If you're an objective person with taste, you realize this blows. If you're a hipster dweeb who likes anything as long as it's noisy, is performed by cute girls, is on a certain label, and hasn't a chance of popularity outside his/her bedroom, you love this.
@TimmyAndTammyScumbag Yeah, they're a real hipster fad alright... I mean they've only been performing for 20 years, they've only released 10 albums and dozens of singles, they own their own record company... and they've only toured and opened for Jim Rouke, Mr Bungle, Tool, the Melvins... seriously...
Love this cover as well as Uncontrollable Urge! Seriously, Lost Parts Stinging Me So Cold is one of those songs you HAVE to listen to live. Well worth the partial hearing loss afterwards!
i adore Melt Banana's energy and songs. yes, some of their stuff can grate, but songs like Shield for your eyes... and Spathic are absolutely awesome. i don't care what anyone else thinks, i think they're fantastic.
i want to see them live more than any other band atm
Watching Melt Banana a few months ago was absolutely shocking to see just how great a band can get... They tired out the mosh pit for Jeez sakes!!!! And talk about GREAT musicianship... MB are far more than 'button pushing' as many ignorant people believe
I remember these guys now! Y'know, they're relatively weak for them to be noise punk, or noise anything, really. The guitarist's tone is absolutely terrible! The synth is cute, and I guess that adds to the novelty of the entire group, but I just can't get over anything else about this group.
The fact of the matter is - is that MB are in a genre all their own... the guitar player for MB is a true virtuoso and seeing MB live - wow what a pleasure as he knows every single centimeter of his guitar and exactly what buttons to push at the perfect time to get their desired sound that at times sounds like sonic booms and drills unlike any other that I have ever heard... MB scarcely improvise and most IS note for note - now find me a virtuoso that even comes close to what MB does
Is he truly a virtuoso then, or is he just well versed on what he plays? I mean, you argue that he has the skill to improvise anything, it seems, but then go to say that they scarcely improvise. It's going to be great for you when you find similar musicians that offer more variety. You're going to be so happy.
virtuoso's are always well versed in what they perform practice and play and MB guitar player does not completely shackle himself to that drill bit sonic boom outlet and move wayyyyyyy beyond that same old thing into other genres... But I know you already know that as MB just can not be ranked into any specific genre - yet... It's all there when you click on their videos here on youtube... Variety??? There is a lot of variation from MB
Yeh you're right. I listened to it again *gulp* Jesus this is annoying! I still don't get it. It could be a cool band if they ditched the stupid childish synth and the *ahem* singer..
Annoying is the point isn't it as Melt Banana never pretends to be anything but themselves unlike worst bands of all time such as Pearl Jam, NIN, Korn - only to name a few... Yep, Melt Banana puts to shame ALL Heavy / Black / Death metal to shame and there are many that would agree with that... the 'childish synth' can be easily attributted to Nirvana, PJ etc etc...
As for Pearl Jam and those sort of bands I couldn't comment on their use of synths because i'm not into that L.A rock or whatever you call it. I do like the odd Nirvana tune though. I don't see how you can compare Nirvana to this. Melt Banana (how's that for picking a name out a hat!?)sound like the guys who wrote title music for BBC kid's TV in the early 80's got together and went mental with some guitars and a Casio home organ... which is an interesting concept.
Well, lets be honest here, there's really no comparison to anyone when it comes to Melt Banana that I have heard as originality ranks supreme - if you believe there is, send em this way!!! Sure there's no comparrison to M.B. to Nirvana except that MB does what they want, how they want and when they want where as Nirvana - the worst band of all time - did the exact opposite and tried to appease their catbrained audience and thus became commercial sellouts + a whole lot more...
That seems sensible. I don't go for saying that a band is 'the worst band in the world'(unless I said it about this band and even then I CAN think of worse. Hah!). Someone who considers themself to have a sophisticated taste in music does just that - considers the point themself ... which is fine, but who's to say what is good and bad? To me this is not great music. In fact I don't even remember why I listened to it in the first place... Maybe I was looking for the superior Blondie version.
Melt Banana are just about as sophisticated as it gets where as idiot bands such as Nirvana - the worst band ever - are as routine as it gets with absolutely no imagination among many other serious problems... We all know what bad bands are - bands with no integrity nor passion - aka Nirvana and it is from the truly awful that the good and great can be measured... take care...
...given that your opinion of Nirvana seems to be so low and Melt Banana so high where would you place a band such as The Beatles? ...Hugely commercial but(in their day)integrity/innovation/passion by the shed full. I am trying to get a sense of perspective here.

This is where I draw the line between art, and sucking ass and calling it art.
I tried to see the good, but I just didn't find it. I hate this cover so much.

There's no synth in this song, it's just well orchestrated guitar effects.

MxBx are too original for most people to understand, that's why when they played the TOOL tour they didn't go down well.
TOOL must be on of the most generic bands there are.,,
