Thank you for this awesome video! Would love to see Boy George do a duets CD with Cyndi Lauper! Love them both! Finally got to see Cyndi twice last year, taping an eTown in Denver's fantastic Paramount Theatre, with other blues/reggae singers. She did a great interview for the radio show. And then she did a concert in Denver's old Ogden Theater in November! Fantastic! Bring them both back, Denver!
WHAT DO YOU MEAN... The world wasn't ready for him... Don't his record sales tell you anything. He did it for the money, and he got a butt load of it. I'm sure he also enjoyed creating and expressing but the bottom line is he did it for the dough. We loved his music in the 80's. How could he have been 'mis-understood' as much liberty he took with expression. He was great until the dope got to him... Like a lot of people that cannot handle wealth. Not discounting him... LOVED HIS MUSIC!

I love this song. I had never heard of it until last week, and now I keep watching this video, because of the song. It is so true and touching. I wonder why it did not become a top hit here in the United states. It's even better than all of his other songs that are also wonderful hits. Also the video had me glued to it.
yes if really listen to it it means a lot about the thimg you should did but did it any way to me i love this somg i even have it as my rington on my phone and i listen to when me and my hubsand get to it and just think what the song telling me
Is this an ad for Iams dogfood(poodle sizes and up)or a tv spot for the next Sesame street/Fraggle Rock/Muppet movie? I always loved this song, but i wonder how much this vid cost Virgin to make(The War Song clip cost over 100,000 quid to make)when CC's third album wasn't selling like Colour By Numbers. And George Honey, your taste has vastly improved since that album. You look great on Kinky Roland Sleeve
wow havent heard this one in a long time. like it was pulled from the archives of lost and forgotten hits. its nice to hear again takes me back to a lot of memories thanks
George called this video "a mistake" in his autobiography Take It Like A Man. I think he's wrong. His aesthetic and sound are at their height. The only video I like more is "Victims".
@TheEmbezzledclown It's truly sad. By the time this video was made, Culture Club was pretty much a done deal. They were just fulfilling contractual obligations. In fact this song was Boy George's response to his broken relationship with the drummer. This album were really their best work IMHO.
@1994ALove just a suggestion but could you not get it from i-tunes and then put it on a disc? i know it's not the same as getting the proper disc or have you tried e-bay? just a thought and i hope you get what you want in the end
mistake number three i could listen to it all day if i could, I know that i have watched this video over and over and still can't get enough of it . Thank you culture club for the song's over the year's.
i have to amen everybody...this is such a pretty, pretty song...it's haunting...i don't understand all of it, but that's not the point. the point is that the song touches me and makes me feel something and that's what excellent music should do...it should dwell in your subconscious and this song has lived with me for twenty-six years...yeah, i don't know why this song didn't get more airplay or mtv time either...it's really gorgeous and so is the video...lol...boy george has such a motown voice
@petercox9 Mistake No.3 means 3 things about straight guys like Jon Moss, what theyll end up doing to him : 1 meet a girl 2 fall in love 3 get married, its basically George saying that hes attracted to Straight guys, but ultimatley theyll end up with a woman, and hell end up broken hearted.
@danny6092 thanks for the insight. i'm a huge fan of boy george, but i have never understood that phenomenon of falling in love with someone who you know will not return your affections. i think that straight and gay are just artificial constructs. what is truly real is meeting someone and wanting to bask in them and know more about them. if two people connect on a person to person level, sexuality means nothing. i don't think anyone can be or should be converted to something they aren't.
@petercox9 there's an old saying: you can't fake the funk. you love who you love. no one forces you to love or be attracted to whomever you are attracted to in life. i'm also a huge fan of boy george and his darling in the ruff the lovely but very M.I.A. helen terry and i've always known the truth will always find it's way out.
@hotgritz4sho the truth may always find its way out, but will love always win? will love always overcome? at the root of it, love is wanting for someone what you want for yourself and to be selfless enough to give someone what you would like to have yourself. on the discovery channel, this gorgeous young, blond, athletic guy befriended this 650 pound outcast dude. when the hot blond guy was asked why he did it, he said: how can you not befriend someone who needs a friend. that's love.
too bad george could't control his drug addiction because this was a damn good band with great songs and one of the best back-up singers in the world (helen terry).
Such a good video and a much underrated song. Shame they were a bit out of fashion by this stage and we did not see the video more. I remember a clip being in the ITN news at the time when the Boy saved lots of bunnies from thefrom the chopper and used them in the video, where are they thought? I see 25 years ago this week the song was up one place to no.33 in the US charts.
If i saw jon i would probbly fall in love wth him too lol i bet george was like that he probbly couldn't help being so in love with someone who was gorgeous like jon lol
Great video for a great song. CC at their best and Boy george NEVER sounded better. Love this!! For some odd reason, this song has haunted me over the years.
My mom said she found out every song was about the drummer, and then told me about their conflicts.
She said 'No matter How much I listen to this, I cant seem to know what it means'.
But to me it made perfect sense. I think Boy George is talking about how much people change, how children are wonderful and innocent until they grow old and change out of their fun nature. Dont you think so? I feel that it is a shame to lose someone to old age. I have a friend and wouldnt like to see her grown up.
this was a hit in canada, reaching no.10, americans had by this point turned against george big time, waking up with the house on fire didnt even reach the top 20 there.hed tried to look as female as poss in 1984 to try and stop jon moss from whoring it about, shagging girls.but to no avail.he then totally got rid of the feminine look by 1985, which was a shame.he looks so pretty in this video.love the meddle song as well as this.
It was a moderate hit. People had started listening to Wham at this point. And most of this album was undercooked. They should have waited slightly longer, worked on it a bit more, funked it up a bit more. They needed more of an edge at this point in their career. Ah well.
@veclord .Actually this song did some radio play back in the day.Not enough if you ask me.I remember hearing it on Z-1OO here in New Jersey and immediately recognizing Boy George's voice.I told my friend,"this is a beautiful song".
This was a decent song...it should have been a bigger hit than it was. I don't think it even made the Top 40 in the U.S. Instead people were listening to junk like Huey Lewis and the News.
