Asian cultures are very honor/shame based, and so they raise you in a manner that limits the shame you bring on them and on yourself, hence why they're very limiting.

Not defending it, but a lot of cultures raise children differently. "Asians" are raised with shame being the ultimate crime, especially when it reflects on your family.

What really makes me laugh in Destiny philosophy abouth swearing is that he is not considering its possible influence on changes in person character and future behaviour.
