  • Galician is an Ibero-Romance. It belongs to the same linguistic family of both Spanish and Portuguese so that's why it's very resembling to both of them.

    Then, there is another Romance spoken in the Iberian Peninsula -Catalan- but it's more resembling to Provençal and French so it's classified within Gallo-Romances.
