  • Definitely one of my all-time favorites!

  • One of the best movies from Hammer. But the soundtrack wins. The most majestic and powerfull tune that could bring you a tear to your eye.

  • It was on Turner Classic Movies Halloween Oct 31 yesterday along with other Christopher Lee movies; well done horror genre of it's time.

  • the radical hippie 1960s...with some cornball stuff of having to believe in jesus in order to kill dracula---1960s teens really ate that stuff up.

also helped that the usa poster was simply of a woman's neck with band aids covering her vampire hickey.

  • is rated G

  • Poor Count =(

  • defeated by a shitbag priest. i want to see one movie where dracula finally wins.

  • @blento750

This one is more about the Christian faith. The atheist ends up believing & the faltering priest ends up finding forgiveness. That's why this one ends w/ Dracula being impaled by a cross. Dracula can't win, he's an archetype, not a person. Archetypes ring as false if you don't give them their just deserts. You want a more human Dracula than watch Coppola's version, but once again, Christian themes & Dracula are intertwined, so in order to win, he has to be saved/forgiven.

  • @blento750

Check out Night Gallery, Season 2. There is a great episode called "The Devil is not Mocked", in which a bunch of Nazis make the mistake of spending the evening at Castle Dracula.

  • The best Dracula ever...

  • @shirtgod Yes! Lee and Cushing made a great acting duo in the Hammer films! And the women who played the victims of Chris Lee's Count were drop dead ( pun intended) gorgeous!!!!

  • Christopher Lee ,Peter Cushing and Vincent Price, the best classic horror film actors to hit the big screen, they didn't have any of today's special effects, but they frightened a lot of people.

  • @Wolfspiderxl

For sure!!! Just epic stuff what they '' Played ''

  • @Wolfspiderxl

Vincent Price, Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, Lon Chaney!!!!!!!!!!!! All the Best horror actors in the World!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The were the best, the classics, the Kings of horror!

  • The (blood)sucker took a long time to die, didn't he? My favorite Chris Lee as dracula film was the first that began it all: "The Horror of Dracula!" Both Lee and Peter Cushing made a great pair in the Hammer Collection of Horror!

  • sir christopher lee was born to play dracula.he haunted my mind as a child for years.you never see his dracula films on t.v now..bless you mr lee your the best.

  • Christopher Lee is my all time favorite Dracula!!! I wish I could have the pleasure of meeting this incredible man! God bless Christopher Lee.

  • the best Dracula is Christopher Lee

  • Not your best idea, Dracula.

  • Christopher is underrated. He is a great actor.Best Dracula ever!!

  • Great sets, great acting on a low budget. That was the genius of Hammer Films. Let's hope the new Hammer will emulate their golden years. Most of their actors were of the Shakespearean stage variety.

  • I believe that there were seven films in the Hammer Dracula series begining with Dracula in 1957 and ending with The Satanic Rites Of Dracula in 1973.

I love them all despite the dodgy acting and sets.

  • best dracula ever ! mr lee is the king !

  • even this has a direct sequal, it's called "Taste the blood of Dracula"

  • who's the chick?

  • christopher lee irremplaçable DRACULA la grande classe de lee vampire aristocrate et sensuel dieu lui prete vie longtemps , normal

  • Christopher Lee forever! he always made you scared.

  • 01.32 makes me sad!

  • Hey it's you! <3

Me too... and I want to lend him my tissue as well ;)

  • Well, he's out for the Count...

  • It should be entitled 'Dracula Has Risen From The River' because he rises from a river - not a grave.

  • Well, a "watery grave" is still a grave! "Dracula Has Risen from an Aquatic Burial" just doesn't have the same ring, you know? ;-)

  • Thumbs up...

  • At least Draula came back for a sequel...

  • only to be defeated again. He stopped because he ran out of plans.

  • While I liked all of Mr Lees Dracula films I liked this one best! His Look in this film is brutal and animalistic! This film by far had the best score of any Dracula film! My favorite!

  • that was boring

  • man, my back is killing me.

  • lol literally! lol

  • thing is though it went through his heart :) if u look at it properly

  • Great Hammer, shame miss Carlson had a no nudity clause in her contract, i would love to see her tits

  • Great movie. This is the thirth part of the seriaI and for me this is the last good film of Lee´s Dracula. The quality of the following ones are much inferior.

I think it´s better than the first one, but not better than the second one, that is, in my opinion, the best one.

  • The last good film of Lee´s Dracula was the first one. All the sequels are boring and dull. The storys are awful. Take this one: the king of darkness, a powerful ruler that has commanded armys hides in the cellar of a tavern in a little village????? Well, Lee himself did not like this movies. He new why.

  • Christopher Lee as Dracula is # 1 i thought the death in this 1 was good but the movie before this 1 was slightly better and the expression on Draculas face when the boyfriend came too save her was like oh crap not this time lol

  • lol yeah and the look on Draculas face at 00:15 - 00:16 as he goes off the edge is like "SHIIT" lol, and also the part where Dracula grabs paul from behind and throws him towards the edge ya can see that he looks really pissed off by the way he throws him lol

  • lol at 00:14 - 00:15 secs the look on draculas face as if to say "SHIT!!" lmao

  • They ripped this death scene pretty much from the conclusion of The Return of Dracula with the superior Francis Lederer as the count.

  • Poor dracula

  • thanks for putting this up, great movie

  • Great Dracula Film

  • I don't care how bad the films were, Christopher Lee IS Dracula.

  • nah the films wernt bad at all!! they were classics! but i have to agree with you that Christopher Lee played the best Dracula! No one else would be able to play him better than him!

  • The problem with those movies was that they reduced dracula to a bit part.

  • @BonzoGal1980 Except the films were great. excellent acting, great gothic colorful sets, serious take on the subjects. All on a modest to low budget. What's not to like?

  • And this is also one of the best movies along with "Horrors of Dracula".

  • if u think 0.08 is evil then pause it at around 0.06-0.07 the anger look on his face! and i think all lees dracula movies are brill!! he played the best Dracula out!

  • lol u can just imagine what dracula is thinkin when he lifts his head up and bloods cumin out his eyes! the way he looks and his face u cud imagin him sayin "i thort u was on my side u bastard" (to the priest)

  • Owned.

  • HERES THE WORDS TO THE PRAYER THAT THE PRIEST SAYS: Pater noster, quī es in caelis Sānctificētur nōmen tuum; Adveniat regnum tuum. Fīat voluntās tua Sīcut in caelō et in terrā Pānem nostrum cotīdiānum dā nōbīs hodiē. Et dīmittē nōbīs dēbita nostra, Sīcut et nōs dīmittimus dēbitōribus nostrīs. Et nē nōs indūcās in tentātiōnem; Sed līberā nōs ā malō. Amen.
  • what does that mean?

  • what does the prayer mean?

  • the prayer is the "the lords prayer" in latin :)

  • OK well you answered that. I thought that was latin. Thanks.

  • ur welcome, i love this clip though lol, when i first watched this movie and the cross stuck in the ground i just KNEW what was gunna happen! Dracula was gunna be introduced to it lol

  • and the reason the preist sasy it in latin is because thats the only way destroy dracula. If he said it in english then it wouldnt wrok, only the latiun version can destroy him cuz sum words of the prayer are different in latin

  • cool, thats very interesting. do you study religion or are you a vampire?

  • well i will be hinest i am half vampire as ibeen told by doctor. I can go in to daylight but i cant eat garlic or go near crucifix's . im not t he dracula where i go biting people lol. im only half vampire and i have the teeth!.

  • and plus i have lots of books of vampires mythology! and yeah i do study about it sumtimes and that. i know it sounds bizzare but its true! cuz ya can get real witchs. but lieki say im only half vampire, work think its great :)

  • Do you know what that means in english. I am curious. Thanks.

  • yeah its the lords prayer in latin

  • the our father

  • This my first hammer/dracula film I ever watched. It's my second fav hammer film. (First is Night Creatures/Captian Clegg)

  • 0:14 Dracula:DUUUUUUUUUUUUDE!!!.LOL

  • good ending

  • awesome

  • LEE is Dracula King! No one else comes close! Not even Bela.

  • Tru dat. Lee had the best gig in the world. Show up, get dressed, and play Dracula. Bela was great, but Lee nailed it every time.

  • This is not the best Dracula's film by the Hammer, but any of them have something interesting. Hammer have a kind of image world that is incredible.

  • in vampire films this days a cross burns a vampire instantly

  • the end when the credits roll gives me the chills.

  • This movie scared me a lot as a kid. lol. I was addicted to it.

  • What do you think of Frank Langella's Dracula? I think that he gave Dracula a much sexier edge in his 1979 movie. I thought that it was just....for lack of a better word...intoxicating.

  • I love Frank Langella's performance. I even saw him in Dracula on Broadway. But he is not dangerous like C.Lee is. Lee definately is sexy without blatantly showing it. That is why the movie version of the musical Phantom fails. All they tried to do was show how sexy Gerard Butler was, without any reguard to the character.

  • I still think that Frank Langella's performance is very sexy. He is rather dangerous and at the same time kind of vulnerable. You almost felt kind of sorry that he was unable to get the girl, so to speak. I don't know who this Gerard Butler is, but I'll take your word for it.

  • fred gre yuo gu light lo cagan a palus siemprre is re buludu

  • This is the best looking of all the Hammer Draculas. Great James Bernard score!

  • I like the effect where his eyes are just black pits.

  • The best Dracula I´ve ever seen.

  • Yeah !!chris was the best Dracula

  • yes i agree

  • Yes, he didn`t have much dialogue, but that`s one of the things that gave him his great "aura" in the part.

Chris is the best Dracula for me

  • Bela Lugosi is the best remembered Dracula, and even had more lines of dialogue in his one movie than all 7 or so of Lee's movies, who mostly snarled and growled his way through his.

Lee was not for pourparler, but was like a panther on speed. He's about the only one who could pull off fang baring scenes without seeming funny.

  • ""Bela Lugosi is the best remembered Dracula,""

Not true. Lee is the best remembered Dracula, especially in Europe (the home of Dracula). Comparatively few people remember the Universal one.

  • @ysbaddaden2003 If you want someone to look like Dracula, Lee is the guy. I've seen pictures of other actors as Dracula, but none come close to what I read in the book like he does.

  • @Cassimfan

Dracula in the book had more of a resemblance to Mark Twain, with thick wavy white hair, eyebrows that nearly met over the nose and a heavy white mustache.

Dracula also had pointed ears, long pointed fingernails, bad breath and hair in the palms of his hands.

  • Bela Lugosi set the image of an old, creepy romanian count. But Lee was bad-ass. Just look at his face!

  • i agree - a friend and I watched a C Lee Dracula movie - can't remember title - but it freaked the heck out of us - halfway through we opened up all the curtains and started looking for garlic and silver crosses !!

  • As you do.....

  • Absolutaly one of the bests Dracula movies ever made, Christopher lee is an excelent Dracula man , no one is better. And this is about after the movie The Horror of Dracula if you ask me.

  • "Absolutaly one of the bests Dracula movies ever made"

very true, and lee was the best dracula.

did you know that dracula has risen from the grave was the first movie to ever get an mpaa rating? the rating was G. i'm figuring it would probably be rated pg-13 nowadays.

  • Bela Lugosi was a comedy act and a caricature compared to Christopher Lee. He's largely forgotten. Worldwide, Lee is the most synonomous actor in the role.

  • Risen from the GRave is easily in the top three of Hammer vampire films with Prince of DArkness and Vampire Circus.

  • We love DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE, and we're screening it at year's SHOCK IT TO ME! classic horror film festival at San Francisco's Castro Theatre, October 5th-7th -- with special guest, actress Veronica Carlson, in person!

  • I grew up watching these Christopher Lee classics! He is by far the best "Prince of Darkness". Thanks for the great video and thank you Christopher Lee for sending chills down my spine on a late saturday night!

  • this movie was the very first movie to get a rating from the mpaa. and can you believe that the rating was G?

  • @sunshinesuperman9 You know what? The fact that a horror film (and I happened to find this one) got a "G" rating made me want to see it. I also agree with your other comment that it would be PG-13 today. I was surprised to find blood and gore in a G-rated movie, especially this scene. Today, there's no way that you could show impalements with bloodshed in a PG movie, let alone a G rated movie

  • @Tornado600 Granted, the actual impaling was off-screen, but you still saw someone who was impaled, and would not be G rated today.

  • If you really want to see the best Dracula ever (DRACULEA in its original way) come to Romania and ask about Vlad Tepes (Vhlaad Tzepesh). Listen to the wolves..what music they make :) Greetings!

  • Like the way the priest can add echo to his voice. This was a twist to Dracula films. "You must pray!". As if being staked by a cross wasn't enough. Still, Veronica Carlson was delicious as was Barbara Ewing.

  • One of my fave films. Many years ago I used to work for Tom (Chan)Chantrell who did a lot of the Hammer Horror posters. The poster for this film, Dracula's upward grimacing face, 'Chan' used a shot of his own face.

    Not many people know that.

  • BRUNIT NOT PRETTY ENOUGH

  • Yeah , I agree , Christopher Lee is the best Dracula ever.

  • One of my fave Dracula films. Christopher Lee rocks! Hammer made some of the best horror films ever.

  • The priest looks like Larry Fine of The Three Stooges.

  • omg! Dracula isn't really dead, not? he returns again... ?

Christopher Lee is the best Dracula ever! I know him from James Bond... :)

  • Also the star Wars movies.

  • How old is this thing?

  • 1968

  • I liked the first one, the one that's black and white, better, even though it's older, it's still scarier.

  • You must be talking about the Dracula movie with Bela Lugosi. The first film Christopher Lee did was "Horror of Dracula" and it was the best one he did. I would rank this one #2.

  • I just looked it up on imdb, to make sure I had the right names with the faces in my mind. Yeah, Bela Lugosi is the one I liked the best. This one just doesn't even look look, but I could be wrong, I've only seen 3:08 seconds of it. I can't believe Christopher Lee from the Lord of the rings movies is the guy playing Dracula here.

  • Well he did alot of british horror films.

  • Hi Meda01. That's how he became famous!
