should have the let the vet put it down or something.... maybe than to let another what the rabbit would think of a predator to lick it... I say this when my cat got hold of a baby Bird it was still alive when my mum tried to take care of it once we got it away from the cat it simply died of a heart attack from stress.... not great.

  • @Green2Griffin well, I had the same problem about a year ago, a cat was out in our front yard and had gotten 3 baby rabbits, idk how but we chased him away and took all 3 up to a local petshop. The girl there had raised wild baby rabbits before that were abandoned (if you try to give them back to the mother, she WILL kill them). 2 of the 3 survived and if we had taken them all to the vet, they all would have been put down just because they were stressed. Stressed doesnt mean they will always die

  • @DXkiraXN nono, of course not always,,, but in my case it did die, twas very sad. and yes, never touch a rabbits babies!!! some other animals do that too, sometimes even cats if you touch their babies they kill them D=

  • You domesticated foxes?

  • @ninja2311 The fox probably ate it after it died, anyway. The fox is a wild animal, and only a fool would believe you can domesticate one. Rabbit died, and something ate it. The great circle of life.

  • @buisyman Wrong again, neither Bridgie NOR Kevie ate the rabbit.

  • @buisyman You know you can't really say that you could domesticate a fox, how do you think dogs came about? They came from the wolf, if the people back then acted like you there would not be and cute fluffy dog in your backyard right now (of course that would be if you had a pet)

  • I thought you loved animals? If the cat doesn't eat, it will die a slow, painfull death of starvation. is that what you want? to torture a cat?

  • @buisyman Uhmmm if I wanted to torture the cat, I would have kicked it before grabbing the bunny! It's not like rabbits are on the endangered species list! The cat just moved on and found something else to eat! If I allowed all the feral cats easy access to food, I'd risk the chance of the girls catching a deadly disease from them! Do you honestly think I'd want to do that, especially after they were rescued from a FUR FARM???

  • @SpiritWhiteFox2 umm.. have you heard the phrase "breeding like rabbits"

rabbits breed like crazy.. i highly doubt they are on the endangered species list

however, you do have all my respect for saving the foxes from a fur farm.. people who where fur are fucked up

  • @IAmViviLee Right and that's why I wasn't the least bit concerned that the cat would starve as it was @Buisyman's concern that the cat would starve. There are tons of other rabbits out here as well as other small rodents for the feral cats to feed on. However when I heard the heart wrenching screams of this tiny helpless being and the sadistic way the cat was skinning it from the backside forward while still alive, I sprang into action.

  • Had the cat did the pounce and instant death kill, as I've seen Bridgie & Kevie do on MANY occasion, I wouldn't have interfered because that's nature. However to I couldn't stand by and watch the cat senslessly torture the poor helpless little bunny as it screamed out in pain. Could anybody?

  • @IAmViviLee Actually they are listed as endangered or threatened in certain areas through out the US, the world. In the city I live in they are threatened, & they have a breeding program to release more in the hopes of saving them from extention. Rabbits may breed like rabbits, but you have to account for all the things that kill the young before they even leave the nest. For example rat kill at least 4 out of 5 babies. While the mother leaves the nest to feed, they come in & drag off the babies

  • cats piss me off

  • thats sooo cool!! a fox taking care of a baby BUNNY!!! :D :D

  • how can you own a fox as a pet? where du get them? and the city allows that?

  • You are a very kind person. I simply adore animals and cannot tolerate their being hurt. Death to hunters!!!!

  • Wow. I kind of expected a fox to want to eat a baby bunny.

Its so sweet when different species get along. :3

  • @xXNibiNoNekoXx I agree it is very sweet, makes human's seem pretty pathetic however

  • You can hand rear a baby bunny of this age. I`ve done it before and released them. It`s hard, but possible :) Unless you meant die of injuries or shock

  • GOOD FOR YOU! If there were more animal lovers like you and myself in this world, animals wouldn't be so abused and left to die in the wild. I so appreciate what you did and hope that you will continue to do it.

  • Thank you, that really means a lot to me! :o) My old buddy, Bridgie, never ceases to amaze me and I HAD to get this footage on video! :o)

  • The people saying "it's mean to kill the feral cats :O" need to be put in their place quickly. Feral cats do more damage to ecosystems than ANY other animal in the world, period. There is no argument, it is there in the scientific literature. A study was done that showed one male left 75% of its kills on the ground, since it was just killing for fun.

  • Killing them actually like coyotes gets them to have larger litters and more feral cats result. A more effective method is TNR. They will keep the turf, but they won`t breed and the males will keep other cats away, so no more breeding occurs in the area. Eventually colony disapears- no more feral cats

  • My stupid cat is always killing things for fun. It's always bringing in dead lizards, frogs, and birds. And it just leaves them in the house... it's so annoying I feel like slapping it in the face!

  • @kikoprico maybe you can EDUCATE your cat?

  • @kikoprico

it reminds me of my older dog years ago how he would drag up a rat that is much bigger then his head up the steps and just left it right in front of the door.

  • @kikoprico Animals don't kill for fun, only humans do that. Your cat is doing what its insticts tell it to do. providing food for your house. That's what it thinks it's doing, How can you own a pet and be so blind to its habits?

  • When I first started watching this I though that the dog was going to eat the bunny.. Then I read your description :] Very cute :]

  • aww ;-; Thats sooo sweet!!!!!!! i almost started crying because of the discription!!!!! thats just so sweet!!!!!!!

  • Beautiful and amazing pet!

  • @virgonomic She is a nice old gal. :o)

  • I find it amazing that a fox is so beautiful and friendly ive been wanting an arctic fox maybe when i grow up i can get one where did you get it anyway?

  • A couple of things, did the rabbit really die? and where did you manage to get a fox? I would love to have one onday. they are so beautful, especially yours shes gorgeous

  • It was a lot worse before Bridgette cleaned it. She got it to stop bleeding at least.

  • She's a beautiful girl by the way, I'm glad to see she's in such good hands.

  • This video surprises me in some ways. Most of the foxes I stalk and take are on the the request of farm owners and for my own sport. They're incredibly intelligent creatures, hunt very effectively and often horde their kills. I don't think I've ever seen one back off an easy meal - although considering she's domesticated (to a point), I don't think she sees the urgency to eat something so vulnerable. No chase.

  • Felixinfrance, you seriously need to reconsider what you just said.

It's a feral cat, for God's sake. If the damn thing can't eat a rabbit, it'll catch something else and eat that.

I'd like to see you raise two foxes, give them habitats and food, and treat them with the respect they deserve.

That's TOUGH work, so stop throwing around bullshit that isn't true. At least she was genuine enough to not kill the cat and make it into a hat.

  • Wow thanks so much for the awesome comment! :o) Did I tell you once I raised a litter of abandoned newborn feral kittens? It's true, there were 5 of them and they were obviously abandoned. I bottle fed and raised them up until they turned 5 weeks old and were eating on their own. Then they went to a cat rescue agency and placed up for adoption.

  • Hi, again.

Just wanted to comment on this video once again, explaining that it's a FERAL CAT. There are millions of them alive. She didn't hurt the cat, and there are plenty of bunnies and food for that cat to eat, so it's not like she abused the cat after saving the bunny.

It's a video of a baby bunny she had the courtesy to save. I'm sure that if you were that baby bunny, you wouldn't want to be ripped to shreds and eaten alive!

  • And the feral cat starved to death! Your a fluffy animal lover, not an animal lover.

  • She's a beautiful fox. I've always wanted to see a fox up close, but have never been able to, wild or tamed. I'm actually very in tune with nature and I believe every person has a Spirit Totem, I have a few actually which is not normal, but one of my spirit totems happens to be a fox and I believe that is why I'm so in love with them! Anyway, Bridgette is a beautiful fox.

  • aww did the baby bunny die and hats so cute how bridgette took her in i have a cat whos not feral i luv him no matter what but i have seen him toturing rats and mice before but everytime i take it away and three times the anmal has survived and ummbridgette would make a good mummy!

  • Wow, I dont get the hate for cats. I did enjoy your videos but sometimes your reaction to cats are just so unnecessary. I agree with you on disliking people for abandoning cats to allow them to be feral, but it is not the cat's fault. Most of them were born "wild". Just like your fox was born domesticated, no one should force it to be otherwise. So the feral cat has a right to hunt for food, even if its not its natural environment. If a wild fox hunted baby rabbits, you would not interfere.

  • What amazes me is the ignorant people who totally missed the point to this video. Bridgette and Kevie have made kills and they continue to do so, whether it's a bird, small rodent, and yes even baby bunnies. With a quick bite to the back of the head, it's all over with. However the cat was skinning this baby bunny alive from the backside forward. Something Bridgette & Kevie have never done. Tell me, would you have stood there and done nothing if you saw this senseless torture??

  • have you trained he fox to care for animals?

  • Nope. Bridgette has a strong maternal instinct.

  • The fox is sweet, normally you'd think the fox would eat it - but being it's guardian and protector is amazing.

  • oooohh look at that gorgeous bushy tail~~

  • "knowing my love for animals.." ...except cats, of course. *shakes head at hypocrisy*

  • Hmmm...head shakes could be a symptom of an underlying neurological condition? I know that Bridgette & Kevie shake their head whenever they get water in the ears...either way, I'd definitely have it checked out if I were you. Do you have a question about Bridgette & Kevie or did you just want to inform me and all of Youtube that you head shakes??

  • Overly defensive and passive aggressive - signs of a deep psychological condition. Poor soul.

  • Ya know your lack of attention and total misjudgement of my character really has me concerned that you've suffered some sort of head trauma. Perhaps from shaking your head too much. I strongly suggest you stop doing that. I really have better things to do than to read your troll drivel and since you obviously don't have a question about Bridgette & Kevie...not to mention your comments are both negative AND derogatory, you will be blocked. Good byeeeeee

  • Um yeah...shuttup. Enough said.

  • hehehe good one hawkster! ;o)

  • What an ass. If he would at least use his common sense, the feral cat wasn't the one having its life endangered. This bunny had just begun to live, and SpiritWhiteFox2 said nothing about harming the feral cat to save the bunny. So, her love for animals should not be questioned or mistaken as hypocrisy. If she didn't love animals, she would've let the feral cat rip apart that little bunny. So in my opinion, she did the right thing.

    <3

  • Do a barrel roll!

  • *Bridgette stares at you with scared eyes* NOOO not peppy!!! Dx lol

  • oh that is so precoise!!!! (srry if i miss spelled that) you can tell she is really smart and can tell that the bunny is hurt so she tried to help! she is a very caring fox :)

  • uhhhhh well im sure the fox would have eaten the baby bunny had this been the wild. My own dogs eat and play with baby bunnies a lot because i live on a farm. I dont like it but im not going to call them stupid for being dogs.. All animals have to eat...

  • Again...although domesticated, Bridgette still maintains some of her preditory instincts. She has killed and continues to kill the unsuspecting critter that happens to wonder into the habitat. Mostly birds and small rodents. That's what makes this video so unusual and Bridgette so awesome, she didn't kill the baby rabbit. Rather she nurtured it.

  • why you dont take the bunny to a vet or kill it? so it dies slow :-(

  • Wouldn't the Fox eat the rabbit? Because aren't rabbits on the top of the menu for foxes? But yet again the fox in this vid seems tame unlike a wild Fox who eats rabbits.

  • No matter how tame the fox is, it still maintains it's preditor instinct. Bridgette has killed and continues to kill the unsuspecting critter that happens to wonder into the habitat. That's what makes this video so unusual and Bridgette so awesome, she didn't kill the baby rabbit. Rather she nurtured it.

  • Yup Foxes are related to wolves and coyotes and they will be a hunter just like a wolf or coyote.

  • Even though feral cats are a problem, it's not right to just shoot them... especially if your shot doesn't kill them right away, they'll suffer before they die. I think it's good that people are spaying and neutering them. In areas where this is done, the population of feral cats has decreased significantly. This is a humane way to keep the cats from continually breeding, and to keep the native wildlife safe.

  • but you did cheat the kitty out of a meal, did you pay it back with some food after?

  • And encourage it to stay around or invite it's feral buddies to come and join in the party? Are you nuts??

  • At least it keeps the rabbit population under control, did you know it costs cities nation wide between 25-200 dollars to get rid of a single rabbit when their populations explode?

  • That amount is minor compared to the vet bill I'd have to pay for taking both foxes because of some disease they've acquired from a feral cat. I'm just not willing to risk putting Bridgette & Kevie through all that.

  • I'm afraid you didn't react correctly. Rabbits can become a pest, and predators help keeping this creature's population at bay.

No matter how hard the rabbit was screaming, if it's going to die anyways, you should have let the cat have her food. Maybe right now she has hungry kittens expecting the food you stole from them.

I'm sorry, but I can't approve your actions.

  • I can't approve of people trying to Disney-fy my videos and I'm not sorry about it. The cat was a tom, there were no kittens to feed. I guess you rather the cats found opportunity in finding food here and bringing their feral diseases to my foxes??

  • Disney what???

I don't get your comment. What has a wild cat hunting a wild rabbit, got to do with your foxes getting infected with anything?

Wouldn't it be more risky to have the fox with a wounded animal that has been bitten, in the same cage?

And why do you get heated? I don't think I said anything offensive, I just stated an opinion, as valid as the next.

  • Stray cats need to be put to sleep. All they do is spread disease and produce more feral diseased cats.

  • Actually the morons who take the easy way out by dumping them somewhere instead of taking responsibility should be put to sleep. Cat's are not a native wild species, whereas rabbits and foxes are.

  • what a good fox it looks really nice - and did the lil bunny die

  • B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L I love the fox!

  • Bridgette is very beautiful and majestic.. very. =|

I wish to one day take care of my own pet..

  • You are a very caring person, thank God there are still people like you in this world.

  • There's a very sad video I remember seeing similar to this. A lioness' cub dies, and she adopts a baby gazelle. Sadly it doesn't end well, when after a week or two the gazelle (unable to feed from the lioness) is killed by other members of her pride.

  • I would've murdered the damn cat, I gotta tell you. Poor little bunny.

  • Well, could you perhaps consider that it's the cat's nature? All seem to forget that cats are still predators ( no matter mine just lied curled up on my father's chest as a big floofy ball of purring and fur ) and kill smaller animals such as mice, birds and young rabbits. It's simply instinct, and the feral cats need to hunt to survive.

  • Yes but feral cats are not a native, wild species like rabbits and foxes are. They're the product of lazy humans who don't take responsibilities but would rather just dump them off somewhere. Then it becomes somebody else's problem. Understand?

  • Oh yes, I understand. I feel sorry for the cats to have just been dumped by their owners. I'm glad my cats are fortunate to have taken into a loving home. I didn't mean to offend anyone, and respect that you saved the little rabbit.

  • So sad....:(

  • And at the same time it's awe inspiring that Bridgette didn't kill the bunny right?

  • It is! :)

    Good Bridgette!

  • Poor baby bunny. D:

But it was going to die, anyways. At least let the cats eat it after it dies, they need to eat, too. Actually, it would have been a quicker death to let the cat keep it.

It's not the cats' fault that they're feral, it's irresponsible humans' faults.

They're just hunting to survive, like foxes would do in the wild.

A wild fox would have eaten that baby bunny in a heartbeat.

  • Wow. Eating a rabbit is a foxe's natural instinct. This is amazing.

  • common... just 1 bite?

  • great video but you claim you have love for animals yet you call cats stupid? really?

  • Humans are smart but killin a baby anything can still be called stupid as in itself the act.

  • So she can't feel sorry for the baby rabbit and feel angry about the animals that hurt it? SHUT UP. You are making yourself look stupid.

  • Normally I would have just chalked it up as 'nature' but hearing the baby bunnies tormented screams, how can anybody NOT get angered at the cat?

  • I agree. I would have done the same. It's a baby animal in trouble after all. Good ol' mama fox looking out for the poor thing.

  • anyone who knows that feral cats don't want to starve

  • mikarabidkitsune you are an idiot. as SpiritWhiteFox2 said it is "Nature" one can not claim to have a love for animals when one does not acknowledge the meaning of nature when wild animals are concerned. unlike SpiritWhiteFox2 you bring your stupid one-sided emotions to the table, showin' you know nothing about animals, makin' yourself look even more stupid than you think

  • Why not take he rabbit to a vet or animal hospital? Same thing happened to me. There were 3 baby rabbits out in my families front yard. A few days after the rabbits were born, we found a the baby rabbits killed out in the street.

  • poor rabbit is it still alive?

  • That's the right thing to do...such a kind fox.

  • Why didn't you take it to a vet?

  • This is surprising. I didn't know foxes displayed maternal instinct to other animals.

I've seen the same thing in golden retrievers, actually - those dogs will often "adopt" baby animals of entirely different species and mother them, guard them, etc. Do you think it's just Bridgette or do foxes in general when tame display this kind of behaviour?

  • pretty fox :]

  • wow, she gets even more beautiful on the sun

and yeah you could scare a predator that is coming to eat your chikens instead of shooting it, the only problem is that it will get the message and do it when you sleep

nothing about being good or bad, animals just are ^^

  • Thats why I shoot feral cats. I hate those damn things and they damage the wild life.

  • Excuse me, but feral cats are just as much part of the wildlife as any other animal is. You are a very stupid person if you actually shoot them just because of your prejudice against them. They have a right to survive in this world just as much as any bear, snake, or wolf. It's sad how cats get a bad rep for only doing what nature intended them when humans really do no better. You need to check yourself and wake up from your own stupidity.

  • You're ignorance is apparent in your post. The DNR, if you know what the stands for, instructs to shoot them. People provide safe havens for cats in barns, under homes, ect which is NOT natural, leading to over population. They are devastating pheasant, quail, duck, goose, and a variety of other animal populations. I work with the DNR in my state in a Glacial restoration project (WI), so I think I'll listen to them before you. Wake up for your own stupidity before making dumb posts.

  • Well you sure have a really bad attitude. First of all, you did not explain any of this. You just went and said, "i like shoot feral cats." That's like a police officer saying, "i shoot people when i think they should be shot," without explaining that he actually holds a badge.

Another thing, while people providing homes for cats, feral or not, is not nature, it is a form of domestication. Domestication of animals has been part of life for thousands of years.

  • i have a rabbit named usagi.

  • Your comment made me chuckle.

  • Actually taking in feral cats is more a part of taming than domestication. Even when feral, housecats are technically domesticated since domestication is a slow process that takes an entire species into account. Other animals (like foxes!) are not domesticated, but can be tamed. (Though there has been lots of scientific research into domestication of foxes in the past century or so)

  • Typo in the previous post: Wake up FROM your own stupidity.

Search Wisconsin Glacial Habitat Restoration Areas in google. It'll give you a better idea of what we're doing. Killing the over populated cats is saving TONS of natural wild life. Bugger off you damn hippies.

  • Although I understand the need of population control is vital and important, your attitude just sux and I wouldn't trust you with a gun. I'm surprised you were given license to shoot animals with such a bad personality, and perhaps you went into this business because you get some sick joy out of your job. You're not a very good representation of your organization, are you. Btw, are you always this mad? Perhaps some anger management can help =)

  • I didn't think I was coming off as angry. It is hard to pick up on emotion while reading text. I was actually in the military for 3 years also, so I hope you'd trust me with a gun ;) I didn't mean to imply that I enjoy killing things, because I don't enjoy it, but I do enjoy helping sustain the ecosystem. I didn't mean to get so defensive, I just get so much crap from hippies and cat lovers that it gets hard sometimes. Hope I didn't offend you too much. Have a nice day :)

  • I'm sure that you don't condone killing "Fluffy" and I, too, have seen the damage that feral cats can do. My family has been into rescue/rehab for many years and the majority of illnesses we've run into are from feral cats rather than the native wildlife. I think the only cases we've found...if I remember correctly...in the native wildlife were mange and maybe distemper but these were very rare. However with feral cats, the list is a whole lot longer and more frequent.

  • I have a domestic cat who's been neutered. As a cat owner, I understand what you're doing. People seriously need to spay and neuter their pets. They also need to make sure their pets are up to date with their vaccinations. If cats are left to nature, unchecked and wild, then there will most definitely be problems with the ecosystem. It's almost like passively supporting and harboring gangs, in a way.

  • Very good advice my friend! :o)

  • Going by that, why don't we just kill off a bunch of humans, too? We're over-populated and are killing tons of animals, as well.

  • @SecksTheSniper Except they make that illegal. There should be a human season.

  • @Hopelessly13Broken

    Right? I agree. xD;

  • if a coyote went after your chickens, would you shoot it? hell yes. if a feral cat went after your chickens, would you shoot it? i know id shoot it and its not because its a cat. its because its trying to kill the chickens. do you get where im coming from?

  • Or you could be intelligent like a person and just keep your chickens somewhere safe eh?

  • Here's the thing: If a thief goes after your family silver, you put locks on the doors and windows, or buy a safe. That's the price of having family silver. The price of having chicks is using chicken wire properly, 7' above the ground and 1' under it. Would you have any sympathy for someone who lost silver because they were too stupid to buy door lucks?

  • she is a reeeeeeeaaaalllly caring and loving mother.
