  • Damn this shit is freaky

  • Movie starts at 1:10.

  • 5:58 sample from boomerang. how they discovered this sample is pure genius!!

  • I hope aliens are not like this ,and a little nicer haha

  • i remember how i got to this video

    1). get stoned

    2). put on Quasimoto

    3). Come On Feet

4). "WHERE DID HE GET THIS SAMPLE FROM!?!"

    5). search.... Le Planete Sauvage.

6). trip balls then use it to show "artsy girls" that im "artsy" too then talk about the social commentary implied....not really.

  • @flippenpinoi yo man thats exactly how i found out about that shit too yo trippy music but its freakin ill man

  • who ever made this movie was on acid

  • oh man this movie is so fucked up... hahah.. i remember getting wicked stoned and watching this with my buddies when i was 17... how we even came across this movie i have no idea!!!

  • uh uh. bad trip!!!

  • I'm high as fuck lolol

  • I bet this syncs up with Dark Side of the Moon better than with The Wizard Of Oz.

  • I love the music..

  • im wayway too high

  • boring as hell....just not my type....i like other trippier shitttttttt but i appreciate this

  • Thumbs up if you are here because of Shpongle

  • Rawcotiks - Magic Chef!!

  • I heard from somewhere that this movie was inspired by the soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia in the 1960's....its hard to see the connection here.

  • fucking sucks

  • GANTZ!

  • @henrytanful you fucking a right this reminds me of a manga chapter from GANTZ where giant aliens invades earth!....I wonder if the Japanese author watched this movie!

  • @skeaneable dont worry, all japanese like this type of movie, we are not high though;)

  • Who's with me to go to that planet and knock some blue alien heads together?

  • what else to say than wow only a few people can appreciate this movie + the amazing music remember the time this was done... Rene Laloux is a genius

  • This is one of the most creepy animated films ever made.

Its very creative though, I like Rene Laloux's animation and

Ronald Topor's influence in the design, but this film is still creepy.

The strange thing though is it's not like the film is composed of

solely creepy imagery. It has a plot and characters and good music

    but....I dont know.

  • Teeva's voice is utterly terrifying.

  • this is at least as awesome as it is fucked up.

    wow ..

  • This supposed to be like some reptilian takeover sort of movie or something?

  • Thumbs up if you saw a clip from this movie in "The Cell"

  • @woolent1994 YEP!!

  • I would like to violently kill an ome

  • Strange sense

  • This music was way too fucking ahead of it's time.

  • This shit is fucked up.......

  • Stupid Taarg arseholes! You like to fuck with humans, eh?

The Zentraedi would OWN your arses!

  • @ChavHardMan LOL I was thinking about the Zentraedi too. XD

  • As long as they're all french,I'm ok...

  • This is disturbing and depressing.

  • @thehoosierfortheUK Unfortunately most of the enlightening things are.

  • The style of drawing rings a bell deep in my heart, it reminds me to a children's book i had in former times, also with a fantastic story. I'm still often talking about this fantastic book with my brother and sister, because they also love it but don't remember it's name.

    the music is just fantastic!

    Hats up!

  • Two minutes in and I get the impression that Terry Gilliam's a mean bastard.

  • i watched the trailer first and was kinda freaked out but now i find it strangely captivating...(i wanted to say heartwarming but the humans as animal pets is a little uneasing ^^;)

  • Boomerang!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheRappin98 HAHA no shit, i get it now BOOMERANG! Big pun! Freshness!

  • This movie would not be half as weird without the music.

  • @dharmaseed Yeah, like that imagery isn't plenty bizzar on it's own !

  • This film is definatly NOT for kids.

  • I have remembered seeing this on USA network's Night Flight.

  • @faceman68 i saw it too, about 1986 or so, recorded the second half on VHS (for those of u that dont know what that is, look it up on wikipedia :p) but never saw the first part. dont have enough pot to get through more than the first 8 minutes :/ what a wierd flick!!

  • Wow.

  • This is right up there with the yellow submarine and the blue meanies.

  • same year as Tales From Topographic Oceans. lol.

  • This movie actually sounds way better in its original version which is the french one

  • Who ever created this was really tripping balls lol weirdest film ever

  • this is what yellow submarine would look like if it went from a good acid trip to a bad one...

  • cant count the number of times that i've watched this. its surreal!

  • Mind Altering Demented Lessons In Beats

  • I own it. Damn straight!

  • I remember seeing this movie several years ago on the internet.. I think I encountered it on a blog, before youtube existed. It was pure serendipity- it's likely I never would have even heard of it, like most people I suspect.

There's an entire world of fascinating obscure animation out there that seems likely to simply fade into the past. It would be cool if there were a TV channel that aired stuff like that, but it's possible that its only sure refuge is on the internet.

  • @Gesmehod Saw it on TV earlier today actually.

  • @Gesmehod Yeah, I saw it on tv, that's how I found out about it.

  • I've only been watching this for 2 minutes and I can already tell that this will give me nightmares lol

  • @rahim4969 hard to understand your incorrect grammar, but i get what you're saying

  • I need to b high to watch this creepy shit!

  • love it Rene Laloux rules

  • One of my very favorite films. I love Fantastic Planet!

  • I would have been like Teeva. I was always rescuing things from mean kids when I was a child.

  • This movie so creeped me out as a kid when I first saw it....

  • Amazing film. Really incredible.

  • Definitely one of the best, and creepiest, beginnings in a film for me. The music and art in the film go together so well. I had memories of seeing this movie as a kid even though I long forgot the name. It's the kind of movie that can crawl into your subconscious and follow you into your dreams.

  • this is some creepy shite

  • This movie really MAGNETIC! Filled with overflowing imagination!

  • this is a good experiment.

    thanx for the uploading

im hunting this film long long time,

    10/10

  • BOOBIES

  • @kohrak123 even creepy blue alien boobies are still...BOOBIES :P

  • I recall seeing this in the 70's when it was sometimes shown prior to the Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii

  • OMG, no need to be on drugs to watch that. I was watchin it as a kid and i've grown up pretty good.... i think...oO

Reminds me a lot of Alex's Grey paintings tho, ... and that guy is on drugs for sur. XD

Whatever, he my fav painter ever, and i tottaly love that movie <3

  • NICE

  • I bet some wanker in some Hollywood studio's working on an Americanised remake/live version like they'yre doing with another classic, AKIRA.

LEAVE THINGS LIKE THIS ALONE FOR FUCKS SAKE!!

  • @VANHELSING433

    Avatar is already live-action FP

  • I don't do drugs at all and I found this very interesting. I can't wait to see the other parts when I have time.

  • I don't do drugs at all and I found this very interesting. Can't till I have time to watch the others parts.

  • @LuvGiantsTorture u dont have to do drugs to make it seem anything. The drugs just fk up ur mind enough to the point where ur like HOLY SHT WOWZORS instead of "man this guy is creative"

  • aaaarh get it out of my head! What is this!?

  • aw this is messed up.

  • this is great, thanks for sharing!

  • I'm high so this is 3millions times more interesting than facebook status updates

  • music was sampled in boomerang-big pun

  • Thanks for the upload !

  • Cue the arrival of the Imperium of Man..

  • this is why we have nukes

  • check my page for a product i made inspired by the fantastic planet.. aka le planete sauvage.

    /watch?v=0je3kg9x7H4

  • BIG PUN

  • Hal Smith is a voice here and he's one of my favorite voice actors. he was the voice of Owl in the Winnie The Pooh cartoons/TV shows, Lord Yupa in the original 1985 US version of Nausicaa called Warriors of the Wind, Gyro/Glumgold on Ducktales, CoilMan on Impossibles and many more.

  • the blue ppl scared the living shit out of me as a kid D:

  • @TheTrueMetal9

They are creepy and fish-like but do you think this movie is similar to Avatar? i mean this is one of Cameron's favorite animated movies and used it as one of the inspirations to his new movie.

  • @Johnlindsey289 besides the blue people, i dont realy see much correlation between avatar and fantastic planet. avatar: natives fight for their homes, their planet FP: feeble race triumphs to escape annialation and slavery (in this case being a mistreated pet).

dont get me wrong, i actualy very much enjoyed watching this extremely creative and alien movie (now that im older :P). its almost somthing no one on this planet would ever have thought of

  • @TheTrueMetal9

Cameron did also borrowed from Lightyears (aka Gandahar), Heavy Metal, Lawrence of Arabia, Last of the Mohicans, Star Wars, Dune, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (aka Warriors of the WInd), Willow, Princess Mononoke, Ferngully, Wizards, Starchaser Legend of Orin, The Dark Crystal, Broken Arrow (1950 James Stewart movie), Castle in The Sky (aka Laputa), My Neighbor Totoro, Dances with Wolves and Star Trek. These aliens influenced the Na'Vi.

  • @Johnlindsey289 ahh...i read you

  • Is this where Tool got most of thier music vid ideas from?

Just realised That Failure based there album Fantastic planet on this movie.

listen to the notes at 5:26. The are exact same as the notes at the start of "Another space song."

  • @stratocaster1986able Gaah, thanks for introducing me to Failure. I really like their music.

  • @bubbamittens Did you see what I meant about 'Another space song"?

  • @stratocaster1986able Yup! It's probably my favorite song on that album.

  • @bubbamittens Its my favourite song-ever.

  • Is this where Tool got most of thier music vid ideas from?

  • Holy shit this is Monty Python on acid!

  • cool its the same movie like yellow submarine...i like it...anybody know other films like this? i like to look those films stoned XD thx fo upload

  • @KNIEBEL0815 You might wanna check the list on my channel. Most of it isn't just psychedelic movies, but I guess you'll be able to figure it out for yourself. Nothing beats Fantastic Planet for me, though.

  • @KNIEBEL0815

try the movie walking life. its a different type of animation but hella trippy when stoned.

  • fuck this is weird.

  • Probably one of the single worst movies ever made. "Space Hogs" (w/Dennis Hopper) is actually better than this aesthetic disaster. The single most positive comment that could possibly be made about this film is: "nice try".....

  • @WhiteScavenger

What are you talking about, this is an excellent animated movie filled with bizarre and unique sounds and characters as well as unique animation and it isn't mindless crap for kids and teenagers, it actually has intelligence and style and a great deal of imagination. You probably dont like it because it's goes over your head or you dont like originality

  • @WhiteScavenger

why do you keep ignoring me, you know that your just angry that you couldnt come up with a movie this original or awesome you little prick

  • I want to read the book this is based on Oms by the dozen

  • Anyone else notice the plot of this is . . . identical the "Battlefield Earth"? Watch from beginning to end, they're practically the same movie! Except one is older, animated (kind-sorta!), and generally spoken of more highly!

  • No drugs! Meditation! Need to know how to do it. Takes some practice. Doesn't give the quick and dirty results of, say, acid, mescaline, or salvia. But chem free, no health risks that I'm aware, and never illegal!

  • wtf was that about

  • I'm still looking for an original French copy of this soundtrack on vinyl.

  • this movie was meant to be seen on acid

  • AND HERE COMES A GIANT FIST!!!

  • Come On Feet!!!

  • @TheRappin98 trouble aint no place to be

  • Can no one see something strange and interesting, without assuming it was made by drugs?

  • For those that fail to understand, The video is basically referring to how we treat not only animals, but our species.

  • LOL..Go tell the cops next time you think getting high... "For some it represents a different way of looking at the world. " it represents feeling different or relieving pain, but the world isn't changing because you've consumed mass amounts of drugs. I know..I consumed more than my fair share in the past.

  • This movie changed my life when I was a kid. I was paranoid of fucking everything!

  • @LaromZenshin haha that is pretty funny man. I imagine you as a kid wide eyed and scared of eveything.

  • Comment removed

  • the 70's was weird

  • LSD 2C-I MDMA THC awww sheeeeeit

  • just downloaded the music . if you want it too google search . fantastic planet blogspot

  • the music is excellent

  • Why the fuck am i scared out of my mind right now :)

  • Wheres the rest? This user has one of the best quality uploads!

  • What;s wrong with you morons? This has NOTHING to do with being trashed and high. It's about NOT killing each other off..preservation of the species. Oh what a fucking concept, huh? How trippy.. huh? Twits.

  • @DrFeelRotten For some, the drug experience can be more than simply being "trashed and high." For some it represents a different way of looking at the world. Just because something may be inspired by mind altering substances does not render it void of any other meaning. Fantastic Planet may fit this category or it may simply be the product of a creative mind. Either way the message at its core rings true.

  • @NjHc718 Excellent point. I'm against the usage of drugs myself but I know for some it's a sort of device they use to tap into the parts of their mind they don't usually have access to. I can't believe anyone would say the artistic or intrinsic value of something is nullified by the inspiration of drug use. I listen to music when I get writer's block and it gets me going when I've got nothing left. The end product is the end product regardless of the means used to achieve it.

  • @NjHc718 not enough thumbs up

  • @NjHc718 People who take drugs like to think that. But their best creative work awaits them when sober.

  • @fjccommish People who don't take drugs like to think that^ But their best creative work awaits them when perfectly focused. No matter Sober or not. Learn to broaden your horizons. Don't be so anti- about this. Psychedelics and other substances can benefit man kind. If you can't accept that, then by default, you're ignorant.

  • Amazing the generations before yours did indeed think unlike most of yours who can't even spell much less think, but don't worry. The drogs are taking the world over. The filthy, stinking rotten rich are the new drogs..selfish fucks who will let you die for a buck so they can have comfort and their toys while we die off of disease and starvation.

  • Just goes to show you, no matter how weird you think your ideas are there's always weirder

  • What is dis shit? Fuck this, Shrek and the other movies rip this. More action, funnier, better stories. This got too long stupid clips. Falling ASLEEEEP!

  • This movie abides!-The Dude.

  • Two questions. #1. What's Nightmare Fuel? because i've seen it posted lots. and #2. Are their more movies or animations like this?

  • @VibankSkate

Well yeah, you could check out the animations of Terry Gilliam, that is very similar to this, and also I would suggest Angel's Egg, or Gandahar, which was also made by the same guy and is also very surreal

  • nightmare fuel

  • This movie is so relaxing to watch. I love it.

  • Now I see where Gantz got their idea from....

  • I watched this 27 times back in 1988....this translation departs from the original but is still good.

What we got nowadays is crapola- remake madness. Thank God for the Fantastic Planet, pray to her!

  • 7:50 "the great gig in the sky"

  • Asian sugar babies # lushfmlk.info#

  • ...so, this is how avatar started out

  • @RidleyEater

Of course James Cameron is a huge fan of this masterpiece of Sci-fi and animation, this is one of the inspirations to his new movie.

  • I wanna watch this while tripping now.

    Thank you Stumble Upon!

  • woww, creepy but kinda mind blowing. thats what most of us treat our pets like... but maybe in not such a creepy world.. :)

  • Wow. I don't know what this is but I love it.

  • This is so fucking creepy.

  • This is one of my all time favorite animated films of all time. I'm a huge science fiction fan and I also like bizarre and unique art, and this film is both of those things and so much more!

  • Gee, who needs drugs if you can watch movies like these? 8-)

  • @schnulli79 I think you just need to think and open your mind. Drugs do that, drugs can open your mind instantly, specially psychodelic drugs. Thinking is a slower process, but the reward is the same. You can trip while thinking too. Drugs are just a bridge to thinking, but they are not necessary, neither bad.

  • @kramer98

I strongly disagree, I don't think you need drugs for anything, mind expansion or not, you can fully appreciate movies like this without the aid of any drugs, like I always do, drugs are dangerous and mess you up.

  • @gatheringleaves I didn't say you need drugs. Read again

  • Did the girl say her name was Teka?

  • @accebere It's Tiva.

  • They should convert this to 3D, it would be better that Avatar.

  • we can't let the poor animal die :D (min 4:00)

  • This is a good movie, but I disagree that it is our evolution, I believe in God as creator, but don't spam me, cause you can't change my mind. But, great movie, awesome soundtrack, and shows sturggle
