They all completely missed the second plane smashing into tower two! Unconfirmed reports that a second plane has hit the second tower. They have it live on their broadcast! Obviously they can't see the footage being shown to the public, but it must have made it that much more horrible for people watching it as it happened. When the second one hit, that was the first indication that it was no mere coincidence. Then there were rumored reports coming out of the Pentagon that two planes had been hijacked. When your working as an anchor in TV you don't see anything. Unless you have it on your teleprompter or fed to your from the control room there is nothing. This is the way it is. Another thing is unless it's confirmed you don't report on it. I find it funny all the comments I read here are from people who don't work in media and have no idea how it works. I would suggest you work in the field and then you will have a better idea.

Most look at a script and rely on the teleprompters or feed from their ear buds to let them know what is happening on live TV. A lot of that has changed over the years now.
Its easy to assume that the actual broadcaster didnt have access to the live feed, so didnt know about the second plane as it happened. But surely someone at the BBC must have seen it? You'd think they would immediately pass that info to the broadcasters.

They all completely missed the second plane smashing into tower two! Unconfirmed reports that a second plane has hit the second tower. They have it live on their broadcast! Obviously they can't see the footage being shown to the public, but it must have made it that much more horrible for people watching it as it happened. People would be watching the news for answers, when they knew more than the news anchors bringing them the news

@kydd5 Well, it's fine with hindsight to say that, prior to this no-one expected anything like this, it was an attack of horrific scale, one that had never been conceived of before. The initial response, understandably, was that it was some kind of terrible, horrific accident. The truth was far more horrible.
As for those commenting she missed the second attack - she wasn't watching the live feed. These days, news presenters have computers/laptops beside them to receive instant updates.

When the second one hit, that was the first indication that it was no mere coincidence. Then there were rumored reports coming out of the Pentagon that two planes had been hijacked. By the time the third plane hit the Pentagon, it was confirmed.

And that day, no one knew OFFICIALLY what was going on. The news reporters were all hesitant to call it an attack until they had confirmation from government officials (which is the mark of good journalism).

@kydd5 Hmm... Well, it's actually not that hard to believe she said that. Without confirmation that it was a terrorist attack (which they hadn't had yet), she had to follow the journalistic guidelines, which state that you don't say anything until you have confirmation from a reliable source.
Although, as far as her having seen it, you can tell from other vids that they clearly were not paying attention to their feeds, so she may not have seen the plane until later. But I get what you mean.

When your working as an anchor in TV you don't see anything. Unless you have it on your teleprompter or fed to your from the control room there is nothing. This is the way it is. Another thing is unless it's confirmed you don't report on it. I find it funny all the comments I read here are from people who don't work in media and have no idea how it works. I would suggest you work in the field and then you will have a better idea.

Most look at a script and rely on the teleprompters or feed from their ear buds to let them know what is happening on live TV. A lot of that has changed over the years now.

I'm English, and I had never heard of terrorism until this, and it made me realise how evil some people are. I cried that night, because I was so scared and sad. This was the first time I heard of Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda too.
