I've just discovered this tune so I'm trying to see all the versions. What astounds me is that you have three guitars and the least singer doesn't use his as prop. He appears to carry the spiky arpeggios (and the unison-voice whole-tone meltdown), the Les Paul seems to get most of the chordal meat, and then the effects-box-laden SG takes punctuating stabs and glides. And they're all really well synched-up in a song with such a diversity of sections and time changes. I wish more was like this.
Edit: least = lead

Drop G? The lowest I'd heard of before was Drop C (CGCFAD)... Someone Explain?

It's not proper Drop G. It's:
GGCFAD

Actually it sounds more like F# to me. Which is the standard on any 8 string. Sounds like a Meshuggah track to me
bigjobandlongman 3 years ago
mike cites meshuggah as a band influence in an interview.

The working title for the track was simply "Meshuggah", it was on their setlists the summer before Frames was released.
