Interesting video. I can imagine that part of the flight had to have been a bit bumpy! I have flown through quite a few thunderstorms myself as a passenger.
it depends what stage it is at, the most turbulent condition exist at the developing and mature stages as there are strong updrafts, and in the mature stage there are both up and downdrafts. you would most likely want to be above the storm not in it.
My understanding is that turbulence in these powerful t-storms is fairly weak once you get into the very high altitudes of 40k feet and above in general...as long as you are near the top of the storm you will mostly encounter fairly moderate updrafts or downdrafts but nothing to violent (such as windshear).
Or does it depend on the storm? Certainly you wouldn't want to fly through a superstorm that is over 50k ft at an altitude of 40k. The top would still tower over you more than 10k feet.
Ive seen CB's go up to FL670 +.. Downwind side of cell can carry hail out from the topside of the cell. (anvil) In general stay far far away from all CB's !
Hola, aqui XB-EGC, reportando: Nice Video, I think any one that likes Planes and realy loves to Fly would not care if its good or bad, its just an Inflight video that shows the view from the Pilots eye. I love TS,I like CB´s, but when I am at land.. Any one can be a pilot in a Sunny Day......Saludos, Edgar Guzmán desde Monterrey,NL
Well Payne Stewarts plane was Number 60 but on the Lear 35 line.. The plane i was flying was Model 60 but in the Lear 23/24 line. so its much older than the Plane that Payne Stewart went down... I actually looked it up, i didnt really know. You learn something new everyday
yeah a fighter jet followed it for some time before it crashed.. Anyway you must have a blast with that job ... Kind of deciding which direction to go in flying .private fix-wing and helicopter ...
Its the Altitude alert... It means we where 300 feet more than the altitude we where suppost to be at. and since it was pretty strong turbulance it was moving us like 500 feet from our altitude.. And it was a Lear Jet 24 its number 60 in the lear line so its pretty old...
We were climbing around some wicked stuff a year or two ago in a 25D and they vectored us into some of the "light stuff" and flamed number one. Got to love those CJ610's!
Had a friend enter a thunderstorm in a 210 at night. Lucky it did not tear his wings off. It was vomit city and screaming passengers. No color radar or storm scope. Dumb... Could have been deadly.
where are the thunderstorm?!

i would love a lear just to fly to fly around clouds it would be so fun lol
if you own a lear and you have a pilot/are a pilot ect. can you fly it whenever or wherever you want?
mpbdes 4 years ago
Of course you can. If you can afford a lear, you more than likely can afford the fuel.
You can fly one of these any where you can a cessna but farther.

Are you kidding, most Cessnas 172s and 152s are older than that.

there's DC-9s operating for Northwest airlines that are older than that

haha yeah. Those things are ancient. I see them operating in and out of JFK every day. I wonder if they'll paint any of them in Delta colors.

Just curious what altitude you were at. Looks like some pretty high tops. Hate having to brush those tops in the high flight levels!
