  • The photo is not St Pauls, but the organ is, (you can tell by the acoustic)

  • Well, in any event, it's a great performance of a very moving piece. Beautiful rubato.

    Thanks!

  • Would this be St. Paul Cathedral in some place other than London, given that the organ doesn't sound or look like the one in the British St. Paul? Care to enlighten us as to its location?

  • @a55b47

According to en.wikipedia actually this IS Saint Paul's in London organ and Andrew Lucas has been sub organist from 1990 to 1998, when the organist was John Scott. Besides the CD where this track is recorded is titled

"Organ Showpieces From St. Paul's Cathedral" by

    NAXOS label

  • @theprof1958 OK, I'll agree that the organ sounds St. Paul-ish. But the picture is of an organ case that I've never seen in St. Paul's/London. The London cathedral has a split organ case on both sides of the choir, & this picture is of an organ sitting (it seems) in the rear of some church. Likewise, the architecture visible in the picture is not similar to the architecture of the London St. Paul's. Check out some of my St. Paul's uploads (& those of jfsnail) to see the London St. Paul's

The organ pictured is that of St Paul's Cathedral, Melbourne, Australia. Harrison & Harrison of Durham restoration 1989-90 of 1891 Lewis organ. IV/53

  • @theprof1958 - you've put up a pic of the Lewis at St Paul's Cathedral, Melbourne (the slightly-smaller brother of the Lewis just across the Thames from St Paul's London at Southwark Cathedral).
