Wrong war, lol. Related to this topic though, Richthofen's grave in Berlin was close to where the Russians built the Berlin Wall in 1961. He was reburied in the family burial plot in Wiesbaden in 1975..
@BicyclingGuitarist wasnt the red barron exhumed 3 times didnt they move him the first time because red barrons grave was in the way of building the berlin wall,,I read somewhere that at one point they opened up his coffin to look for a plack that was placed in there, but when they did,,they found no plack but his remains were well preserved all except for his skull which was due to the plane crash,,didnt they move him 3 different times,,
@MajBlood Roy Brown almost certainly did not fire the fatal shot, although he was definitely one of the factors involved in the Red Baron's death. It has been known for decades now that Richthofen was almost certainly killed by someone shooting at him from the ground. Brown's high-speed pass may have distracted the Red Baron long enough to save Lt. May's life though, and also made it possible for the Aussies on the ground to kill Richthofen.
@BicyclingGuitarist No no history has proven it was Roy Brown who shot down the Baron. Don't listen to anything that the Aussies or ignorant Americans will tell you! Even if some Aussie shot the Baron by complete luck, it would be because Roy Baron herded the Baron into Allied support gunner range. So Brown was the one who won, and was definetely the greatest factor leading to the Barons demise.
@MajBlood Dude, I've been studying this subject intensely for forty-five years now, and I have been convinced for at least the past forty years that Brown probably didn't do it, although it is completely understandable why Brown made the claim in good faith.
Your statement that "history has proven it was Roy Brown" is very, very wrong. You don't seem to know as much about this event as you think you do. By any chance, are you Canadian, eh?
@MajBlood I don't recall Canada being the only Free Country in the world... I don't recall Canada being the main army to defeat the Nazi's in WWII or WWI.
@frostwav Hmm well I would give Britain a close second. Being the great empire and all. Germany has had a great history as well, but has lost its country in recent years, becoming just another European country.
@MajBlood Ok, Roy Brown shot him, but it didnt kill him. He shot, the red baron was hit in the left arm, he falls to the ground, thats what killed him. so Roy did kill the red baron
@u452u There is no record anywhere of Richthofen being shot in the left arm. What killed him was a bullet through the chest that was fired from the ground. Brown contributed to the Red Baron's death by distracting him, but the Red Baron was almost certainly killed by gunfire from Australian troops. Your sources are incorrect.
I don't think so. The pilot, Captain D.C. Cunnell and the observer 2nd Lt. A.E. Woodbridge were both British so far as I know. Cunnell was killed a few days later but Woodbridge survived the war.
National pride is fine, but it can lead to ugly things like war.
hello people, russia took germany in the race to berlin with us!
