  • In the UK if you have relatively straightforward tax affairs and already pay tax through PAYE (Pay As You Earn) you generally don't need to complete a tax return. But if you have more complicated tax affairs - or income from several sources - you may need to complete one.

  • I let my wife do taxes (she's doing them as I type this cause we owe). If I don't see what we owe, it's less painful!

  • oh man, I did them in Febuary! why wait! got some money too! weee hee! NYC here I come!

  • Well, step one of my tax prep is done. That's the part where I do my take on the forms. Then, in step two, our accountant reviews them and falls on the floor, howling, and fills them out the way they're supposed to be done. (She's cute when she laughs.)

  • FYI - H&R Block employs anyone. Take their two-week course and you can prepapre taxes too.

CPA with Masters in Taxation here.

  • Gas for 3.21/gal! It's 2.65 in here!

    Good thing I don't have to file!lol

  • Yes, there is a similar ritual in germany and you remindend me to celebrate it :o) I also prefer to pay a specialist than to do it on my own - support your local dealer ;-)

  • What did Mr. Boring have to say about the line of income from the Festival Brand Instant Smelly Shit people? I hope you don't have to explain that in an audit...(knocking on wood)

  • Well, that wasn't cash income - just a case of the shit - so we put that on a form 4237B. Mr. Boring knows how to take care of everything!

  • So, you have a case of Instant Smelly Shit and your brother's wedding is coming up...I think the stars are aligning for you, my friend!!

  • I like the way you think...

  • It's pretty much the same here :>

  • LOL: Mr Boring!!!

Don't they sell Diesel at the gas station???

Here in Holland unleaded costs 6.58 dollar/gallon at the moment :(

  • Yes, there's diesel at the next pump over.

6.58 dollar/gallon? In US dollars or euros? (I almost typed guilder - been a while since I've been to Holland.)

  • Diesel cars aren't very popular in the US are they?

Yes, US dollar/gallon, if I calculated correctly. It's 1.302 Euros/liter. Those good old guilders, sigh, I miss them so much...

  • And I can't believe you were vlogging on 17! That road is a death trap! 280 or 85 maybe I could understand, but 17?

  • Yes, 17, the haunted highway. I do all sorts of dangerous things on this road. I've vlogged the big moody curve and lived to tell about it.

  • MR BORING xD

  • I owe a bit. Just recentley sent it in. lol

  • in canada the deadline is april 30th and i've been nagging my husband to do the form for 2 weeks now. gas is $1.10.5 a litre here.

  • As a po' college student (can't even afford the full spelling of 'poor'), I qualify for a lot of exemptions. Too bad I can't also qualify for cheaper gas.

Annual Video Blogging Week snuck up so quickly. Seems like I just took down my Video Blogging Tree a few months ago!

  • I know what you mean. I'll probably still have this intro on my videos a month from now.

Even though we got a refund, this was the first year that we couldn't take a deduction for student loan interest. Man, those things go on long after graduation.

  • Well even though Micro & I did a H&R BLock video we really used TurboTax. It took me a couple of hours online but it is great! We should have done a commerical for them! lol Doesn't it feel good to get a little back though! Micro will get his new leathers! ya!

  • The basic version of TurboTax didn't include a couple of the odd forms that I needed. Like I said, my taxes are a bit too screwed up for how little I make. But it is good to get some back for a change.

  • lol...what a sad name.

  • hmmmm...a writer? LOLOL--the traffic accident and comment about some poor bastard trying to make a video blog...I've wondered with some of the driving videos I've seen, especially when they are on a cell phone and looking at a GPS screen.

  • If the accident had been serious, or with any fatalities, I wouldn't have made the joke. The bakery delivery truck took the ramp to fast and turned on its side - no serious injuries. You'll notice, most of my driving takes at least start at a stop light, not at freeway speeds.

  • I assumed no one was hurt. I know you wouldn't make fun of that. I just looked at my comment and there is a LOLOL after the question as to whether you were a writer...I just want to make sure you didn't think I was laughing at that. You speak very concisely and just sound like writer.

  • Congrats on the refund. We go see the tax man on the 10th. I am not going to hold my breath for a refund though :-(

  • lol mr boring, and "stupid women" good video i dont live in usa im british.

  • I didn't say "stupid women" - I just said this one woman was an idiot. Nothing against the gender, just this one twit. Glad you liked the vid!

  • hahaha mr.boring

  • Lol omg you have no idea how much I love you, look at that son of a bitch video blogging while driving lmao. And I am from Canada, and it is no different from you guys. Lol and I am also 15 years old therefore I obviously do not file taxes. I want to invest all my money in the stock market by the way. LOL

  • That's awesome! A tax agent called "Boring"! I wish I could use him he sounds great! PS: Our tax is same: file it every year. The only diff I can see is that our financial year runs from 1 July to 30 June every year, (in Australia!) We have to file by end October. PS costs me about $45 to fill my tank too, but I have a small car-40 litre tank.

  • Why would non-Americans need an explanation of what tax time is? Surely everyone in western society needs to prepare tax returns. At least Australians get from July 1st till October 31st to lodge our claims and hope for some money back. My question, is the financial year you are claiming Jan - Dec? Our financial year is July - June...

  • Sometimes we Americans just assume that everybody understands what we're talking about. I kind of figured there was a similar process in most every "western" country, but thought I'd check in on what the differences were. Yes, individuals file their taxes based on the calendar year, and April 15 is the deadline for the previous calendar year.

  • In the UK the majority of people don't have to fill out an annual tax return. Income is deducted at source through PAYE and your employer deals with the tax man and pays any rebates. If you are self employed or have income not deducted at source you will have to complete self assessment forms.

  • Similar to us, as we all get taxed through PAYE. However, filling out the tax return is our chance to claim for deductions and benefits to try and get ourselves a refund :)
