Great performance! I do like the smaller orchestra arrangement however. My favorite is with Zubin Mehta and L.A. Phil. One of my teachers, Ralph Pyle played second horn and Henry Sigismonti played first horn. Zubin is also an excellent conductor for this type of music. He understands the style very well. Having studied in Vienna also helps.
@BerlinPhil The piece Berlin is talking about also was recorded for CD....so it seems. I also hope this version of the chamber symphony makes it to CD.
They're finally playing your music, Arnie, and loving it! I think this is a habinger of more of Shoenberg's works to come and to be greatly welcomed. (Hurray for 12-tone composition!)
The other interesting face is the Berlin Phil did record the version for 13 instruments back in the 80's with Sinopoli....now it looks like they recorded this version with Rattle. It would make them one of the few orchestra's to have recorded both versions.

I wonder, will berlin phil be playing "brahms 5" anytime soon? schoenberg did an excellent job arranging an already excellent piece of chamber music.

They just played it in November. There is a recording available in our Digital Concert Hall, and we will also upload an excerpt here on YouTube.

Great job!!! Amazing interpretation of a not easy piece.....

Hmm... Are my standards too low or were Schönberg's standards high? Because this sounds and looks way too large to be a /chamber/ symphony to me. :P

Well spotted! In fact, this is Schoenberg's own arrangement for large orchestra.
