It's a shame every peak musician worth any value has died of strange circumstances.
Why is it the sellout shills never drown on an impossible amount of wine, get shot by "the government told me to do it" crazies, or shoot themselves with their wrong hand?
I wonder sometimes. I know Cobains death is completely murder, based on all the facts. They can skew that, what other deaths have they skewed? Hendrix with 4 bottles of wine inside him? It's all fishy.
An amazing moment, thank god the audio was captured of this performance and I have had a chance to hear it. Absolutely incredible. The technique it takes to sing like that is ridiculous. Jeff was a genius and can mimic anything he decided to. All my years of singing and about 1 day in 30 I can sing like Jeff Buckley. Hit his notes, reverberate his tones, and slide effortlessly through myriads of tricky notes. The other 29 I am just average again.
Desert Island Discs: Grace, by The Late Great Jeff Buckley, Five Leaves Left by The Late Great Nick Drake and Electric Ladyland by (you guessd it) The Late Great Jimi Hendrix. Man, I wish I saw them...
I've never heard an American man sing so beautifully in hindi and hit every note and have such wicked pronunciation!! I love Jeff Buckley, but today he has reached new heights to me, i'm blown away. I feel so inspired and unbelievably shocked right now. I am in love
@misszeppelin THATS NOT HINDI!!! its URDU!!! nusrat is from pakistani.... in the subcontinent he the man... most brilliant musician ever lived without question..
this is actually a really good attempt . Thumbs up man . Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan had like major like killer vocal capabilities , this was a really good attempt
ive only come across JB now and this is the 2nd time i have ever heard JB sing and it was beautiful. totally blown away. i dont think our current artists could pull something like this off. was amazed at his pronounciation of the urdo language - he can pronounce it better than me & ive been speaking it for years!
I cant even form words....my god....every time I think I've heard the best of Jeff Buckley and his brilliance (Dido's Lament, Corpus Christie Caroll, etc) something new comes along. I can barely listen to any other music other than his. Maybe one day it will settle down, but it sure doesnt feel like it right now.
Jeff Buckley was a real Musician, and that's the reason he recognized how Great the work of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was...
And even without knowing a single word of what he's singing, Buckley managed to replicate it, and even words are not pronounced correctly, but still the tone and scale is maintained.
We don't have both of these artists alive among us, but their work will always stay with us!
Discovered Jeff so sad he left a few moments before NFAK. He was unblievable at such a young age...the piece he wrote in Nusrat has more depth then the people who were born in that culture and still has no clue...we will miss you Jeff definitely.
Devastated is the word that could only capture my sadness to hear such a young and talented Jeff B. left us even before NFAK departed and they sang "AG Daman mai " at his passing ...Joy to discover...sad that he is not here any more with us...He could have continued NFAK work
not bad at all, he was very precise in imitating the sounds, he even hit many words correctly, . .. This is a perfect example of the transcending quality of music
Tell me some other white boy that can sing an f'n song by some crazy qawawa singer from Pakystan and so f'n well. None other could even come close to having the talent this man possessed asked anybody that knows music. This was a 23 yr old dude doing this shit 93' right.
Boss let me tell u first thing its qwali and second its PAKISTAN, name of proud nation and NUSRET is a greatest artist u still can found his music in HOLLYWOOD movies like NATURAL BORN KILLER background music and then peter sing with nusret, i like jeff buckley but still NUSRET is lagend he was AMAZING,,,,, go to wikipedia and search about him u will adore him........ thanks
This is one reason Jeff is on the top of the musical mountain, cause there seemed to be nothing that he couldn't do that was incredible! The man was an indescribable genius like no other.
mary said in an interview that jeff was a sufi himself. is that true? or rather, is there an interview where he addresses this? i don't know if i can trust anything mary says, honestly
I soooo love Jeff and as a musician can relate to the way he sincerely honors and wears his influences on his sleeve. He not only entertained and mystified me but opened my mind up to further musical possibilities. Namaste' Jeff.
Thank you so much for posting this again! This has already been removed twice but I couldn't help lookin it up and finding it again! You have no idea how crazy I am about Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Jeff Buckley! A legend paying tribute to another legend who is his Elvis! It is just Heavenly!
My Elvis Jeff singing song of his elvis Nusrat... Both legends died very early in 97...

early deaths of people like jeff buckley makes me wonder whether they left the glass half empty or half full.
the stages today could have been much different if they were still alive ,then again maybe they did as much as they were meant to.

I speak fluent Urdu and Buckleys version of 'Halka' is brilliant. So much so that my wife thought it was a Pakistani singer doing a cover.
This rendition brings a tear to the eye. Brilliant.
