i love how AFTER some one dies, they make it a law to have an AED in every gym. i feel terrible that that guy died! i would've FLIPPED OUT if i was there. haha.
my baseball coach which is Terrel Lowery he fed the pass to Bo Kimbole who fed the dunk to Hank after he died.. ya my coach Terrel Lowery was a pro baseball play for teh giants and others
Sad. I remember that day and seeing the video as it happened then was like reopening the wound. Not much of a warning he looked just fine then bam. RIP
I remember when he died. It was one of the saddest days of my life. As an LA resident, I had grown to love and appreciate Hank and Bo Kimble, and their amazing basketball team. They were best of friends and seemed to be enjoying the incredible ride they were on together. They appeared on a local news broadcast many times with another good man who died too young, Eddie Arnold. To see Eddie have to announce Hank's death that night was heartbreaking. They would have made some waves in the tourney
A young High School basketball star close to where I live died from a heart condition while playing some pick up basketball with friends several years back.
It is such a shame this happens to these bright and talented young men. Hopefully enough macho athletes will take the possibility of a cardiac arrest during high impact sports or Exercise seriously. Please young people be smart and don't overlook signs or family history of heart troubles.
Yawn... Heavy come back, yet very intelligent... Moron, get your facts straight...
He was found to have an abnormal heartbeat (exercise-induced ventricular tachycardia), and was prescribed a beta blocker. However, Gathers felt that the medication adversely affected his play, and he soon cut back on his dosage.[1]
@KJack1990 No he wasn't as he just stopped taking his medicine or the right dosage of it which is why his heart couldn't take the overload he had to do while playing.
I can't speak for him or whoever is told that they have to either be on medication or to stop doing something they love most but god always says that your health and that of your family and children should always be the most important and unfortunately he didn't see it that way.
I told my basketball coach I had increased sized heart muscles and he told me to get it checked out. I told him it probably wasn't a big deal, and then he told me about this guy. It saddens me that he died at such a young age. It makes me wonder...
i remember this happened right before the ncaa tournament that year. in round 2 layola mymt beat my wolverines who were the defending champis in round 2. at that point i was truly rooting for layola then they got beat by those nasty duke bluedevils
Actually, they lost to UNLV in the 4th round (Elite 8) in Oakland, CA. I was at the game when Hank died (still makes me cry thinking about it - he was really a nice guy), and each of their 4 subsequent NCAA tournament games. They beat New Mexico State, Michigan (149-115!!! best game ever) and Alabama before losing to UNLV. Bo Kimble, Jeff Fryer, Terrell Lowery, Per Stumer, Chris Scott -- what a great team and fun to watch, would have gone further with Hank.

If you are doing physical sports you should always get a medical check up and unlike Hank, listen to the doctors...

he had medical clearance to play with the medication they were giving him. He stopped taking it because it affected his play.

Yeah it was his own fault he should have kept taking the medicine or stop playing.

Yes, and Stuckey should really contemplate further playing, it is not always OK to go full speed just because the doctor says so.

in the full video you see him throw down the alley oop first. it aired all over the place when he died but it's really hard to find these days.

I was also under the assumption there was no video of him collapsing. He looked fine then all of the sudden just collapses. Just crazy.
