My great-grandfather was african american and everyone else in my family is white. Does that make me black enought to be considered african american?????? Please help me im cofused about my race??
ok.im over all this race bullish..SHE'S A HUMAN BEING...RACE IS A SOCIAL CONSTRUCT!.for those slower indivuduals....it means that it has no real basis in biology...its a concept created by mankind to justify the Superiority of one supposed race..to rationalize the etermination and marginalization of another for financial means....like colonism of the early settlers of amercia.sigh..READ A BOOK.
AND MULATTO IS NOT A PROPER TERM..it has a derogatory history.that I dont have enough space to write
Thats not completely true, I have met black people who are fine, and not racist and I have met some who carry a huge chip on their shoulder. I have also met white people who are extremely racist and those that have not a care what colour a person is. Personally I don't think a persons colour is a thing of importance. Its their personality thats what counts.
White people spread racism now evertime a black person dates a white person atleast one person points it out and now white teens are starting to say n**ga again just because BLACK rappers say it doesnt mean you can noone is stopping you from going around and calling eachother cra**er sorry had to get that off my chest...
I think mulatto girls amoing the cutest ["Sweet Cream ladies Forward March", the 1969 song about rock autograph hounds/groupies by the famed "Letter" blue eyed soul band Box Tops is, IIRC, about mulatto girls.]
If you ever go to south america, brazil in particular, you will see what a social construct race is. Their understanding of race is so different than the american idea of race because pretty much EVERYONE is mixed...a bit anglo saxon a bit african a bit hispanic a bit everything. The funny thing is,most people here in the US are probably a lot more mixed than they even know. I'm as white as white can be, a pale irish girl, and I have african americans in my direct blood lineage.
@GenerationB0RED that is utter bullshit. Race is huge in Brazil. They have a racial caste system you idiot. White Brazilians like Sergio Da Veiera are on top then metizos, then mulattos, than full blacks. Same in every south american nation.
@knightschwartz Sorry, you got that one wrong, and I say that from direct interaction/experience with the culture. There's no "caste system" in Brazil. The main form of marginalization is economic, but as far as race relations, I'd say Brazil is ahead of the US. Brazilians have been fine with interracial marriage decades before the US, and you have tons of beautiful Maya Rudolphs in the streets of Brazil. Btw, "mestiço" and "mulato" are synonymous.
Yes, there is economic racism, BUT for centuries now, Brazilians have OPENLY PRACTICED miscegenation. Pure Whites in Brazil are rare. Especially north and east of Rio.
You know, you go to a sugar plantation owner's estate, and his daughter-in-law is pitch black. His grand kids are blacker than the maids and the nannies.
No one thinks anything of it.
Marrying Black in Brazil used to mean "marrying down", in social-economic terms, but Brazilians were never into apartheid.
@SadieMirsade well, i guess you can't wait till America turns into Brazil then. I doubt your description is accurate. Your definition of aparteid is rather loose. You seem to suggest that blacks are of a high economic strata in Brazil which is not true and if you go to any latin American country you will find a prosperous white elite which does secretly look down on it's members who marry "down" as you say with blacks or others. See the movie "Y Tumbo BIen" (or however you spell it
In Latin America, Mulattos have been accepted for centuries. That's why there are very few "real" Whites in most Latin American countries. Even among the traditional elite.
Whiteness in Latin America is about economic privilege. Latinos don't like "real" Whites. They're not really fond of our pasty skin and flat asses. Their idea of beauty is a light-skinned Mulatto......ie. Jennifer Lopez, Eva Mendes, "the almost Whites".
@SadieMirsade 1. your right mulattos have long been accepted in Brazil as they are in the US today. I didn't mean to imply otherwise. I just thought when you said that race was not at all an issue in Brazil esp. to the white uppercrust you were wrong. Mixing ofcourse is much less taboo there but still not like u said. 2. Your self hatred is sad. You appear to love the idea of europe vanishing (genocidal fantasies?) 3. ur ad hominem stuff is no suprise to me.4. ur well brainwashed.
I'm just not hung up on racial purity, to the degree that some people are.
As far as "Europe Vanishing"?
Europe, as you'd like it to BE, vanished about 600 years ago,
when Europeans decided to explore and conquer foreign lands.
If Europeans wanted remain PURE, they should've stayed home, and built walls on the Bosphorus and Gibraltar. Instead, they screwed and colonized half the world,
My point, is that things like The Black List are racist. They perpetuate racial separatism. Any thing that sets one group apart, either raising them up as exceptional or denegrating them for their racial differences is Racist. Black History Month, Latio History Month, are as racist as would be a White History Month. They all pander to the basest motivation in all of us. My skin is no lighter than Maya's. When you set yourself apart as a group, bad things happen: the Jews are a good example.
@mudrake2 Oh PLEASE. Have you ever heard of white privilege? Whites don't have the experience of being the exotic Other. Think about the illogicalness of what you're saying before you open your trap. When they start teaching history in schools from the WHOLE perspective of non-White people, then Black History Month/Latino History Month, etc. will disappear. Until then, theyr'e here to say. Humans always set themselves apart. Save us the "colorblind" bullshit delusion. *rolls eyes*
@SaintPandemonium wtf are you talking about? have u been to school. they DO teach all parts of history. my history class always talked about discrimination like 60% of the class was something about blacks or w/e from slavery to northern migration like Chicago etc. plus latino is not a race a lot of latinos are WHITE and BLACK.whites are "the exotic other" to minorities. ever wonder why so many asian girls go out with white guys? hint:blonde hair/green eyes are exotic. who ares about race anyway
@SaintPandemonium no its the other way around.prove me wrong.everything i said was correct i could show u my textbooks and see for yourself plus latino is not a race it even said on the 2010 census "for this census hispanic/latino is not a race" a lot are white like castro or black like sammy sosa so..wtf?. and every group is exotic, depends on the person i might find blues as more exotic than brown because i already have brown eyes lol..so..how am i misinformed?pls i want to hear
@thunderheart226 I never said Latino was a race in my argument, EVER, so what are you talking about? I know all about the diversity of the Latino people.
@thunderheart226 LMAO If Latino isn't a race, La Raza might find that as a surprise. The NAACP, La Raza are racist organizations. They exist to promote one race over another. News flash, before long, African Americans are going to be #2 on the entilement list after Hispanics. Really? You are citing text books? Really? We all know they are the last word on things. I used to teach so I know thats not true.
@mudrake2 latino is not a race. a lot of latinos are black.la raza hints at NATIVE AMERICANS aka AZTECS a lot of latinos are white. ricky martin fidel castro, alexis bledel.hispanic does not mean brown,is che guavara brown?no hes WHITE many Argentineans are white so no latino is not a race. go ask any scientist. is sammy sosa(black latino) the same race as evo morales(native american)?la raza are idiots, they are pro native american because thats tier race NOT all latinos are native american.
@thunderheart226 The other citation is called a convention, in studies you can arbitrarily state whatever boundary conditions you like. That is exactly what they did in the census. The phrase, "for this" should have been a tipoff for anyone except maybe a high schooler.
As I said before, you missed the intent of my original post, which it to say any "color" list which implies a race is special is racist. You gotta be a woman. You think like one, totally irrational.
@mudrake2 lol and you bash women LOL. like i said latino is not a race thats impossible by that logic american is a race (buts thats impossible too =]) i agree that noone needs special privilege, but to ignore the reality of history makes u sound like a fool. by history i mean the mix of WHITE BLACK AND NATIVE AMERICAN in latin america. la raza just tries to justify illegal immigration. la raza fails to realize that many latinos are black mulatto and white creoles . french ppl are latino too.
@SaintPandemonium That's intelligent. You can't argue the point without emotion so you resort to ad hominem attacks. You miss the whole point of my comments. Typical. Anything that divides by race, raises one over the other as exceptional or in short, plays the race card, is by definition, racist. I've known people like you my whole life, and unfortunately, PC has empowered your type and given you a forum.
@mudrake2 yea ppl are too pc. its cuz its easy now. whites have to be liberal because of history. but when u throw radical groups like new black panthers or w/e they arent viewed as evil as the kkk. i hate malcolm x for the same reasons u probably do but every white person in my class is just gobbling his nuts like hes a hero or something.
@thunderheart226 The documentary called "Dark Girls" is an example of racism even amongst Blacks. This was produced by Bill Duke, one of my favorite black actors, and that man Is BLACK. This documentary will make you want to cry. Do a search for it on utube, I'll upload it.
@mudrake2 hmmm im surprised from what i saw.i guess here in nyc blacks are very pro-black and very anti "the man" but that documentary hmmm i guess some older ppl still have that mentality. i mean not to be an ass but the best looking black women ive seen always were mixed with something. like mariah carrey or tyra banks.even maya is pretty good looking and that girl from that show "the office" had no idea she was half black.
@thunderheart226 I actually think Whoopi Goldberg is an attractive black woman. I don't see "black" in women like Maya, Vanessa Williams, Beyonce, Mariah, I see white. I would bet they are no more than 1/4 to 1/3 black.
I see the Williams sisters, Serena and Venus as attractive black women. I've dated black women who were in my opinion unadulterated in their heritage and looked it. In fact I would argue that you could probably have told what region in Africa they were from.
Are you an idiot? Beyonce father is black and her mother is mixed. She is 75% black at least.
As for the Williams sisters what makes them a representive of black beauty? Nobody looks at Justine Henin or Lindsay Davenport as white beauty. Just because they're good at sports, doesn't mean they're good-looking you brainless bigot.
@brightlights456X Did you fail fractions is school? Beyonce's mom if far less than half black, her skin is lighter than mine, and her father is not full blooded African either. Get real. Wishful thinking doesn't make it so. As far as who the bigot is, look in the mirror, watch the video, Dark Girls, about racism amongst blacks based on skin color. By your own words you reveal you are one of those people. What you find attractive in blacks are obviously the white traits.
Skin tone proves F'all. Didn't you watch this video? Maya states that she and her prove have different skin tones. So Beyonce mother being lighter than you means....nothing. Also, I find it funny you ignored my tennis comment. You pick two clearly unattractive black women to represent black beauty YET, pick the most famous light skinned women to be the converse...bigot.
"father is not full blooded African either"
Yeah, his blonde hair & blues eyes were a give away.....idiot!
@mudrake2 i don't understand your point. beyonce's parents are black, but you see her as a white woman? just delete your entire post. it doesn't make any sense.
lets get real beside recent africans there are few blacks in america. most blacks r mixed whether they "look" it or not. (pure africans look very diverse to the point where u can really say there r different races of blacks in africa. lol.) most blacks r at least 1/4 non-black & that % is going up daily. also its hard to call people like obama mulato when many blacks r less african than him. blacks in america r mulatos r in effect becoming such w/ each generation due mixing effecting us more
@Chacha5678. im just saying whats going on in the black community as in about 4 generation we will be unblackened to the point of no return. im saying the black population is already mixed and with the fake one drop rule we will continue to look less black every generation. i mean its a fact native black americans are having less babies and mixing more w/ non blacks (nothing wrong with it). one drop rule concurrent with race mixing is diluting the blacks out of existence. pretty much like mexico
@Chacha5678. race mixing is ok but when in excess and when 1 group is the subordinate group it get complicated. take 2 groups native blacks and native amerindians. they both have many problems although the indian got it worse in that mixing with whites have made most native americans white and 2 non-american native american from latin america are replacing them. blacks have the same problem in that native black population is whitening and the remaining blacks will be non-native or their kids.
@mykole84 I still don't see a problem here. You do know that people made terms such as "black", "white", "native american", etc. and that they don't really matter, at all. people put too much importance on them. this is why there's so many problems. it's so hard to see that we're all just people and it doesn't matter if you have a different skin color or hair color, we can still bond.
maya is beautiful, and honestly I think sometimes her and jen beals do look alike, they I think are really beautiful women., regardless of race, they are just simply beauitful., and seem to have wonderful personalties too.
she looks more black than white (same with rashida jones), and why she referring to herself and other as "mixed"..IMO that sounds lame like a colour paint (mixing colours), not the right term, sounds more like an insult and disrespectful...she should refer to herself as biracial, or multicultural
@majiicpu3D ...I don't agree that her and Rashida Jones look black at all....Are you black? Usually blacks are the first to say that someone who is racially mixed looks MORE BLACK than white....It's like you can't accept it that they are mixed so you have to emphasis the black within them more....the usual rhetoric...What are typical "Black" characteristics anyway? ...They look like they both have tans...that's about it!
Why is this called the Black List Project? Seems they're clinging to the old segregationists "one drop" rule. Why does Maya define herself as black when, truth be told, there is probably less Negro blood in her than Caucasian. I doubt her mother has unadulterated African genes. I had a great great great grandmother who was "high yellar" a quadroon, so by her definition of black, I would be black too.
@jjjred1987 A quadroon, one quarter black. Someone who could pass for white, like Maya, if they chose too. In New Orleans where the French held sway for so long, the terms quadroon, octaroon is 1/8th black. In Maya's case i would say she is no more than a Quadroon one white parent and one mixed white and black. I'm probably only 1/64th at most probably less, but by the "One Drop" definition clung to by Blacks themselves, I would be as black as Obama. Who at 1/2 white and black is a mulatto.
No I am questioning why mixed race people cling to the black half, or quarter or eighth. The old definition from slave days was "One drop of black blood" and your were black, period, thats it and all about it.
I find it odd that they cling to that definition placed on them by the institution that enslaved them in the first place. Obama is not black, he is half black and half white. The black half got him elected despite the white half. No white could have been elected with those qualifications
@mudrake2 presidents in the past were white and they qualified! the way i see it it is either you are black or white! no hosipitals and whatnot would never make up a race like mixed! there is always a case to where people will say that black is strong!
@SaintPandemonium LOL cultural identity? Really? Really? What like hip hop? Ghetto chique? You have to be kidding. Your obtuseness is astounding if you think that is what this coversation is about. It is racism pure and simple. If whites tauted the white cultural identity, they would be called white supremists. The fact of the matter is a lot of mixed bloods, starting with the President grasp at straws. The President does not have a clue about black culture or what blacks are about.
@mudrake2 There is far more to Black cultural identity than hip-hop. That is one aspect, one RECENT aspect. If you did your research you'd know this. You'd know of the rich folklore and musical traditions, but since you don't, you just pander to foolishness. As far as I see it, whites can have their cultural identity, who's it bothering? (besides anti-white racists) In fact, whites SHOULD get more in touch with their ancestral roots instead of following "American culture" (whatever that is).
@SaintPandemonium who cares about ancestral roots?why try to be something your not?(i.e an american) american culture is so rich. what do you mean "whatever that is" did you fall asleep during history class? americas culture even has its own wiki. there is so much to american culture like film music comedy Broadway food, holidays, sports so much crap =].why do people always make it seem as if usa has no culture or "life" and that "roots" is the right direction?
@SaintPandemonium He grew up in Indonesia, and Hawaii, not your typical black neigborhoods. Contact with his "black" roots in Kenya were minimal. So how can possibly know anything. My whole point, which you missed is African Americans cling to the same racial definitions that were used to keep them down, and enbrace them as part of their identity. Sad and pitiful.
@mudrake2 Firstly, how in God's name do you know what his contact with Kenya was? Secondly, your "whole point' was skewed when you went on and on about how "The Black List" is racist. Your opinion is rooted in insecurity and farce. Thirdly, there are many types of African-Americans whose identities are, or are not, connected with their appearance. Perhaps if the media would stop hiring Biracials to play Blacks some of this madness would stop, but until then the one drop rule will persist.
@SaintPandemonium and yes american culture is very unique its a mix of african european and everything else. jazz blues country rock its all a mix of different instruments and ppl. film broadway comedy sitcoms, and even southern food is a mix including native american as well we have a very rich culture how am i misinformed? i dont know which comment u responded to so ill just wait for your reply. im not even white before you label me an asshole like that dude mudrake2
@thunderheart226 Jazz, Blues, Country, Gospel, Hip-Hop, Soul, Negro Spirituals...all of that is African-derived. It may have elements from other people, but the African power in is the dominant feature. Southern food has British and Native influences mostly, but Black Southern food ("soul food") is SO African, it's amazing seeing that cultural connection. Also, I never said you were White and was never GOING to say it.
@SaintPandemonium sould and southern food are so similar. soul food may have african things like okra but its american soul food is just southern food small differences like chit lens but its mostly just native american plus other things. jazz blues are more black but they do have european roots. the piano and classical musical is a root of jazz piano. country is just a mix of african and european/celtic.modern day stuff has less african like black metal hardcore punk rock etc
I've always loved Maya for her keen sense of humor & knack for creating witty characters. I love her even more for her humility. I miss her on Saturday Night Live.
It couldn't have been easy growing up in a 'mixed' family. It's hard enough living in an homogeneous one.
I grew up in a large (6 kids) WASP family. My father held two jobs to feed & clothe us. I never heard him or my mother utter a racist remark, yet 2 of my brothers aren't as racially sympathetic. My point? 4 out of 6 ain't bad!
To the mixed race person who sent me a racist message: Your name calling and hate is the reason why I won't make one of you on purpose. I can't imagine that someone who has a black parent would use the language that you used to describe black people.
@WhereYaBoss Actually as long as we uphold the idea of race as constructed in the Western Hemisphere that is holding onto racism. If race which does NOT even truly exist can be created it can be ERADICATED. Race is NOT real. Racism is a problem because you have whties who perpetuate it and the very people that this construct of race is oppressing have upheld it and perpetuate fighting against each other.
@WhereYaBoss We need to stop using terms like black and especially WHITE. Think about it. If there was nothing wrong with being black, which the social construct suggests there is, then no one would have a problem being called such.
@WhereYaBoss People would not have a problem being one drop ruled to black but instead the whole point is suppose to support the REVERSE one drop rule which is done in Latin America and Caribbean and in the Arab and Muslim nations. Look at what is going on with Afro Latinos and Afro Arabs. The self hate and denial of Afro heritage among Latinos and Arabs is strong and they often hate on blacks and their black families.
@army2k08 Someone named cloudbird...the account has been deleted. But I'm sure they will open up another one. These are the same folks who Jay was talking about when he was kicking people out of the race. It's unsettling that we share part of the same heritage yet we fight amongst each other and call each other names. We're divided by blood count now. Isn't that something? At what point is a person no longer black but white?? When he or she is sounding like a member of the KKK? I'm baffled.
@WhereYaBoss Let's establish first Jay's motives are driven by primarily by colorism. I've see him comment on biracial videos other than his own. But to the point..everyone seems to expect a biracial to automatically walk on water, when in fact we are all products of the construct. There are some very sick biracials out there without a doubt. Biracial is just proof that the idea of race is just a figment of time frame and perspective. The answer always ends up in a paradoxical loop.
@army2k08 That's why I don't consider it "the cure" as some have suggested. I'm not going to separate myself from a biracial person because they have a white parent. That's crazy. Yet, some want to separate themselves from people like me because we have a few more ounces of "black" blood than them. That is more racist than any KKKish encounter I've ever had. When you start diving up blood count your just about at Hitler status to me. When a person wants their own community based on genes....smh
@WhereYaBoss No no..not a cure..just a different actors playing the same role. Racism tends to evolve with the times. All I know is that a white supremacist may or may not be white.
@army2k08 True, they may not be 100% but it's enough that no one can tell, right? Hey, you know what's interesting is when I say I don't plan to have a biracial child, some biracials get angry with me. But how is that different than the biracials who have told me they don't plan to have children with a black person? Isn't that the same thing? I actually encourage them to have children with their preference. Iif it's a white person all the better, if let's say the person doesnt like black folks.
@WhereYaBoss The person who sent you a horrible message is an internet troll who hates themselves for what is I'm sure a myriad of reasons. The least of which is the color of their own skin I'm sure. Take heart. If we believe thing can be different and lead by example, they will be. Conversation is a start.
@cdwadams Do you have children? How would you feel if you found out they were telling their friends you were their stepmother because they're ashamed of you?
@WhereYaBoss No, I don't have kids yet, but this ain't Imitation of Life circa 1934 or 1959. This is 2010 and by the time any kids I have will be old enough to be ashamed of me, they will have bigger things to be embarrassed of me for. I believe that if you talk to kids about race and how it used to be, if you are open with them then it won't come up in that context.
I'm midbrown complexion, intelligent, considered handsome and I "talk white." But I'm still Black! My Mother's grandaddy was irish; my father's ancestoral back ground is choctaw and black. I'm 1/4 white and my brother has blue eyes...not that murky gray some blacks have CAUSCAIAN BLUE....and no matter what you look like or do....to some causcasoids you will always be a nigger! And I'm tired of calling the word nigger the "n" word! It is what it is.....be proud of your BLACKNESS!
@APGifts I was never disagreeing with you. All I was saying is that Vin Diesel has often not disclosed much on his black side and has mentioned everything but black at times on interview.
I clearly see that Vin Diesel is mixed race. He looks mixed. I know he is NOT full BLACK-Race lol
Uhm -- how am I "losing it" -- by sharing a link to a great photo of Wentworth Miller?
You really seem to have problems with literally 'anything' that I post (no matter how neutral or non-controversial).
In the past I ignored your constant criticism of my posts because they were on certain subject matters, but at this point it is clear that literally 'anything' that I post (even posting that are not in response to you) seems to trigger you to respond with negativity & hostility.
@APGifts Smoke a reefer or whatever you take regularly to calm down. I never wrote a comment to you, yet you keep filling my inbox with multiple replies as if I was directing my comments left over 3 MONTHS AGO at you. You are not Vin Diesel so chill out, put your fingers tips together and repeat after me "woosah" "woosah"....
No one is "filling your inbox with multiple replies".
This is how YouTube works ...
When someone responds to a comment that was posted, the original poster is informed, BY YOUTUBE, of the response via YOUTUBE sending the poster a copy of the response.
You are THE ONLY person I have ever met who actually thought they were being contacted by the 'comment responder' (rather than by YouTube).
@APGifts Na, damnit you know exactly what I mean. Just scroll down. You have sent me comment after damn comment in response to a comment I left 3 DARN MONTHS AGO. As I said, you are not Vin Diesel so I don't know why you are going off as if you are. Everything I wrote in the first comment is the truth and I'm sorry if that truth bothers you perhaps you should take it up with the people who are ashamed to be labeled black that they will pretend to be Italian and every other race but who they are!
Half African-American, half Italian-American, Mark Vincent ... would later be famous as Vin Diesel ...
Never knowing his biological father, Vin was raised by his mother and adoptive-father in a housing project in Greenwich Village, New York. He has ... a fraternal twin brother named Paul (film Editor).

I know Minnie Riperton is her mother but does ANYBODY consider her black? Just looking at her I wouldn't know. She looks like she's mixed with something. Maybe "white" and Greek or something like that. I wonder how people treat her.
Well she is Black! I don't care what she looks like on the outside, she is. Race matters because listen to your statement...."you wonder how people treat her". You wonder because of the blackness in her. If she was all white or mixed with greek that would be cool, but because she is black, now there is an issue?!........That is why I will never mess with a white dude let alone have children by them because of the bull they would have to contend with.
@tbr0827 Let me ask you this: Do you consider Slash black? How about Kimora Lee? Slash has a black mother and Kimora has a black father. Would you know right away they were "black"? I know I wouldn't. And if I saw Maya for the first time I wouldn't think she was black either. All I was trying to say was does she face any racism or do people see her as a white woman. I don't understand the other nonsense you're saying but I'm not white. U can mate with a dog for all I care. That's your business.
Maya Rupholph should be given better movies to be in than Away We Go and whatever the title of that Adam Sandler movie she was in. She definately has a quality that has yet to be tapped and utilized properly. Perhaps P.T. Anderson should put her in one of his movies.
WHAT IS THE POINT OF HAVING BIRACIAL KIDS?, CAN'T BLACK PEOPLE SEE THAT THEY ARE LOSING THEIR IDENTITY BY HAVING MIXED KIDS? THESE KIDS WHO LOOK WHITE WILL REMARY WITH WHITES AND HAVE WHITE BABIES.THEY ONLY BRING UP THEIR BLACK SIDE WHEN IT'S CONVENIENT FOR THEM.NOT RACIST JUST TELLING THE THRUTH
Mixed too sister. I wish I had the luxury of being mixed in Cali or having tits. I grew up in Texas and fought my way through school with black and white. Latins were cool tho. People said be tough, but even if you win more than you lose, it makes school suck pretty bad. I studied my ass off so I could get it over with and get in college. Too bad I went to college in the Midwest. More clicky than HS. After fighting in 2 wars recently, I settled in a military town and we're common here.
She didn't know Jennifer Beales was mixed because she lied about her race to get the part. She forgot to mention the controversy that surrounded her once people found out she was NOT Italian as her bio suggested. Her career took a tumble. In fact, she couldn't get arrested in Hollywood until nearly 15 years later. Same thing is happening with Vin Diesel. It's one thing not to label yourself, but if you do label yourself why do you have to lie? Be proud to be mixed with black. Don't be ashamed!
@WhereYaBoss I hear what you're saying and I understand where you're coming from, Nothing wrong with showing a little pride and awareness of your identity, but one word to me means something entirely different to you. Not it's literal translation but what is signified, the assumptions and emotions with one word. It doesn't mean the word is not true or that you're shying away from it. It merely mean you'd like to escape the box of that word and all that it carries with it.
@Ahnyanka, I understand wanting to get away from the "assumptions and emotions". But people who run away from the word fail to realize that it means a host of many other very beautiful things. So, I'm proud to say I m black. I also understand my mixed heritage. Yet, I notice that some people want all of the positives of being black, but none of the negatives. So they choose another label and use 'black' as a sidebar when it benefits them: Like when audtioning for black roles in movies or Ads.
@WhereYaBoss...yeah...what's up with Vin Diesel? What's going on with him and his career? Do u know? He suddenly fell off the face of the earth? Wonder what happened to him.
Vin Diesel and his girlfriend had a kid -- so now -- that's ALL he is interested in anymore -- his little daughter (who he does NOT allow to press to photograph).
@WhereYaBoss Back up! Vin Diesel has NEVER, EVER even once LIED about or denied being of part-Black lineage! IN FACT, his 1ST FILM (which he made on his own & which impressed Steven Spielberg enough to cast in him 'Saving Private Ryan') WAS called MULTI-FACIAL & it documented how he, as a part-BLACK, light-complexioned, Mixed-Race actor was constantly rejected at auditions calling for 'black', 'white', 'latino' or 'mixed' characters. Vin Diesel has NEVER, EVER denied being part-Black!
@APGifts Vin Diesel has often said he was not black and I remember reading and seeing on television somewhere where he said he was not black. I do know that they have mentioned mixed but I have heard him claim just Italian, but little does he know like many others ITALIAN is a race.
At no point did I say that Vin Diesel "called himself BLACK".
What I said was that 'he's never denied being of PART-black lineage'.
His first film (Multifacial) -- which he wrote, directed, cast & funded by himself -- was about his personal struggles as a part-black actor that's constantly being turned down for roles due to having racially-ambiguous features
Diesel's being of PART-Black lineage is something that he's NEVER denied.
And again, HE'S of MIXED-Race, NOT full BLACK-Race.
In fact, at nearly every post I've made over the past few days, I have had to delete & repost my comments because "SOMEONE" is stalking-&-spamming all of my comments at the videos that YOU send to me and request my comments)
Perhaps it's the same person who is attacking yours (& you notice I did NOT "accuse" you).
Until now, I considered you an online friend -- & I want you to know that I take issue with & am offended by your false accusation.
@chsn09 Exactly Vin Diesel has been evading the question about what he is in every mainstream interview where the subject came up. He has even shaven his tale-tell afrocentric textured hair. That's what most "passing" male actors do. See also, Wenthrop Miller, Mark Salling, etc etc...
@WhereYaBoss Yes. EXACTLY. Maya Rudolph I heard has evaded questions about her black ancestry just like many others have. Thandie Newton does not consider herself black and she is from the UK but she plays "black for cash". It is sad and pathetic that people are only black for certain things or getting them out of being called racist or playing the race card when they bash blacks. So sad. And then they act like so called "black" people are pure blacks.
Since when did Maya Ruolph or Corbin Blue "evade questions" or "try to pass"?
Maya's black-categorized mom is one of the most famous icons in American music history &, other than Mulatto, what else would anyone assume Corbin to have been (it's not as if he's extremely light or has straight hair)?
Other than 'Flirting', in every film I have ever seen of Thandie Newton, she has always starred as a Mulatto (not a a Black person).
Even in Crash, one assumes she's Mulatto, not Black.
@APGifts Yeah but a lot of people take them as fair skinned "blacks" in the USA. They may mention mixture. BUt it all depends. Maya Rudolph* and many other mixed actors and celebrities have avoided mentioning their black heritage or distance themselves from it.
@chsn09 You're right! They do evade the question. I just saw Mark Salling do that on the Wendy Williams Show. They say they want to avoid being labeled. But as soon as a black movie goes into production they have the nerve to go to the auditions and have no problem taking a role from someone who doesnt mind announcing their African Ancestry. Thus, 'black' for cash. I really feel like black for cash has to stop.
@WhereYaBoss This black for cash really does have to stop. I hate it how many mixed race people one drop black people and make them feel inferior as if they are pure black when in fact many so called blacks are more mixed than mixed people and the mixed people love doing that a lot but when done to the mixed people they are being racist and an afronazi?? WTF. Black for cash is ridiculous. THere are many more actors and actresses that partake in flaunting their black side like a cheap product
@chsn09 Right and if I were Italians I would start standing up to some of these people claiming to be one of them in order to get out of being called black. I think it's a shame that many mixed people are hiding out as Italian as if Italians don't know their own people! They also pretend to be Puerto Rican and Cuban and it's not fair to those people. Why can't they just be who they are? They are so ashamed to be half-black but when it comes to getting paid to be black suddenly they aren't.
@WhereYaBoss I see so many biracials hiding behind labels like Cuban, Puerto Rican, Italian. People don't realize those are just nationalities lol NOT races. They cling onto those national identities to get out of being called black because that nationality group looked down on their black heritage so they try to fit in and decide to NOT call themselves black. It is like they hate their heritage but they love it and hate at the same time when getting paid. I don't know how people can do it.
@chsn09 Yes, one of my biracial college roommates went around telling people she was Italian until an Italian boy on campus confronted her in front of a fraternity house full of people. He said out loud "You're not Italian!" and everyone turned around. "Stop saying you're Italian when you're not." She was so embarassed. He asked her 'What's your last name? What area of Italy are you from?" Her last name was Fleming and she was from Astoria, NY. I think more Italians need to stand up to them.
@WhereYaBoss Wow why couldn't your biracial college roomate just claim the white ethnic group she is a part of? That is sad and it only showed her reality. Vin Diesel has said he was Puerto Rican, Dominican, Cuban etc at times when he has a little bit of those heritages in him. I love when some biracials to get out of being black use the excuse "oh well you are what your father is" but then if their mother is the white one, they are like "oh I can't deny my mother either" so they can claim white
@chsn09 See that's the thing. They should be able to claim their white side, too, but white people are not having it. My old roommate's father was supposedly a little bit Italian but mostly just Gringo. But see Italians aren't accepting fractions. Yet, they never do a video about that. There are all these videos that says "I'm not black, I'm mixed/biracial" but i have not seen one video that said, "How come white people don't accept me as part white?" And I'm not talking about family & friends.
@WhereYaBoss Exactly.Im like why do biracials get angry if you accept them for being black. They want to say black people are being racist to them but claiming them because they are part black, and I am like this is not about claiming you as soley black but because part of you is what black people are and many blacks they seem to forget are NOT monoracial. Hence why they use the one drop rule to ODR blacks. Hypocritcal much. They want to be accepted as white but they try so hard and get no where
@chsn09 They are racing in mud. The only way they will be accepted as part white is if they have kids with a white person and their off-spring has kids with a white person and that third generation looks completely white. Their GRANDCHILD would be accepted as white, but the thing is that grandchild would never let people know that their grandma or grandpa was half-black. They would keep it a secret. It's like they are racing through mud. And they want to blame us because they're not getting far
@WhereYaBoss Exactly. It is like bi-racials mixed of black and white are angry that they are the only mixed race group that have to be lumped with black while other mixed race mixtures group can get to claim both of their sides lol. So in essence they figure they can't be considered white but then they realize that they can say they are not black as a way to come close to being labelled more towards white and they make fun of who black people look to deem them less black.
@WhereYaBoss Many bi-racials will even associate with other groups and say blacks are racist and holding them back. They play this game so that ultimately they can claim their white side. Some pick and choose when to be black and get offended when you call them black but then when you mention to them about their ignroance of what blacks go through they throw the "I'm part black" at you so they don't feel schooled or that their intelligence is not insulted. One even said they look more white
@WhereYaBoss I was telling this one biracial dude on YT. Talking about oh they are not black but then they go and claim every other heritage over the black and want to act as if they are not even part black and bash black people many times when the blacks could be mixed themselves and say oh blacks and biracials need to be split and set apart? Blacks are always the ones reaching out so why should biracials and blacks be seperated? It is stupid. At the end of the day white is exclusive
@chsn09, there's opinions and then there's the truth. If a biracial person is part Black and part-White, that is there genetic heritage. That's just a fact. I don't like to be called Black OR White. I am both. I am proud of both. ... Also, you say "Blacks are always the ones reaching out". Not true. For every snobbish biracial person there's a racist Black person who won't accept someone biracial, no matter how nice that person is.
@CheezInspector Please learn to READ everything before you post a comment. NOW, I understand that a biracial person is biracial no matter what. But my thing is biracials that will try to evade being called black or distancing themselves from people knowing about their blackness by saying things like oh they are Cuban, or Puerto Rican, or Italian so others don't find out they have black in them or African American in them. Most of the times blacks will have a biracials back
@chsn09, read everything you said and unfortunately you made some pretty sweeping generalizations about two groups of people (biracials and Blacks). You can't throw everyone into a category as you did and expect not to get corrected.
@CheezInspector LMFAO. Well if YOU READ everything that I had posted you will see why it may have looked that way. I have NO problems being corrected as I myself correct others. No problem/no biggie.
But ultimately a biracial person is seen as black. I DO NOT SUPPORT THE ONE DROP RULE, but I am just saying.
@chsn09, it depends on what the biracial person looks like. Not every biracial person looks obviously Black. Even if that were true, the racist "One Drop Rule" is someone's misinformed generalization. It doesn't represent the truth of who biracial people are LOL
@CheezInspector So, Is the One Drop Rule racist when you use it on black people, and latinos? Or just when it's used on mulattos? So-called biracial people routinely refuse to acknowledge the multiracialness of "black" people but call them rape babies. Even after they talk exhaustively about how historically the ODR was used for centuries in North America. If you acknowledge the presence of ODR, you have to also acknowledge that because of this, "blacks" on this continent are multiracial.
@WhereYaBoss, yes, the ODR is always racist in that its usage requires that a person not be viewed in proper racial context. I don't care whether or not the person abusing the rule is mono-racial, biracial, or basically multi-racial. It's the rule itself that is racist.
@CheezInspector My point is that blacks are not monoracial. When you call them monoracial you are in fact one-dropping them. Because of the historial use of ODR they are in fact multiracial. The only thing in the past that kept families together was the one drop rule. But now that mixed folks don't want to be connected to their black relatives, I no longer support ODR. I'm actually against the ODR and I think more black people should reject the One Drop Rule so that we can save our bloodlines.

Thats not completely true, I have met black people who are fine, and not racist and I have met some who carry a huge chip on their shoulder.
GenerationB0RED 7 months ago 2
@GenerationB0RED that is utter bullshit. Race is huge in Brazil. They have a racial caste system you idiot. White Brazilians like Sergio Da Veiera are on top then metizos, then mulattos, than full blacks. Same in every south american nation.
knightschwartz 2 months ago 4
@knightschwartz Sorry, you got that one wrong, and I say that from direct interaction/experience with the culture. There's no "caste system" in Brazil. The main form of marginalization is economic, but as far as race relations, I'd say Brazil is ahead of the US. Brazilians have been fine with interracial marriage decades before the US, and you have tons of beautiful Maya Rudolphs in the streets of Brazil. Btw, "mestiço" and "mulato" are synonymous.
MyTulipani 1 month ago
@knightschwartz
SadieMirsade 2 weeks ago
@SadieMirsade well, i guess you can't wait till America turns into Brazil then. I doubt your description is accurate. Your definition of aparteid is rather loose. You seem to suggest that blacks are of a high economic strata in Brazil which is not true and if you go to any latin American country you will find a prosperous white elite which does secretly look down on it's members who marry "down" as you say with blacks or others. See the movie "Y Tumbo BIen" (or however you spell it
knightschwartz 2 weeks ago
@knightschwartz
SadieMirsade 2 weeks ago
@SadieMirsade 1. your right mulattos have long been accepted in Brazil as they are in the US today. I didn't mean to imply otherwise. I just thought when you said that race was not at all an issue in Brazil esp. to the white uppercrust you were wrong. Mixing ofcourse is much less taboo there but still not like u said. 2. Your self hatred is sad. You appear to love the idea of europe vanishing (genocidal fantasies?) 3. ur ad hominem stuff is no suprise to me.4. ur well brainwashed.
knightschwartz 2 weeks ago
@knightschwartz

White is BEAUTIFUL.
God gives and takes.
Instead, they screwed and colonized half the world,
SadieMirsade 2 weeks ago
My point, is that things like The Black List are racist. They perpetuate racial separatism. Any thing that sets one group apart, either raising them up as exceptional or denegrating them for their racial differences is Racist. Black History Month, Latio History Month, are as racist as would be a White History Month. They all pander to the basest motivation in all of us. My skin is no lighter than Maya's. When you set yourself apart as a group, bad things happen: the Jews are a good example.
mudrake2 8 months ago
@mudrake2 Oh PLEASE. Have you ever heard of white privilege? Whites don't have the experience of being the exotic Other. Think about the illogicalness of what you're saying before you open your trap. When they start teaching history in schools from the WHOLE perspective of non-White people, then Black History Month/Latino History Month, etc. will disappear. Until then, theyr'e here to say. Humans always set themselves apart. Save us the "colorblind" bullshit delusion. *rolls eyes*
SaintPandemonium 8 months ago
@SaintPandemonium wtf are you talking about? have u been to school. they DO teach all parts of history. my history class always talked about discrimination like 60% of the class was something about blacks or w/e from slavery to northern migration like Chicago etc. plus latino is not a race a lot of latinos are WHITE and BLACK.whites are "the exotic other" to minorities. ever wonder why so many asian girls go out with white guys? hint:blonde hair/green eyes are exotic. who ares about race anyway

thunderheart226 8 months ago
@thunderheart226 I never said Latino was a race in my argument, EVER, so what are you talking about? I know all about the diversity of the Latino people.
SaintPandemonium 8 months ago
@thunderheart226 LMAO If Latino isn't a race, La Raza might find that as a surprise. The NAACP, La Raza are racist organizations. They exist to promote one race over another. News flash, before long, African Americans are going to be #2 on the entilement list after Hispanics. Really? You are citing text books? Really? We all know they are the last word on things. I used to teach so I know thats not true.
mudrake2 8 months ago
@mudrake2 latino is not a race. a lot of latinos are black.la raza hints at NATIVE AMERICANS aka AZTECS a lot of latinos are white. ricky martin fidel castro, alexis bledel.hispanic does not mean brown,is che guavara brown?no hes WHITE many Argentineans are white so no latino is not a race. go ask any scientist. is sammy sosa(black latino) the same race as evo morales(native american)?la raza are idiots, they are pro native american because thats tier race NOT all latinos are native american.
thunderheart226 8 months ago
@thunderheart226 The other citation is called a convention, in studies you can arbitrarily state whatever boundary conditions you like. That is exactly what they did in the census. The phrase, "for this" should have been a tipoff for anyone except maybe a high schooler.
As I said before, you missed the intent of my original post, which it to say any "color" list which implies a race is special is racist. You gotta be a woman. You think like one, totally irrational.
mudrake2 8 months ago
@mudrake2 lol and you bash women LOL. like i said latino is not a race thats impossible by that logic american is a race (buts thats impossible too =]) i agree that noone needs special privilege, but to ignore the reality of history makes u sound like a fool. by history i mean the mix of WHITE BLACK AND NATIVE AMERICAN in latin america. la raza just tries to justify illegal immigration. la raza fails to realize that many latinos are black mulatto and white creoles . french ppl are latino too.
thunderheart226 8 months ago
@SaintPandemonium That's intelligent. You can't argue the point without emotion so you resort to ad hominem attacks. You miss the whole point of my comments. Typical. Anything that divides by race, raises one over the other as exceptional or in short, plays the race card, is by definition, racist. I've known people like you my whole life, and unfortunately, PC has empowered your type and given you a forum.
mudrake2 8 months ago
@mudrake2 yea ppl are too pc. its cuz its easy now. whites have to be liberal because of history. but when u throw radical groups like new black panthers or w/e they arent viewed as evil as the kkk. i hate malcolm x for the same reasons u probably do but every white person in my class is just gobbling his nuts like hes a hero or something.

@thunderheart226 The documentary called "Dark Girls" is an example of racism even amongst Blacks. This was produced by Bill Duke, one of my favorite black actors, and that man Is BLACK. This documentary will make you want to cry. Do a search for it on utube, I'll upload it.
mudrake2 8 months ago
@mudrake2 hmmm im surprised from what i saw.i guess here in nyc blacks are very pro-black and very anti "the man" but that documentary hmmm i guess some older ppl still have that mentality. i mean not to be an ass but the best looking black women ive seen always were mixed with something. like mariah carrey or tyra banks.even maya is pretty good looking and that girl from that show "the office" had no idea she was half black.
thunderheart226 8 months ago
@thunderheart226 I actually think Whoopi Goldberg is an attractive black woman. I don't see "black" in women like Maya, Vanessa Williams, Beyonce, Mariah, I see white. I would bet they are no more than 1/4 to 1/3 black.
I see the Williams sisters, Serena and Venus as attractive black women. I've dated black women who were in my opinion unadulterated in their heritage and looked it. In fact I would argue that you could probably have told what region in Africa they were from.
mudrake2 7 months ago
@mudrake2
@mudrake2
Are you an idiot? Beyonce father is black and her mother is mixed. She is 75% black at least.
As for the Williams sisters what makes them a representive of black beauty? Nobody looks at Justine Henin or Lindsay Davenport as white beauty. Just because they're good at sports, doesn't mean they're good-looking you brainless bigot.
brightlights456X 7 months ago
@brightlights456X Did you fail fractions is school? Beyonce's mom if far less than half black, her skin is lighter than mine, and her father is not full blooded African either. Get real. Wishful thinking doesn't make it so. As far as who the bigot is, look in the mirror, watch the video, Dark Girls, about racism amongst blacks based on skin color. By your own words you reveal you are one of those people. What you find attractive in blacks are obviously the white traits.
mudrake2 7 months ago
@mudrake2
"father is not full blooded African either"

lets get real beside recent africans there are few blacks in america. most blacks r mixed whether they "look" it or not.

Chacha5678 3 months ago
@Chacha5678. im just saying whats going on in the black community as in about 4 generation we will be unblackened to the point of no return. im saying the black population is already mixed and with the fake one drop rule we will continue to look less black every generation. i mean its a fact native black americans are having less babies and mixing more w/ non blacks (nothing wrong with it). one drop rule concurrent with race mixing is diluting the blacks out of existence. pretty much like mexico
mykole84 3 months ago
@mykole84 if there's nothing wrong with race mixing, then how is this a problem? we're just people, it doesn't matter what we look like
Chacha5678 3 months ago
@Chacha5678. race mixing is ok but when in excess and when 1 group is the subordinate group it get complicated. take 2 groups native blacks and native amerindians. they both have many problems although the indian got it worse in that mixing with whites have made most native americans white and 2 non-american native american from latin america are replacing them. blacks have the same problem in that native black population is whitening and the remaining blacks will be non-native or their kids.
mykole84 3 months ago
@mykole84 I still don't see a problem here. You do know that people made terms such as "black", "white", "native american", etc. and that they don't really matter, at all. people put too much importance on them. this is why there's so many problems. it's so hard to see that we're all just people and it doesn't matter if you have a different skin color or hair color, we can still bond.
Chacha5678 3 months ago

she looks more black than white (same with rashida jones), and why she referring to herself and other as "mixed"..IMO that sounds lame like a colour paint (mixing colours), not the right term, sounds more like an insult and disrespectful...she should refer to herself as biracial, or multicultural
majiicpu3D 8 months ago
@majiicpu3D ...I don't agree that her and Rashida Jones look black at all....Are you black? Usually blacks are the first to say that someone who is racially mixed looks MORE BLACK than white....It's like you can't accept it that they are mixed so you have to emphasis the black within them more....the usual rhetoric...What are typical "Black" characteristics anyway? ...They look like they both have tans...that's about it!
exotiq88 8 months ago 2
@exotiq88 i was saying that they both look more black than white
majiicpu3D 8 months ago
Why is this called the Black List Project? Seems they're clinging to the old segregationists "one drop" rule. Why does Maya define herself as black when, truth be told, there is probably less Negro blood in her than Caucasian. I doubt her mother has unadulterated African genes. I had a great great great grandmother who was "high yellar" a quadroon, so by her definition of black, I would be black too.
mudrake2 9 months ago
@mudrake2 what is a high yeller, if i may ask?
jjjred1987 9 months ago
@jjjred1987 A quadroon, one quarter black. Someone who could pass for white, like Maya, if they chose too. In New Orleans where the French held sway for so long, the terms quadroon, octaroon is 1/8th black. In Maya's case i would say she is no more than a Quadroon one white parent and one mixed white and black. I'm probably only 1/64th at most probably less, but by the "One Drop" definition clung to by Blacks themselves, I would be as black as Obama. Who at 1/2 white and black is a mulatto.
mudrake2 9 months ago
@mudrake2 are you saying that black is strong in mixed people?
jjjred1987 9 months ago
No I am questioning why mixed race people cling to the black half, or quarter or eighth. The old definition from slave days was "One drop of black blood" and your were black, period, thats it and all about it.
I find it odd that they cling to that definition placed on them by the institution that enslaved them in the first place. Obama is not black, he is half black and half white. The black half got him elected despite the white half. No white could have been elected with those qualifications
mudrake2 9 months ago
@mudrake2 presidents in the past were white and they qualified! the way i see it it is either you are black or white! no hosipitals and whatnot would never make up a race like mixed! there is always a case to where people will say that black is strong!
jjjred1987 9 months ago
@mudrake2 Your ignorance is appalling, honestly. Being Black is more than just a genetic heritage. It's a cultural identity.
SaintPandemonium 8 months ago
@SaintPandemonium LOL cultural identity? Really? Really? What like hip hop? Ghetto chique? You have to be kidding. Your obtuseness is astounding if you think that is what this coversation is about. It is racism pure and simple. If whites tauted the white cultural identity, they would be called white supremists. The fact of the matter is a lot of mixed bloods, starting with the President grasp at straws. The President does not have a clue about black culture or what blacks are about.
mudrake2 8 months ago
@mudrake2 There is far more to Black cultural identity than hip-hop. That is one aspect, one RECENT aspect. If you did your research you'd know this. You'd know of the rich folklore and musical traditions, but since you don't, you just pander to foolishness. As far as I see it, whites can have their cultural identity, who's it bothering? (besides anti-white racists) In fact, whites SHOULD get more in touch with their ancestral roots instead of following "American culture" (whatever that is).
SaintPandemonium 8 months ago
@SaintPandemonium who cares about ancestral roots?why try to be something your not?(i.e an american) american culture is so rich. what do you mean "whatever that is" did you fall asleep during history class? americas culture even has its own wiki. there is so much to american culture like film music comedy Broadway food, holidays, sports so much crap =].why do people always make it seem as if usa has no culture or "life" and that "roots" is the right direction?
thunderheart226 8 months ago
@SaintPandemonium He grew up in Indonesia, and Hawaii, not your typical black neigborhoods. Contact with his "black" roots in Kenya were minimal. So how can possibly know anything. My whole point, which you missed is African Americans cling to the same racial definitions that were used to keep them down, and enbrace them as part of their identity. Sad and pitiful.
mudrake2 8 months ago
@mudrake2 Firstly, how in God's name do you know what his contact with Kenya was? Secondly, your "whole point' was skewed when you went on and on about how "The Black List" is racist. Your opinion is rooted in insecurity and farce. Thirdly, there are many types of African-Americans whose identities are, or are not, connected with their appearance. Perhaps if the media would stop hiring Biracials to play Blacks some of this madness would stop, but until then the one drop rule will persist.
SaintPandemonium 8 months ago
@SaintPandemonium and yes american culture is very unique its a mix of african european and everything else. jazz blues country rock its all a mix of different instruments and ppl. film broadway comedy sitcoms, and even southern food is a mix including native american as well we have a very rich culture how am i misinformed? i dont know which comment u responded to so ill just wait for your reply. im not even white before you label me an asshole like that dude mudrake2
thunderheart226 8 months ago
@thunderheart226 Jazz, Blues, Country, Gospel, Hip-Hop, Soul, Negro Spirituals...all of that is African-derived. It may have elements from other people, but the African power in is the dominant feature. Southern food has British and Native influences mostly, but Black Southern food ("soul food") is SO African, it's amazing seeing that cultural connection. Also, I never said you were White and was never GOING to say it.
SaintPandemonium 8 months ago

@WhereYaBoss Actually as long as we uphold the idea of race as constructed in the Western Hemisphere that is holding onto racism. If race which does NOT even truly exist can be created it can be ERADICATED. Race is NOT real. Racism is a problem because you have whties who perpetuate it and the very people that this construct of race is oppressing have upheld it and perpetuate fighting against each other.
chsn09 1 year ago
@WhereYaBoss We need to stop using terms like black and especially WHITE. Think about it. If there was nothing wrong with being black, which the social construct suggests there is, then no one would have a problem being called such.
chsn09 1 year ago

WhereYaBoss 1 year ago
@WhereYaBoss Let's establish first Jay's motives are driven by primarily by colorism. I've see him comment on biracial videos other than his own. But to the point..everyone seems to expect a biracial to automatically walk on water, when in fact we are all products of the construct. There are some very sick biracials out there without a doubt. Biracial is just proof that the idea of race is just a figment of time frame and perspective. The answer always ends up in a paradoxical loop.
army2k08 1 year ago
@army2k08 That's why I don't consider it "the cure" as some have suggested. I'm not going to separate myself from a biracial person because they have a white parent. That's crazy. Yet, some want to separate themselves from people like me because we have a few more ounces of "black" blood than them. That is more racist than any KKKish encounter I've ever had. When you start diving up blood count your just about at Hitler status to me. When a person wants their own community based on genes....smh
WhereYaBoss 1 year ago
@WhereYaBoss No no..not a cure..just a different actors playing the same role. Racism tends to evolve with the times. All I know is that a white supremacist may or may not be white.
army2k08 1 year ago
@army2k08 True, they may not be 100% but it's enough that no one can tell, right? Hey, you know what's interesting is when I say I don't plan to have a biracial child, some biracials get angry with me. But how is that different than the biracials who have told me they don't plan to have children with a black person? Isn't that the same thing? I actually encourage them to have children with their preference. Iif it's a white person all the better, if let's say the person doesnt like black folks.

@WhereYaBoss No, I don't have kids yet, but this ain't Imitation of Life circa 1934 or 1959.

WhereYaBoss 1 year ago 29
@WhereYaBoss I hear what you're saying and I understand where you're coming from, Nothing wrong with showing a little pride and awareness of your identity, but one word to me means something entirely different to you. Not it's literal translation but what is signified, the assumptions and emotions with one word. It doesn't mean the word is not true or that you're shying away from it. It merely mean you'd like to escape the box of that word and all that it carries with it.
Ahnyanka 1 year ago
@Ahnyanka, I understand wanting to get away from the "assumptions and emotions". But people who run away from the word fail to realize that it means a host of many other very beautiful things. So, I'm proud to say I m black. I also understand my mixed heritage. Yet, I notice that some people want all of the positives of being black, but none of the negatives. So they choose another label and use 'black' as a sidebar when it benefits them: Like when audtioning for black roles in movies or Ads.

WhereYaBoss 1 year ago
@WhereYaBoss Yes. EXACTLY. Maya Rudolph I heard has evaded questions about her black ancestry just like many others have. Thandie Newton does not consider herself black and she is from the UK but she plays "black for cash". It is sad and pathetic that people are only black for certain things or getting them out of being called racist or playing the race card when they bash blacks. So sad. And then they act like so called "black" people are pure blacks.
Corbin Bleu has even tried to pass. SMFH
chsn09 1 year ago
@chsn09
APGifts 1 year ago
@APGifts Yeah but a lot of people take them as fair skinned "blacks" in the USA. They may mention mixture. BUt it all depends. Maya Rudolph* and many other mixed actors and celebrities have avoided mentioning their black heritage or distance themselves from it.
chsn09 1 year ago
@chsn09 You're right! They do evade the question. I just saw Mark Salling do that on the Wendy Williams Show. They say they want to avoid being labeled. But as soon as a black movie goes into production they have the nerve to go to the auditions and have no problem taking a role from someone who doesnt mind announcing their African Ancestry. Thus, 'black' for cash. I really feel like black for cash has to stop.
WhereYaBoss 1 year ago
@WhereYaBoss This black for cash really does have to stop. I hate it how many mixed race people one drop black people and make them feel inferior as if they are pure black when in fact many so called blacks are more mixed than mixed people and the mixed people love doing that a lot but when done to the mixed people they are being racist and an afronazi?? WTF. Black for cash is ridiculous. THere are many more actors and actresses that partake in flaunting their black side like a cheap product
chsn09 1 year ago
@chsn09 Right and if I were Italians I would start standing up to some of these people claiming to be one of them in order to get out of being called black. I think it's a shame that many mixed people are hiding out as Italian as if Italians don't know their own people! They also pretend to be Puerto Rican and Cuban and it's not fair to those people. Why can't they just be who they are? They are so ashamed to be half-black but when it comes to getting paid to be black suddenly they aren't.
WhereYaBoss 1 year ago
@WhereYaBoss I see so many biracials hiding behind labels like Cuban, Puerto Rican, Italian. People don't realize those are just nationalities lol NOT races. They cling onto those national identities to get out of being called black because that nationality group looked down on their black heritage so they try to fit in and decide to NOT call themselves black. It is like they hate their heritage but they love it and hate at the same time when getting paid. I don't know how people can do it.
chsn09 1 year ago
@chsn09 Yes, one of my biracial college roommates went around telling people she was Italian until an Italian boy on campus confronted her in front of a fraternity house full of people. He said out loud "You're not Italian!" and everyone turned around. "Stop saying you're Italian when you're not." She was so embarassed. He asked her 'What's your last name? What area of Italy are you from?" Her last name was Fleming and she was from Astoria, NY. I think more Italians need to stand up to them.
WhereYaBoss 1 year ago
@WhereYaBoss Wow why couldn't your biracial college roomate just claim the white ethnic group she is a part of? That is sad and it only showed her reality. Vin Diesel has said he was Puerto Rican, Dominican, Cuban etc at times when he has a little bit of those heritages in him. I love when some biracials to get out of being black use the excuse "oh well you are what your father is" but then if their mother is the white one, they are like "oh I can't deny my mother either" so they can claim white
chsn09 1 year ago
@chsn09 See that's the thing. They should be able to claim their white side, too, but white people are not having it. My old roommate's father was supposedly a little bit Italian but mostly just Gringo. But see Italians aren't accepting fractions. Yet, they never do a video about that. There are all these videos that says "I'm not black, I'm mixed/biracial" but i have not seen one video that said, "How come white people don't accept me as part white?" And I'm not talking about family & friends.
WhereYaBoss 1 year ago
@WhereYaBoss Exactly.Im like why do biracials get angry if you accept them for being black. They want to say black people are being racist to them but claiming them because they are part black, and I am like this is not about claiming you as soley black but because part of you is what black people are and many blacks they seem to forget are NOT monoracial. Hence why they use the one drop rule to ODR blacks. Hypocritcal much. They want to be accepted as white but they try so hard and get no where
chsn09 1 year ago
@chsn09 They are racing in mud. The only way they will be accepted as part white is if they have kids with a white person and their off-spring has kids with a white person and that third generation looks completely white. Their GRANDCHILD would be accepted as white, but the thing is that grandchild would never let people know that their grandma or grandpa was half-black. They would keep it a secret. It's like they are racing through mud. And they want to blame us because they're not getting far
WhereYaBoss 1 year ago
@WhereYaBoss Exactly. It is like bi-racials mixed of black and white are angry that they are the only mixed race group that have to be lumped with black while other mixed race mixtures group can get to claim both of their sides lol. So in essence they figure they can't be considered white but then they realize that they can say they are not black as a way to come close to being labelled more towards white and they make fun of who black people look to deem them less black.
chsn09 1 year ago
@WhereYaBoss Many bi-racials will even associate with other groups and say blacks are racist and holding them back. They play this game so that ultimately they can claim their white side. Some pick and choose when to be black and get offended when you call them black but then when you mention to them about their ignroance of what blacks go through they throw the "I'm part black" at you so they don't feel schooled or that their intelligence is not insulted. One even said they look more white
chsn09 1 year ago
@WhereYaBoss I was telling this one biracial dude on YT. Talking about oh they are not black but then they go and claim every other heritage over the black and want to act as if they are not even part black and bash black people many times when the blacks could be mixed themselves and say oh blacks and biracials need to be split and set apart? Blacks are always the ones reaching out so why should biracials and blacks be seperated? It is stupid. At the end of the day white is exclusive
chsn09 1 year ago
@chsn09, there's opinions and then there's the truth. If a biracial person is part Black and part-White, that is there genetic heritage. That's just a fact. I don't like to be called Black OR White. I am both. I am proud of both. ... Also, you say "Blacks are always the ones reaching out". Not true. For every snobbish biracial person there's a racist Black person who won't accept someone biracial, no matter how nice that person is.
CheezInspector 1 year ago
@CheezInspector Please learn to READ everything before you post a comment. NOW, I understand that a biracial person is biracial no matter what. But my thing is biracials that will try to evade being called black or distancing themselves from people knowing about their blackness by saying things like oh they are Cuban, or Puerto Rican, or Italian so others don't find out they have black in them or African American in them. Most of the times blacks will have a biracials back
chsn09 1 year ago
@chsn09, read everything you said and unfortunately you made some pretty sweeping generalizations about two groups of people (biracials and Blacks). You can't throw everyone into a category as you did and expect not to get corrected.
CheezInspector 1 year ago
@CheezInspector LMFAO. Well if YOU READ everything that I had posted you will see why it may have looked that way. I have NO problems being corrected as I myself correct others. No problem/no biggie.
But ultimately a biracial person is seen as black. I DO NOT SUPPORT THE ONE DROP RULE, but I am just saying.
Do you not consider yourself to be black?
chsn09 1 year ago
@chsn09, it depends on what the biracial person looks like. Not every biracial person looks obviously Black. Even if that were true, the racist "One Drop Rule" is someone's misinformed generalization. It doesn't represent the truth of who biracial people are LOL
CheezInspector 1 year ago
@CheezInspector So, Is the One Drop Rule racist when you use it on black people, and latinos? Or just when it's used on mulattos? So-called biracial people routinely refuse to acknowledge the multiracialness of "black" people but call them rape babies. Even after they talk exhaustively about how historically the ODR was used for centuries in North America. If you acknowledge the presence of ODR, you have to also acknowledge that because of this, "blacks" on this continent are multiracial.
WhereYaBoss 1 year ago
@WhereYaBoss, yes, the ODR is always racist in that its usage requires that a person not be viewed in proper racial context. I don't care whether or not the person abusing the rule is mono-racial, biracial, or basically multi-racial. It's the rule itself that is racist.
CheezInspector 1 year ago
@CheezInspector My point is that blacks are not monoracial. When you call them monoracial you are in fact one-dropping them. Because of the historial use of ODR they are in fact multiracial. The only thing in the past that kept families together was the one drop rule. But now that mixed folks don't want to be connected to their black relatives, I no longer support ODR. I'm actually against the ODR and I think more black people should reject the One Drop Rule so that we can save our bloodlines.
