I just watched this clip again and it dawned on me that seeing this cip (about a year ago?) is what first turned me on to this band!! In front of Macy's??...whatever...it's the music that counts.
The song sounds very nice, but that's sort of missing the point. I think the thing I am struggling with is how one of the five best bass players walking the face of the planet earth is playing in a mall in front of a Macy's.
The only conceivable 'video response' would be footage of Paul McCartney playing in the parking lot of an empty TGIFridays.
Western music dies 1000 deaths in 3 minutes 48 seconds.
Scratch that. Joey is one of the top three... no, top two bass players on the planet.
Bro - you are not 'marginally talented', you're pretty damned good - i am not 100% psyched on that visual of you in the mall either :) - the "1,000 deaths" is that the performance should have been appreciated by many people in a club. And i know a gig is a gig, i get that and am not trying to diss in any way. I've have played waaaay shittier.
I watched and studied Joey Spampinato for like 20 years, its tough to watch him play - just for the acoustics alone - in a mall. No disrespect intended
Too bad that soul-less cold shopping mall didn't appreciate this. This band has great feel. The intense echo adds to the real-ness of this classic! Great job.
Dang! That is so freakin' good!

One the best versions of this Loudermilk song. Do they still play in front of Macy's?

Is there an album by Link Montana & the Rough Riders? If not, there should be. If yes, where can I find it? Thanks for info.

Who are the other top bass players ?
It's kinda fucked that Joey has to play with an unknown marginally talented dude like myself but I will tell you this:
He brings his A game to every stupid gig we've played in the last four years. No one would be happier than me to see the
"Q" work it out and get back to work. The shows in Northampton last spring were great
Anyway, at least he's gettin' his mortgage paid.

Cool man.
The back story on the gig is that my girlfriend was working
there (Macy"s) and lined it up. People were horrified by us.
Many confused Brazillians ! The sound was dreadfull and I don't think they will ever have a band there again.
Truth be told I think I posted it for the absurdity factor.
I tell you straight up : Joey's the sweetest cat I've ever played with. We almost always have fun.
Speaking of bass players: Kevin Smith. Saw him here in Austin with "Heybale" Sunday night GREAT !!

Kudos on using the original lyrics, too.
