U can have both, the reason you can't open a chest is because inside there is an item that does not belong to the original game. By re installing all your mods the game will be able to recognize The item from a mod and you will be able to open ur chest

It's really easy to just keep two bin folders and switch between them to get either aether or mo creeps mod.

If you really have to choose between one, don't restart, keep mo creeps. everyone is doing aether now, and you'll be one of the only people doing creeps and weirdos!

@fortyo40 Well I have all three working well! I installed them in this order: More Creeps and Weirdos, Premium Wood, and Mo' Creatures. I don't know if it makes a different what order you get them in, but yeah. Always remember to backup your stuff, just saying ;)

If you back up your .minecraft folder (as in copy and pasting it into another folder) you can start minecraft and have a fresh .minecraft folder and put the aether mod on there. This would allow you to switch between the series easily by replacing the folders.

Learn to use Worldedit and u can can copy entire chunks and paste them to another map. its included with singleplayer commands.
