Automatic mechanical movment in a skeleton watch, for $26: yes, I'll buy that, even if it's Chinese and probably with not last more than 1 year.
But please try next time stay true to what a watch it and at least to copy a better design: loose the useless second dial and tachometer scale - they both say that the buyer is more impressed by the blinky stuff that the movment itself.
So: keep the movement, make a reasonable dial and case and I'll think about it.
how about its reliability. Is this Japan or China watch? Will it crash soon or not. As i know it isn't very expensive watch, about 40$, and it's scares me. Answer my questions please.
Ok, this is useless. The Tachymetre bezel, is ONLY functional if you have a chronograph... How the hell are you supposed to time anything else? Also it has a seconds frame on the left (0-60), WITHOUT a seoncds hand...
There are good asian watches out there, but this is just made/designed by someone who clearly didn't understand anything about the functions of a watch..
Haha I know who disliked this, someone who thinks that a label is more important than having a good watch, while they live in a world of prefabrications lol. Thanks for the video man, I love my watch and don't care to spend more than I need to on a beautiful watch.
@juaninaka1990 There is a clear disk on the top that covers everything, it is half polarized, hence why it changes from black to visible skeleton (i got the ghost mystery watch).
has anyone seen any video's or real user pics of the watch that looks identical to this but with a gold mechanism. if anyone has just message me the link plz
It doesn't do anything, it's only there for show. They decided to put the numbers around the balance wheel for no reason... guess they figured it looks better than just a plain black circle with no numbers in it! Or maybe it's their attempt to make the watch look like it has a tourbillon, but as you can see, it doesn't have a tourbillon (because the balance wheel holder does not rotate once per minute).
@pr5owner if you buy a automatic watch for $20 CAD I wouldn't expect it to be accurate, it probably would be incredibly thick and have a horrible power reserve as well. That being said there are great automatic/mechanical watches that are accurate. Examples like the Jaeger Lecoultre Gyro Tourbillon or the Rolex Oyster perpetual, those watches are no thicker than you average Joe's watch, just as accurate, damn nice and costs a few thousand.
@rusher101 sorry but if you are buying a watch for accurate time keeping, mechanical sucks in all cases, an atomically synchronized digital watch will destroy any mechanical in terms of accuracy.
my pathfinder titanium watch hasn't lost 1/10th of a second in over 2 years, not only that, i never have to change with DST or anything, its all automatic.
@pr5owner I never said they were as accurate as an atomic watch or a digital watch that automatically updates. I said as accurate as your average Joe's. A automatically updating digital watch is not the watch everyone wears. The reason they are roughly as accurate in my opinion is because not everyone sets their watches to the same time. I'm sure you have had instances where 2 people have had slightly different times. Although mechanical watches are usually only good for 2-3 seconds per-day
@rusher101 You must have some loose nuts in your clockwork. You are looking at a $20 watch and suggesting a rolex which is more then $10,000 or a Jaeger Lecoultre "Gyrotourbillon" which is +$350,000.
And everything put aside, when you pay a few thousand, you are not buying the watch for the accurate time keeping but you are paying that money for self satisfaction and a sign of high social status.
$20 Watch is a good way of suppressing the appetite for watches and you get what you pay for
@pengasus I never actually said that people would buy them for accurate time keeping, I was being a troll and simply pointing out that there are mechanical watches that are accurate against his point that "they suck in all cases" . I said right at the bottom that those watches cost a few thousand. Also I do agree with pr5owner that people buy any mechanical watch to feel rich. Much like your point about people who buy a Rolex or any other insanely priced watch, which I also agree with.
Either you get it or you don't. If you don't get it then no one can explain it to you.
If you want to make a blanket statement about people who prefer a mechanical watch then someone could do the same about someone bragging about having a watch which is ultimately accurate.
If you are not an astronaut you don't need that kind of time keeping.
A mechanical watch is simply a thing of beauty which also does a job. Are they "better"? No... Neither are Harleys or muscle cars.
This here is not a good example of what a mechanical watch can be.
A great mechanical watch was built by a human and that is just a part of what makes it special.
Does an atomic watch tell time accurately? Yes... Because we all know how important it is to be on time by a fraction of a second. We all know how many people get fired for being fractions of seconds late for work...
A casio might have all the bells and whistles but one thing it does not... Class
atomic time keeping is not about being accurate to fractions of a second, its so you dont have to set your watch ever for anything, not even DST changes. its fully automatic, the calender is always in sync. also the trains leave exactly at 7:29:30 every single day becuase they have a large clock thats atomically sync'd, its nice to have your watch on par with everyone elses time so you know if you are going to make the train or not, being off by a couple minutes isnt acceptab
If you don't get it then it cannot be explained to you.
Still I will try once more...
Having a NICE mechanical watch versus having an atomic watch is like comparing a Duesenberg to a state of the art VW.
The Duesenberg needs more maintenance and being that it is a vintage car not on par with the VW as far as efficiency is concerned but driving it is an EXPERIENCE.
VW lets you be much more lazy and upkeep is minimal but it is sterile.
well first of all vw are mostly made in mexico and have a garbage reliability rate so no, i would not consider a vw to be "like" a reliable atomic ABC watch.
also the watch i have is ment for outdoor use (hence the ABC portion, altimeter, barometer, compass and temp), a mechanical watch wouldnt do jack to help you if your out in the woods.
as i said earlier, mechanical is for showing off, for formal occasions i have an omega seamaster as its more fitting for the occasion
who said anything about a TV and cellphone? maybe a gps to find your way back to the pickup point but the watch saves you space by not having to carry additional equipment (also has a tide and moon graph), which was why it was created in the first place. it actually serves a purpose.
a certain feel? i guess i dont get as emotional or connected to my equipment and tools. im certainly not going to cry over it if i loose it, after all, its just a watch.
You are the kind of guy who does get a mechanical watch to show off. But just because that is YOUR reason don't assume we are all like that.
You put on your mechanical time piece to go impress for a few hours and then you put it away without appreciation for what you have.
Someone who actually UNDERSTANDS the art of making a watch wears the genius, precision, mind power, time, thought, craftsmanship and quite frankly love that goes into that "thing" you only wear to impress strangers.
@MandyLionWWIII i think your getting too emotional about this whole mechanical watch thing, how exactly are you supposed to act when you have a mechanical watch? i dont actually show off my dress watch to everyone at a formal occasion, i have it on to go with the setup.
there is no "love" for metal gears just logic if it requires cleaning, you do it, if it requires winding, you do it. what kind of appreciation are you talking about? are you supposed to send a card to the manufacture? lol
@MandyLionWWIII you think more complications on a watch is for simple minded people? i had a long list of expectations when i bought a watch, it was far from simple, here are some things i wanted > Solar powered, li-ion battery instead of capacitor, titanium bracelet, atomic sync over 4+ bands, altimeter, barometer, compass, temp, tide graph, moon graph, chronometer, timer, sapphire crystal, min water resistance to100m, does that sound simple to you? function is always more important than form
My guess would be that if you saw a Picasso you would probably ask why this silly painting costs more than everything your entire family tree ever owned in total assets.
Laughing at people who actually DO understand the worth of the painting only does one thing. It exposes your ignorance about what you are looking at.
In order to understand the magic of a sophisticated watch you have to have some sophistication yourself.
Let's end this conversation. We will never agree. Take care
@MandyLionWWIII actually i would know its expensive because its OLD and famous, would i buy it? nope, serves no purpose to me,
i guess you wont understand the magic of a modern day sophisticated watch, you'll have to be up to date with technology yourself, oh well if you want to live in the past thats fine, Good Day
Being a professional singer I have to be up to date with technology. I have to have the best and latest of everything to be able to keep up with what is happening.
You are not even sophisticated enough to know what it is that you are missing. You are like a child that cannot understand how anyone could drink something as disgusting tasting as that 1,000 dollar bottle of wine.
Just own it. You are a simple creature with simple needs and zero understanding of the finer things in life
It is impossible to try and communicate to you what taste, class and being a man of the world is all about because you don't have the rudiments to even understand what I am saying to you.
You are happy in living in a smaller world with no sophistication and that is OK.
I don't blame you for not knowing as I already stated. I cannot be mad at a child for being clueless because it is NEW.
You are NEW. I get that. But don't poke fun at grown ups because it only makes YOU look silly

I won't discuss whether or not Mexican people can build a good car.
The point I was trying to make, which you missed, is still valid. ANY modern car is more accurate in handling than a Duesy for example.
But the Duesy has charm, class and a certain feel to it.
A real outdoors man can do without atomic time as they have thousands of years before the atomic watch was invented.
Are you the kind of rugged "outdoors man" who needs an an atomic watch, TV and a cellphone while "roughing" it?
MandyLionWWIII 1 year ago
@MandyLionWWIII

I agree with you partially...
A Casio is just a watch.
If you are a casio kind of guy then I see your point.
But there are some of us who appreciate true art, craftsmanship and detail.
Would I worry over losing a lifeless battery powered radio shack tool like a casio? Of course not.
Would I regret losing my quadruple tourbillion handmade one of a kind piece of human art and history watch? You betcha.
Like I said in the beginning. If you don't get it, no one can explain it to you

I repeat once again:
IF YOU DON'T GET IT THEN IT CANNOT BE EXPLAINED TO YOU.
Some people have refined taste and understand art, gourmet food and so on.
Some more simple minded people do not.
This is not criticism but a fact.
Some people eat to nourish themselves and enjoy gourmet culinary delights and some people prefer happy meals.
You are a simple person with simple needs. That is perfectly OK.
But don't put people down for having a more sophisticated understanding and lifestyle.

My mechanical watch serves me fine. I am never late and I travel all over the world.
I don't mind adjusting a piece of living art while sitting on a plane for 13 hours with nothing to do but try to forget that I have nothing to do.
A good mechanical watch can be extremely accurate. That of course means you have to spend some money on it. You get what you pay for.
