pretty good info. I just got one and loaded windows 7 on it, but the buttons to rotate the screen, lock the pc, don't work now. I did a clean install of win 7 and trying to download some of the software from Dell.
This rocks, i have it, but N-trig (Touch and pen provider) doesn't support there customers when there are problems, the most common is Cannot Connect to driver, failure to open device, i had to reinstall my os, and it still didn't work and its not even sensing the duosense screen. I have to get a new screen now, ???
Can you use Microsoft Word in Laptop mode and still draw on it, after taking a paragraph of notes? I'd also love to know about PDF's and printscreens. It'd be insanely awesome if you could write/draw notes on PDF's, hit printscreen and have it as an image.
hey, im days away from buying a new laptop, and have it down to two; either this tablet or a netbook. im wondering, if you still have this tablet around, are you experiencing any problems with the tablet? touch issues?, pen issues?, freezing, slowing down? battery life?. i really want this tablet but i have heard that some owners are having problems with theirs and am a little worried about ordering this. any problems with your dell xt on your end?
speaker(/s) is good quality. Not extra special. Same quality as tx2500z. Same loudness.
power saving with normal battery you can probably get 4 hours. 8 hours with Slate battery attachment.
HP's touch screen is good but it's probably half as good as the Latitude's. HP's you can't drag and drop easily with your finger because you have to press down hard on the screen. Normal clicks are ok.
On XT dragging is no problem. You just have to glide finger over screen.
Are you going to test the HP TX2z with its capacitive screen next to this Latitude XP TabletPC? I think this dell would be at a disadvantage in consumer use since its for corporate user in mind. However HP's 2739P is VERY light and the slate batt & mini-docstation (with integrated DVD Burner) works just like a stackable unit. Far too pricey for both this Dell and the 2730p though.
What about when you want to use the pen in Microsoft OneNote? I usually hold my hand ON the screen ( like on the regular notebook). Isn't the multitouch screen confused about where to point - the pen or hand that is holding the pen?
Does it always reject other entities present? I mean - have you noticed that when the pen is a bit too far away from the screen but still is, the problems arise? If not I think I will buy one.

get it. I use it every single day. Every. Single. Day.
Once you train yourself to use the touchscreen you won't be able to live without it. You will NEVER buy a regular laptop again and you will NEVER buy a tablet pc with resistive touch. The capacitive touch screen is a complete dominant winner in the competition.
would you say this is worth the price over the hp tx2500? but saw your review with the touch screen and sensitivity im having my doubts. (i'd most likely be using the laptop for school and drawing) then a bit of gaming :x
I also use OneNote and record lectures but on a Samsung Q1 UMPC. What is the calendar application you use called? The one on the right side of the screen.
Excellent review of the capacitive touch screen. I heard that the ntrig pressure sensitivity doesn't work for photoshop. Any other problems with the ntrig tech?
that was really useful , keep it up bro

Does your palm accidentley bump into the frame every now and then?

it has multi touch and all but you say you only get 2 hours of battery without the extra chunky battery attachment? and you say
the Hp has 4 with the power-saving (which would be pretty standard fare)
was the HP touch screen really that un-responsive?
oh and also, the speakers. just how bad/good is the audio quality? and how loud do they get?

the pen tells the screen to reject any other entities present.
