Just wondering why a lot of people can't keep their mouths shut when it comes to any horse besides their own favorite. Whether it be R.A, Zenyatta, Secretariet, Barbaro and so on. One of these is my favorite but I am smart enough to know that all the others are amazing also. Ignore the trolling comments from "most likely" young kids/teens or adults who say these things to get you mad. I say this because as a fan it's no fun to see horrible immature things said about what you hold dear to your
I was there, and that's the loudest old Saratoga ever got. The fans went wild and I can only compare it too Seccretariat's '73 Belmont at the "Big Sandy" , which I was fortunate to also see in person.
i hate the jockey. Stop whiping her! what do you think? Do you think she'll just up and grow wings? Fool.... I swear that horse gave her heart out and she gets that.
@TheExoticAnimal most of the time the are hardly touching them. it is more the sound and the sight of the whip that gets them moving. and besides Calvin is a great jockey. sometimes, you have use the whip to get them while asking for more
@IisHorses yeah, i can truthfully under stand that. But in some cases the jockeys do whip them hard it shows in the videos. My aunt owns a horse *Boo* He is a retired race horse and he's frightened if anything touches his hind quarters. Now i dont know if its because the whipping but im guessing it is because he cant stand them, even when exercising him. Do you own horses?
@TheExoticAnimal i have ridden retired racehorses too and none of them are whip shy. it could just be the horse is sensitive about that side. and otherwise, it is possible that Rachel would have lost if Calvin hadn't asked for more. and Calvin is one of the jockeys that doesn't use the whip unless he feels it is needed. which is rare.
I loved this horse but hated her connections. They only cared about the money and fame. Not the well fair of Rachel. Rachel was a great horse and would have been better if she was in the right hands. She would have been great in 2010 if they didn't blow her out in 2009.
@BreyerGirl25 that is partly due to the strategy and a willingness of the horse. If a race is longer, they dont stretch her/push her pace until the "final stretch". Now obviously, by the same logic and very truely too, Zenyatta would have won the BC classic 2010 had it been a stride longer!
I guess you didn't notice the fact she opened up on Macho Again by about 5 lengths in the gallop out. It was her race, and she knew it. She wasn't letting ANYONE surpass her that day. Great stuff.
It's a shame she burned out. She was a really great horse. The difference between her and Zenyatta (without saying one is better than the other) is that RA ran in a lot of fast and hard-won races early on which is really draining.
It's a shame that there's a handful of what I can only presume to be Rachel haters going around to all her race videos and marking "dislike" on them. It won't get Z the 2009 HOY so let it go. She should've run in the 2008 Classic where she would've beaten a synthetic-hating Curlin, and gotten HOY then. I thought she was better than him that year anyway. A great horse wins races with gutsy performances, and you dislike that? Well not much in this world must make you happy.
@MissingMoya I'll say it again i'm a Zenyatta fan but my personal preference (or anyone elses) does'nt in the least bit diminish this super fillies legacy......May all of R.A's and Zenyattas Foals turn out to be like their Moms........... Long live Rachel Alexandra...
As spectacular as this performance was from Rachel, this race was unfortunately her undoing. Up against the older males going at that pace really took a toll on her, you can see it on her gallop-out after the wire, she looks so drained. And she didn't recover from this as we saw in 2010. Its a good thing they didn't take her to the BC in 09. She would have been dusted in the Classic, and as we saw in the Personal Ensign '10 she wanted no part of 1 1/4 miles, and I doubt she'd have won the BCLC.
@DBJKAJ - Hmmm jackass, let's see Macho Again won the GR1 Stephen Foster before this Woodward, and BullsBay won the Whitney. Da'Tara the rabbit won the Belmont stakes in 08. Oh and before you laugh, CCM is a multiple stakes winner, and multiple G3,G2,G1 placed. Not sure what your uneducated ass is trying to laugh at?. They threw 2 huge closers(watch a race and learn), and 2 rabbits to run her into the ground going 22 in the opening 1/4m, and she STILL beat them . DBJKAJ= Farce.
One of best displays of heart I have ever seen a race horse give(Aside from Silver Charm,Affirmed/Alydar, Big Red). A tremendous 3 year old. See looked those two big bad boys in the eye and Said HELL NO!.
Don't know what's happened to announcer Tom Durkin these past few years, but he really did a great job calling this race. Absolutely nailed it. One of the best moments in racing, for sure.
Yea and what makes u think rachel alexandra wont be on that list... Because clearly zenyatta can only beat males once, thats pretty pathetic... Oh and Curlin was much better than Bernardini so haha who has the better foal, not Zenyatta thats for sure
italianbro1234: what are you so upset about? Rachel was a wonderful 3-yr old filly but Z was a horse for the ages. I'm sorry you don't get it, but it would take a change of heart on your part to understand. Let's see who's on the greatest t-breds of the 21st century list; check back with you in a decade!
Leg weary girl, the beginning of the end for her. In hindsight we learn her limitations and the less than ideal campaign that brought them to light--poor ownership, poor training, poor riding, super filly. Long live Team Zenyatta under whom great gifts are nurtured patiently, enabling a transformative relationship with fans (as opposed to RA's connections' hustling her off after a loss with no fanfare.
@pdbeck1 wow u are such a typical Zenyatta lover, because i didn't see Zenyatta putting up the greatest campaign by any horse of an age, Rachel put up the greatest campaign by a 3 year old filly. It must be so hard for Zenyatta to beat male horses once in her career, Rachel raced against males and dominated and ran in every condition and put up great stats. The Haskell she put up the fasted Beyer speed figure of the year, yeah thats right faster than Zenyatta, and it was on a sloppy track.
Oh yes, applaud Zenyatta's connections for pitting her up against good competition ONCE a year. Give them an award for surrounding her with endless media to make her a nerve-wracked mare who doesn't dance, but strikes out because she wants some damn space. She was very mismanaged if you think of it. The Jacksons did a noble thing of keeping their mare away from the greedy hands of the media.
Riva Ridge won the 1972 Hollywood Derby. But, in doing so, the horse was 'ruined' because he was pushed too hard, and never was the same again. I hate to say it, but I think that's what happened here. An amazing horse giving every ounce of heart and power, and pretty much leaving it there. To me, she will always be Alexandra The Great. What an awesome year 2009 was to be a horse racing fan!
I hope she has a filly that looks just like her, and runs just as fast...or faster. When RA was a 2 yr. old, she broke a track record for fastest time. She'd been racing for 3 yrs. and with her last workouts seemed as if she still had it, but I'm not an expert.
What if she hadn't been eased towards the end her 2009 races like Haskell, Mother Goose, and Kentucy Oaks? She'd hold more records than she already does...and those span across generations.
Some observers have been very critical of Rachel Alexandra's performances in 2010, but no one will ever take away what she accomplished, & this race features her at her very best. Which was nothing short of great.
they came after her with two early speed horses yet she dug in and put everything she had into this race... unfortunately, this performance may have cost her her career - never the same after this performance.
I think Tom Durkin's call really made this win seem bigger than it was. At the same time, I love seeing a tested horse respond with gas in the tank in deep stretch. Awesome win. Enjoy retirement. I want to see a Curlin foal.
And for all the Moss haters out there. When Zen comes roaring down the stretch of the Classic again, remember how exciting of a moment that is (whether she wins or not) and then you will realize the Mosses did the right thing by racing.
I would not call it "greed". I would call it stupidity. You cannot run females hard against the males several times and expect the filly/mare to hold/regain her form. Kudos to Zen's connections for not falling into this trap.
@bunkhouse I don't see what else they could've done since they said early that they weren't taking her to the BC. She won the Haskell with ease. The Preakness from the 13th position gave her a little more of a challenge because she didn't like the track according to Borel. She could've raced fillies but she would beat them by huge margins.
Do you remember that many of the haters questioned the 3 year olds? So, she won against older males and was crowned HOY & Rachel Alexandra the Great.
@duhru4real Macho Again and Bullsbay had just come off recent G1 wins when she faced them. 2009 not good enough, how about when she was 2 yrs old and she broke a track record for speed.
??? Zenyatta has not won at the Classic Distance of 10 furlongs on dirt either.
Connections for L.A.T. stated that the strategy used is what cost RA 1st place in the PE, and her 2nd place. Still, RA finished a close second on a deep dirt field, and left LAT (won several 10 f) many lengths behind.
@duhru4real - Well i would think that since she ran the Fastest Haskell since '76, She has 3 records in Stakes company for Biggest Winning Margins(Being Eased), 3 Stakes Records for Time, and recorded the Fastest Beyer in 2009 at 116. Only Filly to ever win the Woodward especially vs Older horses, with Gr 1/ Gr2 Stakes wins under their belts. Oh and Forget the Fact that she won The Preakness from the 13th hole, and for shits and giggles ..she also won at 8 different tracks :) ALL ON DIRT!.
Well, now that she is retired, if I could have gone back in time and picked a race of hers to attend, I would have picked this one. I think this was Rachel at her best, at her gutsiest, digging deep down and giving her all. Thanks again Rachel for everything.
Of course its U-N-C-O-N-D-I-T-I-O-N-A-L...love for the fans of Rachel Alexandra...
...because she can't win a Grade I anymore.
Rachel Alexandra was the most overhyped eastern-based press horse that I have seen since Easy Goer.
Here we have Macho Again breeding down in Venezuela because the Lexington, KY outfits wanted no part of him in the breeding shed, and you have a horse named "Mine That Bird" that will never win another Grade I event in his lifetime.
Its funny how you re-post the same crap every video. Macho Again this, Mine That Bird that. Give the damn horse a break!! You sound like an Uber-fag for downing this gorgeous horse.
Of course the fans have U-N-C-O-N-D-I-T-I-O-N-A-L love for Rachel Alexandra...

WOW! That was friggin awesome. Right up there with the best fillies ever. I would have to change my shorts if Zen and Rachel busted outa the gate in the same race. Depending on a few variables I would have the moan on RACHEL. Speed kills boys and girls.
@europeracing And that matters because??? Past greats have shuttled to other places for breeding seasons. Sunday Silence, Silver Charm etc.. There are many horses similar to Macho Again that have been accepted by farms in Lex, KY. You are just an idiot.
I do not understand questioning why Zen doesn't ship east. She is the Queen, and by far. Like the old saying goes: "To be the man, you have to beat the man". They should come to her- synthetics or not.
Trevor Denmon sounds so much more intuitive, sharp , on point, counscious, and with-it compared to some of the East Cost track anounncers. Sorry, but this guy sounds awful compared to Trevor.
@patr70 You must be joking. This is one of the best race cals I have ever heard; and I am not a big Durkin fan per se. But this call which oozes excitement and drama beats Denman's "Let's see..." routine any day.
Even if he points out the so called facts, I have hardly ever seen a comment from him that says anything good about this horse. I am not a SAP or into the hype. If you hadn't noticed duh, other Jockeys in other races have done the number one sign or salute/win. It's called being excited they won on a really good horse. We were promised a great campaign from both the connections this year and neither held up to that promise.
@ISBAILEYDEADYET, I don't think so, Zen is a great horse but so is Rachel. Anyway, they will never meet, the Mosses will surely decide not to ship Z out of Cal again. She has the record, and being ultra conservative her whole career, they wont risk anything now by shipping to KY for BC.
'Ultra conservative' ? Taking on the best 10 furlong colts in the world?!! :-) That wouldn't be 'ultra conservative' in my book!!
In any case, it's always easier to hold no more fears of being beaten once ...you've been beaten! Zenyatta has won them all, and is yet to sample the taste of defeat. It's also easy to say that connections would want to keep her unbeaten.....why wouldn't they?!! This doesn't mean to say they'll duck anything out there that may be considered a threat.
I love this horse too, mmcattle. She is still a great filly, she carried top wt last 2 races coming in 2nd, not even at 100% yet. Many fans, many admirers, Go Rachel!!!
GBeret83 - I'm not sure I think RA is done, we'll see. As for her being better off with wiggins, I sorta agree, except she would have never run the Preakness, or Wood or Haskel.
The whole RA. v. Zen nonsense is boring. Why does everything in all these little minds have to be either, or. Constant battles. I think there are just a lot of losers out there that have to pump themselves up by trashing a "HORSE". What they don't grasp is their still losers....
Take a good look America!! This is the race. The one that because of a totally EGO DRIVEN campaign to claim 2009 HOY, ran a pretty decent filly straight into the ground. Big thanks go out to Jess Jackson and Steve Asmussen. Because now, stick a fork in that filly, she's done. R.A. would have been better off with Hal Wiggins, her original owner. This filly, beat Zenyatta? That's laughable folk's. These days, Zenyatta wouldn't have to break out of an exercise canter to run by R.A. in the stretch.
duhru - I hate to bother - your such a TOOL. The La Troinne is the fastest RA 1 1/16 RA time ***except** she was being eased in all the others --- DUH.. Hey but; you know it all.
Speaking of DONKEY"S!!
Keep watching those Mr ED reruns you'll figure it out...... Mr POS
@fanofbt EASED? HAHAHAHAHA. You people don't know how to watch a race. Rachel does not ease, she runs as fast as she can till Borel sits up and pulls her. That is just the way she is.
I don't moron when the jockey is standing up in the stirrups and pointing his fingers to the sky with the #1 sign - I just sorta figure the horse is eased -- DUH
@fanofbt MAN OH MAN..that OVERRATED RACHEL's HYPE gone wild. I know she has taken in a lot of you rookies in but I never knew the scope of how much she has affected you clowns. THIS OVERRATED FILLY HAS LOST TO GRADE 2 and 3 horses in her last 2 races. THAT IS NOT A SUPER FILLY or that big bs filly for the ages. YEAH CALVIN IS STANDING UP AND POINTING TO THE SKY FOR VISUAL EFFECTS BUT THAT IS AFTER THE OVERRATED RACHEL HAS ALREADY CROSSED THE FINISH LINE. LOLOLOL
@fanofbt YAP CALVIN DOES THAT POINTING TO THE SKY NUMBER ONE SO THAT SAP SUCKERS LIKE YOU THINK IT WAS SUCH AN EASY RACE!! LOL
The only easy race Rachel had was against the allowance females she raced against BUT AGAINST THE BOYS, CALVIN WHIPPED THE SHT OUT OF HER. EVEN in the HASKELLS, CALVIN was so unsure about her winning that he continued to whip Rachel towards the finish when she had clearly won the race. LOL Calvin is great with his showmanship to further Rachel's HYPE against the fillies.
Well what I don't understand is - if RA is such a donkey why oh why did Zen's connections want to race her. Why are all the Zen freaks always trashing her- why bother?? Also the whole gang of know nothings have already started their bull about this years 3 yr olds being such a poor crop.
I don't think any of these yahoo's have ever seen a horse up close, they read the Black Stallion is 3rd grade and think they have it all figured out. NOT
@fanofbt I didn't say Rachel is a donkey. Rachel is a very good filly who raced donkeys in the Oaks and mules in the Woodward. Rachel was never great, super filly or filly for the ages. I don't trash her. I state facts.
This race was the beginning of the end for Rachel Alexandra. Over 20+ cracks at her ass to hold off Macho Again? This exposed her struggle against open company. Three straight races outside her age group and she has struggled. Like a Heisman Trophy winner moving up to the pros. Different story, different results.
i was there. it was a great race but the horses came out way too fast going at 22.85 at the 1/4 mile point. there was a lot of bumping but there were no fouls called. ofcourse i picked Past the Point, which was a dissapointment
@kerkhoff1 Rachel is the same horse as last year. Look at her mile time on the La Troinne and her mile at the Kentucky Oaks when she wowed the world beating donkeys.
1:36 3/5 for both races. Now at 4, Rachel is running against top quality horses. If there were any top quality horses last year, she would have lost 2 or 3 of those races.
@duhru4real hahahahahahah, mule's huh? gabby's golden gal is a G1 winning mule, the old man still sits around and does nothing other then bash a horse. You need to get a girlfriend .. or a job
@Willyrooster So was Macho Again! he accidentally won ONE gr 1 race and for some reason, he is this grade 1 horse that overrated Rachel beat! HAHAHAHAHA
@duhru4real ya, flashing was a mule too, she has only one 2 g1's .. and Macho again didnt deserve that G1.. he only beat einstein. Gabby's golden gal has one 2 G1's also, the santa monica and the acorn. Summer bird couldn't win anything, and Quality road is not at all impressive nor are they G1 winners... ha.. , your ignorance is always entertaining tho...
@Willyrooster Flashing 2 gr1 are against donkeys too. Macho again and Bullsbay last and 2nd to last in the gr2 Clark oh and they were last and third to last in the gr3 Alysheba this weekend. The only reason MA beat Einstein is cuz Einstein got beat up while MA got a clean trip. The only reason Rach beat SB and QR is cuz she was mature then they were midyear but when then she skip the Travers cuz they knew Rach has no chance then but entered the gr3 Woodward. LOL
@duhru4real lets look at the the mile time when she hit 133 and 1/5 at the belmont. Obviously she has not hit her form from last year, and mean while, Zenyatta's owner's will bitch about not winning horse of the year, because they are shipping back to SA to run for 250 k, against the same horses she always beats.. nice campaign
@Willyrooster Rachel ran the fastest 1 1/16 in the La Troienne ever. The only difference is she is now running aginst quality horses instead of donkeys. She is still the same Rachel and all those who is saying she is lost a step are full of it. Competition at 4 is so different than the little boys and gurls she was beating up last year.
@Willyrooster You're the only clown here. The La Troinne is the fastest 1 1/16th Rachel has ever ran. PERIOD. but now she is going against top horses. NOT DONKEYS!!
This race was slightly better than her last one yes.... I would retire he though. She looked good early in the race just loping along, Calvin just waited and waited on her. Probably because he knew he didnt have alot of horse. When he called on her she fought, but just doesnt have that burst she had last year. Expecially after going 25 and 49. Should of have much much more kick than that.
Jerm, I got your message. There just hasn't been much news about Rachel so there's not much to say. I am looking forward to Quality Road's return in the Met Mile on May 31. When Rachel is not running he's my favorite horse to follow. Sadly, the three year olds aren't as good or as much fun as last year. What have you been tracking?
@projectshowdown Rachel is the same horse as last year 2009. Look at her mile time on the La Troinne and her mile at the Kentucky Oaks when she wowed the world beating donkeys.
1:36 3/5 for both races. Now at 4, Rachel is running against top quality horses. If there were any top quality horses last year, she would have lost 2 or 3 of those races!
She never was a super filly or filly for the ages but I'll give her HOY for the grueling campaign she ran. She at least deserves that
@kerkhoff1 The 2009 Woodward was way over her head. She was punched out of there. And her last quarters weren't that good to begin with and Borel really had to whip her hard on tough races.
Game Day. Feels like pregame when you get dressed 3 hrs before and sit AND WAIT. AND WAIT. AND WAIT. I feel like I'm running today. Maybe I'll go for a run. Or go play 18 holes.
Haha I think she is more than 90% ready. If she dead fit? Probably not, but she is probably very fit by now, and will probably be dead fit after this race.
As for my prediction, Rachel by 5 1/2. She only lost by one length when she was going into that race a complete mess. I think she has sharpened up, Calvin will ride her his way ( Not to mention CD is Calvin's track) It seems to shape up to a pretty nice win IMO.
@kerkhoff1 FIT OR NOT, is she LOSES, she is done racing!! Asmussen says he does not know if Rachel still has the same speed as last year? HUH? the 2 time eclipse trainer does not know how fast Rachel is?
"well, as I suspected, Rachel is bigger and stronger but not as fast as she was as a 3 year old"
@duhru4real I agree, If Rachel loses we will see her retired. In my mind their shouldnt be much of an excuse this time. It quite simply good be that the Wood completely destroyed her. The Belmont did it to Rags. We will see where she is at today.
durhu, did I claim I knew for sure what would happen tomorrow? C'mon. Of course I don't know, that's why it's a "prediction." And yes, a prediction is like a guess. I'm wondering about your logic.
@mvlach77 You cannot be criticized by guessing wrong!! Like I said I don't bet horses at the highes level. Zardana might like this track much better than FG and smoked Rachel. NODOBY REALLY KNOWS and anybody who think they know is FULL OF IT.
Now If we were in a track and we watch the same horses in the same meet, I probably would be guessing too but at lower rate.
The time for arguing is over but the time for predictions is now. I predict that Rachel is on the lead or slighly behind very early, takes the lead half way down the backstretch and goes on to a 4-6 length victory. I won't even predict what the other horses do because it's all about Rachel.
@mvlach77 Well goodluck. You are not predicting, you are guessing. It's like when people predicted that Rach would win the NOL at 50% or Zenyatta has no chance in the Classic.
Use the Summer & Fall Solstice kerkoff. Use the Myan calendar. Use the tide charts. El Nino. The Chinese New Year. Barometic pressure. What's wrong with you ??
- comparing horses times on different tracks is worthless, specially top horses who ship from track to track. Yeah you will have the exemptions like Zenyatta and Rachel but in the long run betting top grade horses is a losing proposition
- you can only use time on horses who runs at the same track and stays at the same track - that is why claimers are the best horses to handicap and win money
@kerkhoff1 When I watch top level racing, the only thing I look at is HOW THE HORSE RUNS. Rachel does great up to about 7.5 furlongs but then she starts to really breath hard. Those big margins 20 lengths are a joke, those fillies she beat on are jokes. Yeah she ran well in the Haskells but that was a wet sealed track that could produce faster times.
The other problem with Rachel is she is bred NOT TO RATE just like Medag.
Horses like Rach easily burns out cuz they can't relax.
@kerkhoff1 I never ever bet top level horses because they ship, tracks surfaces differs and these horses situations are hard to predict. You can't even watch most of their workouts. Yeah Rachel did a few bullets but who is to say she was a little bit ranked and not relax at all that is why she had a bullet or two workouts.
Duhru her 9F races she hit the 8.5F mark about 1.5-2 Seconds faster that her NOL time. How come you never bring up Zenyatta pulling the CH out of her ass against Annabas Creation? It doesnt matter how much you win by! The thing that is unfortunate about Rachel is if she doesnt win by 5+ lengths it was a bad race! Zen has won by 5+ what once or twice in her career?
@kerkhoff1 Don't show your ignorance this game. Those times were on different tracks and even if they were on the same track, track surface changes from month to month, year to year and even hour to hour. So don't use time as a gauge in horseracing. IT IS WORTHLESS!!
How about Zen's people saying they want to showcase her to different tracks so they can enjoy her? Pulleeeze! Just words. They don't want to fly over the Rockies.
Zardana would have destroyed the fillies last year by 20 lengths? I hate to shatter your bubble but neither Zardana nor Zenyatta would have beaten those fillies by 20 lenghts. Just not their style of running Zardana is Ms. Inconsitant, and Zenyatta just does what she needs to.

The most exciting race i have ever seen!
BarbaroFan08 8 months ago
As spectacular as this performance was from Rachel, this race was unfortunately her undoing. Up against the older males going at that pace really took a toll on her, you can see it on her gallop-out after the wire, she looks so drained. And she didn't recover from this as we saw in 2010. Its a good thing they didn't take her to the BC in 09. She would have been dusted in the Classic, and as we saw in the Personal Ensign '10 she wanted no part of 1 1/4 miles, and I doubt she'd have won the BCLC.

Quiz: How many Grade I wins between those 3 horses?
2009 Woodward.= Farce.
DBJKAJ 9 months ago
DBJKAJ= Farce.

pdbeck1 1 year ago
Leg weary girl, the beginning of the end for her. In hindsight we learn her limitations and the less than ideal campaign that brought them to light--poor ownership, poor training, poor riding, super filly. Long live Team Zenyatta under whom great gifts are nurtured patiently, enabling a transformative relationship with fans (as opposed to RA's connections' hustling her off after a loss with no fanfare.
pdbeck1 1 year ago
@pdbeck1 wow u are such a typical Zenyatta lover, because i didn't see Zenyatta putting up the greatest campaign by any horse of an age, Rachel put up the greatest campaign by a 3 year old filly. It must be so hard for Zenyatta to beat male horses once in her career, Rachel raced against males and dominated and ran in every condition and put up great stats. The Haskell she put up the fasted Beyer speed figure of the year, yeah thats right faster than Zenyatta, and it was on a sloppy track.
italianbro1234 1 year ago
@pdbeck1 and it was against males in that race. so don't talk shit about the second best filly just under Ruffian.
italianbro1234 1 year ago
@pdbeck1

One of the best calls I have ever heard from 1972 to today.
whatitis117 1 year ago
Riva Ridge won the 1972 Hollywood Derby. But, in doing so, the horse was 'ruined' because he was pushed too hard, and never was the same again. I hate to say it, but I think that's what happened here. An amazing horse giving every ounce of heart and power, and pretty much leaving it there. To me, she will always be Alexandra The Great. What an awesome year 2009 was to be a horse racing fan!

You can just tell the person calling the race is a Rachel fan...
ApatheticLeader 1 year ago
@ApatheticLeader - As apposed to Trevor Denman?.......His Breeders cup classic call was SO Biased.
Nucleo85Torino 1 year ago
I hope she has a filly that looks just like her, and runs just as fast...or faster. When RA was a 2 yr. old, she broke a track record for fastest time. She'd been racing for 3 yrs. and with her last workouts seemed as if she still had it, but I'm not an expert.
What if she hadn't been eased towards the end her 2009 races like Haskell, Mother Goose, and Kentucy Oaks? She'd hold more records than she already does...and those span across generations.
love4horses1 1 year ago
Some observers have been very critical of Rachel Alexandra's performances in 2010, but no one will ever take away what she accomplished, & this race features her at her very best. Which was nothing short of great.
singbecause 1 year ago 2
they came after her with two early speed horses yet she dug in and put everything she had into this race... unfortunately, this performance may have cost her her career - never the same after this performance.

Icyhotboo 1 year ago 2
I think Tom Durkin's call really made this win seem bigger than it was. At the same time, I love seeing a tested horse respond with gas in the tank in deep stretch. Awesome win. Enjoy retirement. I want to see a Curlin foal.
ridings82 1 year ago
And for all the Moss haters out there. When Zen comes roaring down the stretch of the Classic again, remember how exciting of a moment that is (whether she wins or not) and then you will realize the Mosses did the right thing by racing.
bunkhouse 1 year ago
I would not call it "greed". I would call it stupidity. You cannot run females hard against the males several times and expect the filly/mare to hold/regain her form. Kudos to Zen's connections for not falling into this trap.
bunkhouse 1 year ago
@bunkhouse I don't see what else they could've done since they said early that they weren't taking her to the BC. She won the Haskell with ease. The Preakness from the 13th position gave her a little more of a challenge because she didn't like the track according to Borel. She could've raced fillies but she would beat them by huge margins.
Do you remember that many of the haters questioned the 3 year olds? So, she won against older males and was crowned HOY & Rachel Alexandra the Great.
love4horses1 1 year ago
@love4horses1 FORGOTTEN.....2009 flash in the pan.....never won at the championship distance of 10 furlongs....

duhru4real 1 year ago
@duhru4real Macho Again and Bullsbay had just come off recent G1 wins when she faced them. 2009 not good enough, how about when she was 2 yrs old and she broke a track record for speed.
??? Zenyatta has not won at the Classic Distance of 10 furlongs on dirt either.
Connections for L.A.T. stated that the strategy used is what cost RA 1st place in the PE, and her 2nd place. Still, RA finished a close second on a deep dirt field, and left LAT (won several 10 f) many lengths behind.
love4horses1 1 year ago

ISBAILEYDEADYET 1 year ago 2
@ISBAILEYDEADYET, I don't think so, Zen is a great horse but so is Rachel. Anyway, they will never meet, the Mosses will surely decide not to ship Z out of Cal again. She has the record, and being ultra conservative her whole career, they wont risk anything now by shipping to KY for BC.
Temple95 1 year ago
@Temple95

This race was the beginning of the end for Rachel Alexandra. Over 20+ cracks at her ass to hold off Macho Again? This exposed her struggle against open company. As for my prediction, Rachel by 5 1/2. She only lost by one length when she was going into that race a complete mess. I think she has sharpened up, Calvin will ride her his way ( Not to mention CD is Calvin's track) It seems to shape up to a pretty nice win IMO.

I won't even predict what the other horses do because it's all about Rachel.
mvlach77 1 year ago
@mvlach77 Well goodluck. You are not predicting, you are guessing. It's like when people predicted that Rach would win the NOL at 50% or Zenyatta has no chance in the Classic.

Use the Summer & Fall Solstice kerkoff. Use the Myan calendar. Use the tide charts. El Nino. The Chinese New Year. Barometic pressure. What's wrong with you ??
jermocide22 1 year ago
@jermocide22 What's wrong with you is the case. I told you that how I handicap horses.
duhru4real 1 year ago
OK, Duhu, You sound like JJ now. It's a toss up. If she wins, I told you so. If she loses, I told you so. Classic.
jermocide22 1 year ago
@jermocide22 No it wasn't a tossup. IF CJ WAS THERE SHE WOULD HAVE LOST, i have said this from the start. Now it is a toss up.

Duhru what do you use exactly to guage horse racing?
You say dont use times its worthless.
Dont use beyers their worthless.
The great horses have no compeition, so its hard to guage "who they beat"
What should we all use?

@kerkhoff1 Let me give you some tip:

Horses like Rach easily burns out cuz they can't relax.
duhru4real 1 year ago
@kerkhoff1 I never ever bet top level horses because they ship, tracks surfaces differs and these horses situations are hard to predict. You can't even watch most of their workouts. Yeah Rachel did a few bullets but who is to say she was a little bit ranked and not relax at all that is why she had a bullet or two workouts.

Ok, maybe I'll beat this dead issue one more time, then put it to bed. Why did you pick Rachel to win I'm this race ??
jermocide22 1 year ago
He interprets facts with a negative bias which skews his conclusions. That's why we have to interpret things in context.

Zen has won by 5+ what once or twice in her career?
kerkhoff1 1 year ago
@kerkhoff1 Don't show your ignorance this game. Those times were on different tracks and even if they were on the same track, track surface changes from month to month, year to year and even hour to hour. So don't use time as a gauge in horseracing. IT IS WORTHLESS!!
duhru4real 1 year ago
How about Zen's people saying they want to showcase her to different tracks so they can enjoy her? Pulleeeze! Just words. They don't want to fly over the Rockies.
mvlach77 1 year ago
Now who's ducking ?? Still doesn't answer why you're not picking Zardana again ??
jermocide22 1 year ago
@jermocide22 Give it up man. I said Rachel loses if CJ was there, now it's a toss up between the three.
duhru4real 1 year ago
Zardana would have destroyed the fillies last year by 20 lengths? I hate to shatter your bubble but neither Zardana nor Zenyatta would have beaten those fillies by 20 lenghts. Just not their style of running Zardana is Ms. Inconsitant, and Zenyatta just does what she needs to.
