Watched that station since a kid in 1938 and through out the war. Cars pulling pumps. We had an allotment on Welford Road Rec now sadly Nelson Mandela park. When the bells went down everyone would stop to watch. How many owe their lives to that station?
i thought those dennies fire engine were all scrapped but obviously not. great to see a good bit of classic engines. Also isnt that siren from the London Fire Brigade?
Yes. Central Fire Station is the busiest fire station in the county and 1 of Leicester's 4 full time stations. The station holds 1 WRL, 1 PRL and 2 ALPS along with 2 specialist vehicles and driver training vehicles.
If you want the twin tone horn the watch this video on my area called Derby Fire show 2006 Vehicle Parade. plenty of two tones and a few bells as well :)
Thats what they call progress apparntly, you decide. there are still a few Uk brigaes and OIC's that use the twin tone, Mersyside still do, although they do have the wail and yelp as the american style siren is known, like wise msot applainces do have the twin tones, its whoever controls them (usually the Officer in command in the passenger seat) who will activate his prefered option.
Hey, that's an American Ford C-series apparatus sitting off on the side!! How did that get there? Judging from the height of the cab, it appears to have 4-wheel drive. Nice piece!!
Great siren, way better than the yelping ones

Which appliance was the Dennis SS standing in for?
firebrigade999 4 years ago
It stood in for the 03 reg scania they were running due to problems with the suspension so the Scania was sent back to TVAC for repairs.
