Well,

They were done in 3D, with Lightwave.

I'm not that good at it, but good enough for what I need it for.

I shot the shot, tracked the motion in Icarus, opened that tracking info in LW, loaded a few tanks, made them 'ride' a bit an rendered the frames.

I composited it all in After Effects.

The web is very good for finding tutorials on all these things, so you should try and look for some.
