  • What a brilliant, funny human being!

  • He's just so handsome in that nerdy way!

  • I wonder if it makes me feel any better if a 1 megaton bomb detonated over Sydney, the nuclear fallout won't kill me. But there is a chance that I might turn into a ghoul and roam the wastelands :D

  • What was WilWithOneL117's comment!!! i wanna know!! lol

  • @Makargo123 He said a quote from Einstein, which is, "I know not what weapons will be used to fight in World War III, but I know that World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones." but never quoted Einstein at the end of it, and had about 500 people reply to him that it was Einstein who said that, getting mad that he did not quote him. It was quite annoying (Even for me...) seeing 1/3 of the comment boxes being comments that only mentioned him not referencing Einstein at the end of it.

  • My previous comment is being removed, due to the fact I've been told things I already know about it repeatedly. Yes, I know its a quote by Einstein. No, it's not plagiarism. Enough is enough.

  • @WilWithOneL117 Wait, since when does Youtube listen to proper ethical values?

  • @romanlegions Evidently since they decided to troll me.

  • @WilWithOneL117 Double standards much?

  • hes a genius the fact that he says the third world war will last an hour and a half is completelly true with all the nuclear war heads taht countries have

  • @MrDyl666 Actually, tactical nukes are smaller and much more effective for strategic purposes. Doesn't make them good though.

  • well, that was fun now lets see, oh damn 1 hour 26 minutes and 49 seconds until the end of the world? meh i had a good run ^^

  • These songs remind us of how much we enjoyed the war. TEE-HEE!

  • One person still doesn't have a color TV.

  • This so should have been in Dr. Strangelove

  • WHO THE FUCK DISLIKED THIS VIDEO! >:C

  • Btw I meant Russia not eissia

  • I believe that he is refering to the Cold War as World War 3. If so, he has a fair point because on the Cold War, if a single nuke had fired the chain of events could have led to all-out thermonuclear warfare with Eissia and Germany with Britain as an uncomfortable ally. This would have dragged France and Australia into the war and it could well escalate from there. We really dodged a bullet with the Cold War.

  • @BuildItTutorials Several bullets really. The number of times that almost happened was pretty close.

  • ''So long dad, please don't feel bad, I might die, nothing to worry about, you could see me, on your tv, dont go pee, i don't want to miss any part of it!" (He probably will pe his pants after seeing a billion nukes go off in a minute :-D)

  • @NaplesStaples Ask Lehrer to put that part in, he could make it sound lyrical.

Come to think of it, Lehrer could make a song where every word was "puke" or "poop" and make THAT sound lyrical too.

  • @NaplesStaples hahaha eint that true. how terrible we humans dont you think?

  • Thumbs up if you want Tom to do ONE ... MORE ... SHOW! One more for the rest of us who missed him during his best times.

  • i love dark comedy and satire.

  • How did there get to be one dislike?

Hehe... World War III by popular demand :)

  • It will definitely be an hour and a half from now when the war is over :). I wonder if the nukes will blow each other up in midair and in space O.o.

  • Um no your wrong because Germany declared war on USA and noone else that offered freance a peace treaty and every other country

  • 1:13 and we will

  • Parts could fit in with the war in Vietnam.

  • I have the album "That Was The Year That Was", and I like that version of this song better, but the live view is worth watching - his smile and gestures are fantastic.

  • This video is now out on DVD. Please read the updated video description or visit the channel page!

  • @wilwithonel117 who said this again?

  • @narutoandavatarrocks I think it was Albert Einstein, but I'm not sure.

  • @wilwithonel117 ok ty!

  • @WilWithOneL117 World war four is the battle of our living dead.

  • @WilWithOneL117 That is one of einstein's word!

  • @WilWithOneL117 - Attribution should be given to Albert Einstein for that comment despite the paraphrase. Or you could cite Lord Mountbatten, "If the Third World War is fought with nuclear weapons, the fourth will be fought with bows and arrows."

  • @WilWithOneL117

    thats albert einstien

  • @jeffjan9 We know

  • @jeffjan9 I just wanted to thank you for being the 5th or so person to tell me that.

  • @WilWithOneL117 question for you: is that legally plagarism, or just morally plagarism? thats a quote by Albert Einstein, and you should put quotation marks around it and his name after it.

  • @WilWithOneL117 you forgot the qoutations and source: Albert Einstein

  • @LoveFiction You know, I've about had it with people telling me shit I already know. Yes, Albert Einstein said that. No, I didn't put quotes around it. And you're about the tenth person to message me that. Please, just let it go, all of you!

  • @WilWithOneL117 Hey, at least you know they read your comment, right?

  • @WilWithOneL117

    Ol' Einstien said that

  • Wow, he was only 20 years ahead of his time with a televised war! Epic win

  • Shoop da woop! Go Lehrer!

    This guy is so funny.

  • even though I love this song very much but I don't want WWIII happen

  • You know, I wish people who didn't want WWIII would be more into the one thing that can stop it: reason.

Atomic bombs don't make themselves, and they don't drop themselves, and they don't load themselves into self-made ICBMs and launch themselves. To stop war, we will have to fully embrace the one tool man has for survival, and actually apply it to that survival on a large scale. For too long, it has only been the exceptional people who have done so.

The masses need to learn this lesson.

  • @GoblinKnightLeo Sadly people don't like to be reasonable. The British and French attempted to reason with Hitler, and we all know how that went. The United States attempted to reason with Japan at the same time, and with a peacetime military was unable to convince the Japanese to stop its aggressive motions. These countries weren't being led around by the masses, rather they were being led around by a small number of charismatic seemingly reasonable men.

  • @korrde While I don't know about the first, you have the second one backwards.

The moderate Prime Minister of Japan wanted to negotiate with the US after we cut off their oil. Our own diplomats urged FDR to enter talks with Japan, and he refused. That PM was soon replaced with Admiral Tojo.

And what I meant was that the masses need to ask more questions of their leaders. They need to reject leaders whose thinking stops at Stage 1.

  • @GoblinKnightLeo You're not going far enough back, the United States attempted to limit possible confrontations almost immediately following World War I with the Washington Naval Treaty, the British the same with the Arms Limitations Treaty at around the same time. The US refused to talk to the Japanese because it was visible that the militarists were leading the country while the civil authority was sidelined. The invasions of Manchuria and China were not sanctioned by Japan's government.

  • @GoblinKnightLeo Leading off of what I just posted, Tojo was appointed in order to grant Imperial authority to the war. While war with China could be ignored since China at the time was a mess of different warlords, the US was a united country which could not be ignored by the masses in a war.

  • "World War Three is almost upon us, by popular demand, it seems..." Lol, that is just epic win. When WWIII does happen, I will sing this song to my children : )

  • "remember mommy im off to get a commie so send me a salami and try to smile somehow! ill look 4 u wen the war is over... and hour and a half from now" XD this song was hilarious to me and bro

  • Wish it was longer.

  • That's what she said..

  • It's too long for a time span for another sequel, this time they'll just remake it. So not world war 3, just "The great war."

  • huh ???wwIII???

  • World War III seemed to be very likely back during the Cold War. It would have been fought with nukes, most likely. That...would have been bad.

  • All the twelve Tom Lehrer songs from this channel have now been republished in better quality. Click the Lehrer icon or the username, go to the channel and select one of the uploaded HQ-versions :-) Don't forget to click the HQ-button.

  • @6funswede Do you by any chance have access to a more "enthusiastic" audience? All of the people in the audience from all of these songs during this show, as you have said, are Norweigan and don't have the comprehension. Can you get a version with a better audience, perhaps American?

  • lies WW3 happened

WW5 was just so massive that it encompassed WW3 and WW4

  • ww3 is just a myth

  • my birthday is one day after his

  • He is too cool, omg!

  • Excellent.

    5*****.!!!!

  • I certainly hope we've all got HD when we eventually get around to having World War III.

  • I just have to say, possibly the funnies satirist of that age. I think Jon Stewart beats him now, but he is still amazing.

Also, he endorsed Obama during his campaign, so he's still alive. GO DEMS!!!!!!!!

  • davezilla1995, thanks for your comment. Tom Lehrer has said that he enjoys Jon Stewart (and I do too) but, to me, Lehrer was a finer satirist because he is also so musical. As for the rest of your comment it's totally true: Lehrer endorsed Obama and is indeed alive and kicking. He also said OK to the posting of these twelve video gems, so spread the word :-)

  • lol kool. i believe he will b turning 81 this year. and i wanted obama to win but i never knew that he ENDORCED obama! awsome XD

  • Tom Lehrer Is a life?!?!?!

  • i agree. tom lehrer is WAY better than jon stewart. Lehrer never uses foul language. GO LEHRER!!!!

  • Grow up. They're just words.

  • Songs are 'just words' set to a tune. The wrong words can ruin it, foul language usually does just that.

  • If you're immature, I suppose.

  • ignorantpom, yes, definitely not bypassed the stage of maturity.

  • Thank you for your support, 6funswede.

One day we will enjoy a world free of religion and people who use anti-swearing jargon as a means of manipulation and suppression.

They are just syllables strung together after all.

  • he said you could use these videosO-o? in a meassgae?

  • Writes genius lyrics, plays the piano so well you don't notice, is a top-flight Mathematician... and kinda cute, even if he is 80-something...

    Wow!!!!

  • I love how he says "I hope that by then we all have color t.v." with such a cheeky grin! He's so sexy in those glasses too...

  • I would.

  • April 2009 - 6funswede YouTube log. Errors July 2007-April 2009. "Pollution": Sound deteriorated. "When You Are Old And Gray": Video stuttering. "Send the Marines": Video stuttering. This is ALL YouTube errors, have written to them, but I don't expect any answers. Viewers: PLEASE use the annotation boxes with links in the videos.

  • This would be great in Fallout 3. Tom Lehrer radio instead of the enclave. ^^

  • You know, I thought exactly the same, when I played the game. "We will all go to together when we go" is even better for it ;-)

  • Agreed!

  • maybe theyll be a 4... and we can send in that suggestion... dual heaven

  • I just said that to someone else and then read your comment! Ahaha!

  • I sang this in a high school revue in 1982 and the song was still entirely relevant then except for the Brinkally and Huntally bit. I substituted this lyric: "While the world is in a lather/don't forget to watch Dan Rather/and the news that he will gather/On the cities we have lost." I'm not sure the song would be relevant for a high schooler to sing today, even changing the anchors. Maybe they could do Masochism Tango instead (they wouldn't let me do that one in high school).

  • I think its just as relevant today unfortunatly

  • Tom Lehar was a genius, I really enjoy his songs, he is my favourite. Thank you so much for posting this !

  • "Was"???? Lydalice, the reports of his death have been greatly exaggerated! :)

  • Thank you for this new version, I enjoyed it very much. Mr Lehrer's introduction was a gem and I found that your video gave the performance a little added life on the screen. Nicely done.

We really need more of his ilk.

  • SolarGranulation, true, we do. There are a few people doing musical comedy, but they're no match for Lehrer. All messages with "thank you" should be for Tom Lehrer himself. It's because of him that the twelve video recorded songs stay on the channel of "6funswede" :-)

  • I'd be happy to thank him if only I knew where!

  • Ah, he was such a genius. I wish he was still out there singing and playing and stuff, he'd have a field day with the state of the world today. He could probably rhyme anything if he felt like it.

  • He's not dead, he's just not performing anymore.

  • Ah, I never said he was dead. Just that I wished he was still playing. How old IS he, anyway? Like, 80?

  • 81, I believe.

  • hairwire, true, Lehrer was born on April 9th 1928. Thanks for watching. Visit the channel front page to access all the twelve video gems and some useful Tom Lehrer links. The channel is Lehrer only :-)

  • Will Tom Lehrer ever change his mind about not writing new material? We can only hope.

  • nibelungensohn, thank you for your comment. No, I don't believe he will. Try to visit the channel's front page, and then click on the link to the supporting website. You'll be able to read why Lehrer hasn't published any songs for many years. Lehrer would not enjoy the attention following the release of new material, and, after all, he is 80 years old. Take care!

  • tom lehrer is the greatest musician who ever lived

  • tenaciousDwereighn, thank you so much for this comment!

  • I like this guy even better than Weird Al, and that's saying something.

  • coorperationtshirt, really? Thank you! On Dr. Demento's radio show, Lehrer used to make "the funny five", behind Weird Al (who was always on top). But personally I'd have Lehrer on top, Weird Al in second place and then maybe...Frank Zappa?

  • First off Thank you to Mr Tom Lehrer for allowing this channel to be shared, I already sent it on to my dad (Another big fan) But as far as funny singer writers go it's Lehrer, Weird Al/Stan Freberg tied for second then Allan Sherman, followed by Ray Stevens. But I might be off there. Frank Zappa was not comedy but some of his stuff was hilarious!

  • Only Lehrer could rhyme 'Armageddon' and make it work. Brilliant.

  • eversoplucky, yes, Lehrer truly enjoys playing with words and rhymes, and he really knows how to do it. Visit the channel's front page, go on to the supporting website, and listen to Tom Lehrer presenting his songs (and talking) on radio. You're in for a nice surprise :-)

  • My personal favorite satirist, truly a man of brilliance.

  • zutro1, thanks, he is my favorite too :-)

  • Very nice video, thanks for putting it up.

  • Brilliant!

  • Widescreen, cool!

  • Well, it will be available in high(er) quality in one hour :-)

  • I can't express enough gratitude for what you've done here, I love these songs and it's nice to see him perform them live.
