Hell, a Burmese Python, which in captivity grows from 12 to 20ft, only needs a 12ft long by 4ft wide cage. Too large, and the garter snake will feel far too exposed. Learn your facts before you ramble.
Also, no snake in modern times gets to 140ft. So YOU sir are the one who needs an education, or needs to do some research.

A lot of fish contain thiaminase, which breaks down vitamin B1 in snakes and can lead to convulsions and lack of motor control, then death if un treated. If this happens, supplement by forcefeeding with something like cod liver oil and make sure the fish you are feeding do not contain thiaminase

Convicts are a good feeder to use because they multiply very quickly and don't contain thiaminase but they do have sharp dorsal spines but if its eaten head first it shouldn't be too much of a problem. I dont think people realize that snakes are very sensitive about food and will starve themselves to death, so you can't just throw crickets in and tell the snake to deal with it.
There is apparently a way to feed them raw meat from your hand, but it takes a lot of training and really why even do that
I wasn't aware garter snakes are capable of this... then again this could only occur when the waters above 70F... like a nice summer day. Dipping when the lake waters around 60 here and their slowing metabolism will cause them to drown.

I wasn't aware garter snakes are capable of this... then again this could only occur when the waters above 70F... like a nice summer day. Dipping when the lake waters around 60 here and their slowing metabolism will cause them to drown.
