Why would anybody go to a VU video to bash some great under appreciated old school diddy when you can go to a sell out creed or nickelback video and raise cain there? Please..do that instead!?!
@93MickyD1 no offense to the beatles. love them. But they are excrutiatingly depressing too. THeir Rain song for example. THey just make it sound and feel sweeter on the surface. Believe me..that song is depressing underneath the initial ear orgasm and on down into its raw core. If you dont like V underground your being an obtuse dick. they are definately worthwhile. I guess that D is for Dick? Douche? what? lol
if likin the VU makes me a hipster then so be it. If likin classical makes me a pompouso. So be it. If listen to old blues makes me a olefoggie. OleFoggie me up baby! I guess im a pompous olefoggie hipster? haha. some people and the stories they tell huh.
@tyvegutt I'm sorry, I worded it a little wrong. I meant that the album itself transitions. Sunday Morning is probably their popiest song, next to Sweet Jane. And then it ends with European Son
this started so much better music than the beatles have started. the beatles weren't really "out there"; they were relatively bland and cookie-cutter - and it's ridiculous that they have become so ubiquitous in the music discussion forum. they aren't that great...use your ears...it's really basic, boring, and a ton of other bands were doing better shit (exhibit A: press play)
@TengoBoner you're nuts listen to revolver or rubber soul or meet the beatles they sold more units than any group duo or solo artist that says something
The Beatles and The Velvets are my two favorite bands. I think of them as black and white and both are omnipresent despite their different styles. They're the best and most influential bands in popular music, no reason to differentiate when both are perfect.
@janochanotariusz interesting, i 've always thought that this is very similar to sonic youth in the late 80's. Obviously they were a huge influence, I totally agree to what you're saying
Sort of. I think The Beatles were the only other modern groupe using violins in their music at the time. They were both early art rock. I do agree that they're AT LEAST as good,.. posibly even better.
@Skulldini i like the beatles but the only difference is that unlike the velvets the beatles couldnt play shit so they hired (or george martin hired) standard violin session players to pull if off PLUS the velvets made it sound like something different and cool
@elvispresley718 haha...i like the velvets better than the beatles and you're like "you elitist" haha...fucking joke, go and listen to Elvis or whatever...ew
@elvispresley718 ok ok...whatever...like if Elvis invented rock and roll..whatever you say "sir" and why am i an elitist? may i ask? cause i prefer the velvets over the beatles? it's a matter of taste and opinion...plus people STOP with "you sir...you sir..", fucking morons without identity
@elvispresley718 maybe....maybe not, depends on somebody's taste...i like dylan better than Van Morrison as a singer sometimes...yeh, i know, sounds silly. merry christmas btw
I used to think that The Beatles were the best band ever. Then I heard The Velvet Underground. There is no comparison; VU just crushes the supposed "Fab Four" into pieces.
I guess as a little kid, I was pretty alienated when it came to music. The only bands I was truly aware of were The Beatles and The Dismemberment Plan. Only recently has my brother been showing me a lot more music, and I've learned that there is so much more out there. I still have yet to find every little gem. :)
beatles are overrated, they had some great songs but not all of them were that good
