It's all a roll of the dice. Or more like Russian roulette. If you make it through, good. If not, well, not so good. Then you die or get badly crippled for your country. Then watch as most or all of your friends forget about you. Experience the joys of neglect by the VA as they keep taking away your health benefits. Experience the frustration of trying to get just treatment, etc., etc.
I didnt know that all 3 of my messages went through until now. What do you want me to elaborate on? Are you on FB? I can write more and delete it after. I say go for it. It is the aventure of a lifetime. But have a plan. Also get the ASVAB from the library and take the test. Even if you hate it, it is worth what you get from it if you have a plan.
Get a good profession. Take thier college. See 24 countries. Meet lots of power hungry idiots. Study their body language. Take 4 classes in Psyc. Then Shut up. Also Dont marry a whore.
I was in. Good choice. 1. Pick a profession. 2. Go to college in your profession choice and get generals. 3. See 24 countries. Mac flights are free and military barrack hotels are cheap. 4. Dont marry a whore. 5. Watch all the personalities. take psychology courses, learn patterns and body. 6. Shut up. Everyones on a power trip there too.
The army has so many programs for college it's incredible. I'm using the army tuition assistance plan right now to pay for my degree. Basically I get $1,500 every semester to pay for my approved classes for as long as I stay in the army. Not to mention my GI bill when I get out. If you want to get a degree, but can't afford college, the army is the way to go. Expect to work hard when you sign up, but the army will take good care of you if you let it.
i thought i read somewhere that navy doesnt give money for college. do you know if thats true. also, in your case, can you use the money later after you leave the military, or do you have to take classes while you are on duty/stationed?
Sorry for dropping off the map. I joined the Army in November of 2007, and finished all of my training in October of 2008. I am now a specialist in the mos 25B. I started school and a family and I'm working on my packet for officer candidate school. I would have to say that joining the army was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
what u mean join the military? air force? special ops? what r u talking about? do u get paid good? good benefits? money to go to college? is it worth it? man come on dude i might go too so plz explain.
you seem lilke you wouled join the army, maybe navy but i think army. they are both generic bracnhes who will take anyone. If you are tough join the marines. If you are smart join air force. I dont know a thing about coast guard, really. I joined airforce and when my contracts up i will go coast guard. both branches have it good. I have respect for marines, but its just not for me. My strength is that I am smart, and I can help my country more in the air force.
Been in for a year, and it's been one hell of a ride.
I'm glad I joined, and I'm looking forward to another 5 great years. I may even re-up, if they still want me in 5 years. I'll probably be an officer by then anyway.
sptoless you are an idiot, the military is an amazing option, i took it and i am glad i did. it makes men out of boys and teaches you skills that not 100 years of college could teach you.
yes... you are stupid. i almost joined and just now changed my mind. the army tries to offer poor people a way out. don't buy into it. go to college. anyone can go and anyone can get the loans to go. be poor for a while and get the good job later in life. everyone has to go through it
If you don't get cancer and you're still alive in 3 years holler at me..If you get cancer from inhaling depleted uranium you just stay over there my mom had cancer and I'm worried about gettin'...I had some homies die from it too so don't come around me with that bullshit...
before you die you might want to think of what you done in your life to make a differnce. any ways fat ass besides bashing on ppl that want to join the military go think of wah tyou have done besdies sit on your ass an make stupid comments.
I've done plenty and I'm not done yet.I'm 5 foot 7 and 172 lbs.I'm not too fat a lot of it is muscle...I just want everyone to have all the information. If you're gonna join the military I say join the coast guard you can seize more shit and make some money maybe. My wife is an accountant for the coast guard.I used to be in the navy...I was thinkin about the french foreign legion before I turn 40 if they'll take me..Wouldn't know I got a rap sheet so I might be fucked.I'm 37;done more than you.
Coast guard? lol there a great branch. but they still go to war. there in Iraq. who the hell you think drove 80% of those landing craft in ww2 lol. you should read a book called life in the FFL. also your married. they don't really take married ppl. an you realize you can't go see her for 5 years. an if you do your really lucky lol.
The issue your in is the same for many people. Our Economy is going downhill fast (Major Mortgage companies failing) Oil is on the rise which is one of the reasons were there, so we can keep our Military Industrial Complex moving forward. This is just the beginning the war will continue and the bankers will continue to get rich. This is just another step towards a new world order. We are all one... don't you see? One Race the Human Race. The Christian Muslim war has gone on since the middle-ages
It's an opportunity to lose arm leg mind life. By joining you'll learn nothing useful except how to kill. Cant spend money if your dead. These people are defending there OWN country its not worth your soul. Coming from an X Army vet that has seen the light this is not an honorable war. Find some friends and get ready for 2012... The gov doesn't care about you, look up the "Georgia guide stones" Watch "Esoteric Agenda" Best of luck in your decision.
Your situation is much like myself, Im joining the Marine Corps for a couple of reasons but the shity economy has alot to do with it. My dad was Marine during nam so I kinda have the way paved for me but I have no problem fighting for my Country, but I would go in either the Marines or Air Force if I were you. You want the best training and great people to be around then you can't get any better. Plus it will make a man of you and you'll see yourself as a new person.
MILTARY is a good thing. it'll set you for life. but this war, well this war is bullshit. But shit , 5 1/2 yrs, i think this war will be over soon. This country is sick of war. Including right wing republicans. But it kinda sucks that the shitty economy is driving you to the service. I joined, well I had a decent life. I just joined only JUST to join. But hey, everybody has a different reason. True that. and good luck. Stay safe.
democrats voted for the iraq qar to ,when will the uneducated learn that the rep/dem are almost exactly the same these days its a big farce keeping left and right at each others throats while both sides are putting globalists into office
you seem intelligent man. i think the military will be good for you. you will get discipline. contrary to ignorant popular beleif the military wants thinkers and not drones who just follow orders.
Actually it's more of a career decision. I'm going into a technical field, and the Army is more than happy to pay me to learn everything I need to know. I get free training, self-discipline, meals, a warm cot, and camaraderie. In exchange, all I have to do is sign on a dotted line that says I'll do everything I can to protect you fine folks in any way I can.
What about college? Financial Aid gives alot of money, especially if you go to a state school. Or a student loan, take a part time job while you do that.
Thats what i did, was hard but i managed.
I hope you make the right choice, good luck to you.
I never finished high school, as I felt I was receiving an inadequate education, (see pinkyshow's "Scary School Nightmare") and couldn't resign myself to wasting time that is ultimately mine in pursuit of someone else's lofty goal.
By design, this is not allowed in a schooled society, so I am left with no GED, and no means to procure the same without signing over my life.
Jobs are scarce for those sans-diplomas, and GEDs are expensive for those without jobs ($175)
Not knowing you, my first impression was you were a college student shooting from your dorm, :), Well I understand expenses, i live in nyc and thers alot of jobs here but I know in alot of states its hard.
I think its worth it if you get the GED, you can go to a community college from there. Just my insight.
stupid decision
