Oh dear... I've seen something like a documentary show on how instant coffee vending machines are rarely washed so there are lost on fungus growing in the tubes, and there was a case that dead ants were swimming around in the coffee cups. I wouldn't be surprised if the beer vending machine had some fungus growing in the tubes.

They are all over Tokyo, as are normal machines that sell beer in cans. Interestingly since posting this video 2 years ago, here in Japan they have put in place steps to prevent underage people buying beer from vending machines. The new machines have facial recognition software, the machines literally scan the face of the person to determine if they are an adult or not. But kids can still cheat the system by holding their hair back as if they have a receding hairline! :-)
