  • @UnityPeace311 no. 311 did not do this or who's got the herb originally.

  • everytime i hear this song i need to blaze up

  • @0420Marijuana yeah songs like this make it disappear :|

  • @0420Marijuana Yeah you do, with a YT Handle like 0420Marijuana, how could you not blaze to this. It's so necessary my friend. It's so necessary.

  • @0420Marijuana fuck yaeh man &)

  • i was born in babylon and i really have to leave

  • The bass is so tight, the guitars are so restrained and jazzy. I love the dragging snare on the drum. Nobody else touches the original for sheer music: rhythm, tone. The vocals fit the music perfectly. Don't get much better than this. I wish I had Ryu Ken fireballs in my fingers.

  • please god let me get this job and support my wife and baby on the way so i can feel like a man again, and so i can start burnin that sweet ganja again. thank you.

  • @ArtLove0 did you get it?

  • Looks like 6 people got stuck in babylon

  • who is the original atist that wrote this song?

  • @turdel Bad Brains wrote these lyrics, but the riddim is from Barrington Levy's song Love Sister Carol. That song was also dubbed by scientist and called Below the Belt.

  • @swingincharacter : Yeah bro...datzz true :D

  • @turdel These guys(points at Bad Brains)

  • love this tune, bad brains are my favorite band, wish i could start a band like this!

    jah bless!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FYI this isn't a Bad Brains original. It's actually a well known "riddim" (rhythm track in jamaican slang) from a late 60s tune entitled The Royals - Pick Up the Pieces. The lyrics are HR's, of course, and it's in a different key, but there's really no doubt that they used Pick Up the Pieces. Both versions are top notch, though.

  • @tame1999 Thanks for the info!

  • wow... 311's cover of this totally blows the original away. Hexum's vocals are much better than this. I do have to give them props though for writing this awesome song with a badass bassline. If only the vocals weren't so grating.

  • @atliens81

Uh, Bad Brains is a punk band. Maybe that is the 'grating' you referred to in his voice. Get a clue

  • @atliens81

311 is not key. Neither are you

  • The percussion is just so tight! Feeling was lost along the music history....

  • my dad made the picture of the guy holding the fire in his hand with the crown for bad brains! its cool to see that on youtube.

  • @KushKid44

    did he really?

  • @ChristSalas yeeea

  • yeah i like listening to all the slow songs together with a blunt and then once the beer kicks in all the fast stuff. not that theres anything wrong with how it was released. awsome how Bad Brains came together at the right place, time, state of mind and what else am i forgetting?

  • this song also sounds good with bradley james nowells voice.

  • 311 does an awesome version of this on their Soundsystem album. In my honest opinion they definitely do justice to the original version.

  • puts me in the zone

  • we should really start shipping can goods to babylon lol

  • 5 people are in babylon

  • @eastbaybochat plus da hole lot

  • @eastbaybochat How the hell?.... nvm people are retarded, how did this song attract so many idiots?

  • @XxFourTwentyxX what you mean the people who disliked it?

  • RevoLuCion de ideaz........

  • @beachbum662 ummm real rastas don't call themselves "rastafarian" the suffix "ian" classifies them therefore its derrogatory

  • @rastapasta420lyfe you mean the suffix ism? since it is also applied to communISM and racISM? yeah im aware

  • @rastapasta420lyfe 'In the sky there are no distinctions between east and west. People create distinctions in their own minds then believe them to be true.'

  • Leaving babylon for Zion. Peace :)

  • Wha gwann stop ta Fusin ana Fightin, masses. ERE MI NOW DEM A SINGING PRAISES PON JAH NAME SEEN. SO Y A WANNA MASH IT UP WIT SUM FUCERY.

  • I love how everyone on reggae videos end up fighting...that makes you look like total jackasses

  • @Sublimenate94 i agree. its reggae, a musical genre that shows the corruption in society and spreading the one love. if you wanna fight go listen to stuff that promotes violence, like rap or death metal, everyone.

  • @beachbum662

hip hop, reggae, rock can all be the same thing at times.

  • @K1dDread dont get me wrong i love death metal and rock and all that too. and theyre not always about violence. but name 1 true reggae song thats talking about violence not being a bad thing or being the central theme as if the singer were violent. the other genres speak of violence as a theme for the wrong reasons, and reggae speaks of how corrupt it is. ill admit i enjoy a shitload of metal and rock and VERY LITTLE rap, but nonetheless when it comes to good themes its all about reggae overall

  • @beachbum662

I don't believe i can give you a sample of reggae speaking of violence in a suggestive way. I was implying that there was positive rock and hip hop music that works the same way that reggae does in provoking practicality, logic, and humility, and that a genre should not be grouped together. ex: not all hip hop is shoot em up and get bitches/money/cars, and not all rock is praise satan and blood and guts and fuck societal ideals. That is all. Reggae is my main preference although.

  • @K1dDread i agree, rock and hip hop can have such themes as well, no doubt there. but nonetheless, reggae is the only one that never touches the darker side (satan, shoot em up etc.) in the end all genres of music have a lot to offer in the sense of enjoyment

  • @beachbum662

    agreed. :D

reggae is a like culture in my life, and it allows no negativity. and i'm always happy to see like minded people.

    ~one~

  • @K1dDread same here. after quite a while of looking into it i actually became rastafarian, and it all started with my love of reggae

  • @beachbum662 What about "Murderers" by Barington Levi

  • @rocknrollhoochiekoo1 listen to the lyrics. its talking about wathcing out or youll be murdered by society and such. reggae often exploits the corruption in society. so its not promoting murder. therefore, i stand by my point

  • @K1dDread stepping razor. im like a stepping razor you better watch my sides im dangerous. burning and looting. there aren't many other examples I can think of. i have never seen a reggae song that advocates violence or promotes it in any way

  • @Sublimenate94 agreed

  • babylon can be used for lots of stuff.. can be referred to the actual civilization. but nowadays its mostly referred to as the western world. as ntheAttic said. the actual corrupted part of the world

  • babylon is a rasta thing. the jews were captured and taken from israel to babylon (modern iraq) to live in exile. black rastas envision the americas as their babylon. leaving this babylon means they want to leave their state of exile and return to their homeland more or less. but yeah babylon can represent anything you want it to.

  • the nwo is trying to establish a 2nd babylon, rastas always sing of the evil of babylon.

  • theyre talking about how their fellow niggers are corrupting society.

  • @IISANIIDIEGOIISURFII no their talking about the third movement"revenge on whites for their wickedness"

  • @TheNexthendrix13 for being wickedly superior?

  • @IISANIIDIEGOIISURFII no for being wickedly ignorant

  • @TheNexthendrix13 Fucking everybody says whites are ignorant, but dont explain themselves? Why are we ignorant? Or are you just going to say what everybody else says without the knowledge of what they are talking about?

  • @IISANIIDIEGOIISURFII i'm not saying that all white people are assholes, just you

  • @TheNexthendrix13 Okay. You just know I'm saying things that are true.

  • @IISANIIDIEGOIISURFII yes,and you're a true asshole

  • @TheNexthendrix13 you fail to explain why. youre a dumbass.

  • @IISANIIDIEGOIISURFII look, you can't fight me, white people can't fight for nothing,so just drop it okay white devil

  • @TheNexthendrix13 yeah thats why we've taken a plethera of civilizations over the centuries. Yeah that proves we cant fight.

  • @TheNexthendrix13 that gay frenchmen who was one of the greatest military leaders and who also conquered vast amounts of land? and what do you mean by killing true americans? They only reason I'm racist is that the USA is going under if it is ruled by non-whites. Take Obama, for example. He literally has done nothing and lied to the american public.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheNexthendrix13 I didn't say bush was a great president but he did a hell of a lot more that fucking obama. God damn youre one of those democrats that voted for obama because he made fucking tshirts that looked cool. And hope? change? he never told us what he was talking about and hasn't done shit in his presidency. Thats why you don't elect a nigger as president, it was a failure to begin with.

  • @IISANIIDIEGOIISURFII i'm not old enough to vote, and stop saying nigger, one day someone's gonna show people like you

  • @TheNexthendrix13 yeah okay. if anything the USA's government is getting more racist with the rise of the tea party. are you even black?

  • @IISANIIDIEGOIISURFII i am black, but must you be like everyone else?

  • @TheNexthendrix13 yes. this country will become corrupt if further racial diversity continues.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheNexthendrix13 most whites are not red neck. but rednecks can run a country a hell of a lot better than fucking niggers (ex. the Confederate States of America). You want proof of that too? a bunch of ex-american slaves made a country in west africa called Liberia. it was supposed to be a little america with nice buildings and a stable, democratic government. You know what happened? the nigs there couldn't keep it together and they've had several civil wars. nothing you say can denote racism.

  • @IISANIIDIEGOIISURFII look obama is president whether you like it or not,if you keep talking like this you're considered a terrorist ,so just drop it and get a life

  • @TheNexthendrix13 you just can't admit that he's a failure

  • @IISANIIDIEGOIISURFII you're right i can't admit, because he did'nt fail us white devil

  • @TheNexthendrix13 what has he done fucktard? oh and thanks for calling me white, it's such a compliment because I'm above you.

  • @IISANIIDIEGOIISURFII we'll see if you're above me when i break my foot off in your ass

  • @TheNexthendrix13 ohp. there it goes. the negro isn't intelligent enough to come back with anything and just resorts to threats and senseless insults, which also hints at his over-agressive nature.

  • @IISANIIDIEGOIISURFII i'm just as smart as you,get a life you peckerwood,i mean it does'nt hurt me because i know you and your mom does stunts for little richard in gay movies, and we fight i'd win, the white devil never wins

  • @TheNexthendrix13 that was the worst comeback ever. youre so retarded, look at history. the white man always wins.

  • @IISANIIDIEGOIISURFII look you can be a low life as long as you want, but i have a gig next week, and i need to practice, let me know how the gay movie is working out for you. I also need to go put water in your mother's doggy dish

  • @TheNexthendrix13 your jokes are senseless and futile. and theres no way you can get into the music biz these days. you have to rap and have no talent.

  • @IISANIIDIEGOIISURFII i don't rap. And i predicted, that by the time i'm 17,my band and i,will bethe greatest. what have you done with you pathetic racist life?!?

  • @TheNexthendrix13 great good luck with that.

  • that bass line is similar to love sister carol.

  • i love rippin' a massive bowl of some good ass dank to this song and then inhaling deeply while feeling the amazing bass line in this song vibrating through my body.

  • Babylon: A place devoted to materialism and the pursuit of sensual pleasure. Materialism: The belief that physical matter is the only reality. Spirituality: Not theology(the study of God), nor ideology(the ideas of man); but it is simply a way of life, pure and original as it was given by the Most High of Creation.

  • more fire for babylon!

  • This is so fucking good to jam to.

  • reggae guitar is simple because it is backing. No wailing bonuses here, just melodic, bonged out bass lines.

  • even though this is a simple song, but this is officially one of the sickest songs in my book

  • Ohhh man, I'm diggin' it.

  • god bless h.r. and bad brains, jah, rasafari !! listen to human rights!!

  • ya man light up a fat blunt and smoke. To the people that think weed is bad you guys are fuckin stupid. If you got a serious injury and the doctor said "Heres some medical marijuana" You guys would be like "oh no thats bad." Thats what you guys basically saying think about it. NO deaths on weed but youll smoke cigarettes. That has way more death reports.

  • @ms420man weed dosent cure an injury it just reduces the pain cause your fucking high. and nobody is going around saying cigarettes are better than weed for you. you must have been fucking shacked when you wrote that cause it makes no sense. and why does weed have to be brought up in this thread of comments? its to talk about the music or video not to promote stoner pride.

  • @dcb888 PROMOTE STONER PRIDE WHOHOOOOO!!

  • @perrytheshit stoners have no pride.

  • @Chenzy09 na i was making a joke of what someone said. but whatever man why do you give a fuck. your thoughts, emotions, and ideas are completely irrelevant on youtube and no one gives a fuck of what you, yourself, THINKS
