@shakuvendell Soldiers train to be obedient. Most are sheltered and hate civilians in a special way. I know bc I served, and I never used a live gun, never really had any training besides standing in muster and having shiny boots and fresh looking uniforms. I quit bc I wanted to fix things, not support the murderous ringleaders out to make profit from war. They wanted me gone, because I asked questions, and have a mind of my own....forbidden in the military.
@infinitewobdrahpa you were probably at a military school. I've got a friend here who served with several branches, and who's company was contracted to fight in afghanistan. He has experience that disagrees. as per creative thinking, it is EMPHASIZED by the military, as an unthinking drone would not be as effective in unforeseen circumstances, which, btw are commonplace on today's battlefield. I think you were probably BS-ing anyways.....
@wararrows They have heavy artillery, F-22 fighters, and M1 Abrams tanks, and the weapons needed to take those out simply aren't available to civilians. How will you fight an F-22 if it is launching missiles at you from 50,000 feet up? How will you take on an M-1 that you will NEVER scratch with civilian firearms? Look, I'm not saying don't fight. I'm saying don't go spraying bullets Rambo style. You need a strategy! organize! you're not fighting other civilians here.

What I have learned, from years of military service is that I have a much better grasp of the pulse of todays military man. We were instructed to disobey any unconstitutional order and place said officer who issued the order under arrest. Most of my friends are still active duty and they feel the same way. To a man, they all think this discussion is paranoia run amock among the uneducated masses. You run your mouth, but I doubt you have heard a shot fired at you in anger.
@ProfDeth That is a survey, not real life. Have you ever pointed your rifle at a human being? It is a whole new ballgame. I would say that number would drop to 25% in real life situation, which give us 75% turning their rifles on those following the order. Even if it were 48%, that is still a minority. They would lose. That and it is not like the civilians would roll over and play dead. The odds are solidly on our side either way.

Civilians have been conditioned to obey authority without question.

What I have learned, from years of military service is that I have a much better grasp of the pulse of todays military man. We were instructed to disobey any unconstitutional order and place said officer who issued the order under arrest. Most of my friends are still active duty and they feel the same way. To a man, they all think this discussion is paranoia run amock among the uneducated masses. You run your mouth, but I doubt you have heard a shot fired at you in anger.

I would say that number would drop to 25% in real life situation, which give us 75% turning their rifles on those following the order. Even if it were 48%, that is still a minority. They would lose. That and it is not like the civilians would roll over and play dead. The odds are solidly on our side either way.
