  • What an honour for the White House...

  • Astounding Bob pleading-on behalf of the people, inside the very walls of the White House: "Come senators, congressmen Please heed the call Don't stand in the doorway Don't block up the hall For he that gets hurt Will be he who has stalled There's a battle outside And it is ragin'. It'll soon shake your windows And rattle your walls For the times thy are a-changing"
  • What does he do with his left hand?

One of the best performens of this song EVER!

  • This is great. It amazes me how time and time again Bob Dylan is able to alter the arrangement of his songs to such wonderful affect.

I read a newspaper article about the White House performances and it said that of them all this was the worst of the night. But on hearing this I can only imagine that it was either a night of truly amazing performances or (as I'm inclined to believe) the critic is simply a tasteless moron!

  • Nice, Bob.

  • This is a better version than the original--his voice is like an instrument. Wow.

  • does anyone know if the guitar bob is using is from the 60's? it looks pretty old. It would be cool if that is what he used.

  • still pertanant, ain't it! Bobby!!dee man

  • And even a grin during the performance!

This perfmance, in this setting and these circumstances, brings tears and joy.

    Thanks Bobby

    Thanks Michelle and President Obama

  • wow. beautiful choice of tempo and phrasing.thanks

  • Wow, that's a really great performance of "The Times They Are A-Changin'".

  • Awsome!!!

    Just perfect. thanks for posting

  • beautiful performance.

one of the greatest artists of our time!

  • Aaahhhhhhhh, Thank you! Beautiful, Bob and Tony and piano player!

  • Yea Bob ! What an arrangement. Tony's bass part was awesome.

  • Just lovely. Very moving. It's a privilege to see this. Bob's looking well too!

  • Just lovely! Very moving. Bob's looking well too.

  • Beautiful version. I would love to see Bob do an acoustic tour!

  • MOVING

  • he sounds great, best version i have heard of this song.

    did he do another song?

  • @74horizons This was the only song he performed that night.

  • From the comments here my thought that the wisest people always listen to Dylan. With this performance and the other one recently on the History Channel sure wish he would take this idea on the road. At least one full tour sounding like this, it's my request.

  • to stablejelly. People always want him to do something other than what he does. I was lucky enough to be on the stage rail twice last tour, and they were both incredible. esp the Vegas gig. He sounded wonderful.

  • It's almost like a book-end performance. The other ones being from the 1963 Civil Rights rally.

  • Beautiful. Beautiful. Totally perfect for the occasion. So poignant.

  • Fantastic performance and Tony is really cooking on the bass.

  • here's the answer to all those who said that Bob Dylan can't sing or has lost his voice. This version is the best version of TTTAAC that will ever be heard... absolutely breathtaking.

  • This is astonishing.

Looks like Tony Garnier on bass, but having a piano accompaniment is brilliant. It's understated yet powerful. An older man commenting on a changing world just like he did nearly 50 years ago, but this time from a different perspective.

  • Mr. Dylan has once again proven with his poetic words, prophecies and a soul-stirring performance is so much more than simply "the voice of a generation".

For the Civil Rights Movement-the words sung by Bob are as meaningful now as they were then-and always will be.

Thank you Bob...and to all that heed the call...Let Freedom Ring.

  • He has repeatedly said he is not a prophet or "the voice of a generation". He despises being called that. Hands down he is one of the great artists of our time. Our generation has been characterized by greed, arrogance and immorality - why would Dylan even consider being their spokesperson?

  • topboss,

Prophets never step up and say they are a prophet. God bless him for singing that song to the congressmen and President.

As for our generation. Im not greedy arrogant or immoral and Bob did sing outloud the thought I wanted to say. Makes me feel Im not the only one. Love him sooooo much.

  • SUPERB! Bob on acoustic guitar again!

  • Nice one Bob.

  • Beautiful performance. Amazing to be able to stand in front of "senators and congressmen" and to tell them to get out of the way if they can't lend a hand.

  • love to see this version on tour

  • This will stand for centuries as a definitive Dylan performance.

  • NOT ENOUGH!

  • How could you not try to change toxic washington after hearing these words from Dylan. True Legend.

  • Times are changing, politics are not.

  • Excellent point! You're not fool!
