I don't know about who has the "perfect" voice, but Dave's is definitely better suited for songs like this. I've seen Phish butcher this song live so many times, that it's easy for me to say i like this version better than any live Phish version I've personally been there for....

But Phish's studio recording of "Waste" smashes this.

@thepooper2010 oh i know phish phans can be just as bad but DMB fans take the cake for stupid behavior.they were the asshole of the scene at rothbury 08 and completely made fools of themselves every chance they could...which is typical among phish phans to.i dig phish,but its irritating when im trying to enjoy the tunes when someone has to stop me every 20 seconds to see if i have any "party favors."your free to like what you want but im a DMB hater til death.

well of course phish's version is better, trey wrote it and trey sings it, this song means more to him than anyone else. he's gonna have the truest emotion singing it, which is why pretty much no matter what, the original songs are always just something about them that can't quite be matched

dave is a good artist. i went to his concert this summer at jones beach, second night was a really good show.

however, he sounds terrible compared to phish.

his style simply takes away from the song what phish brings. the prettiness, for lack of a better word, is lacking. he makes it into somewhat a country tune, and plays it too fast.

to an extent i agree with sodamlucky. he really should not be playing phish music...i say this as a fan of both artists.
