first time I heard this reciter was jan.1975 a month after my first haj trip.Dimashq Syria, sook alHamidieh out side a shop near almasjid alamawi,could not understand the words, but was inshanted with the voice. bought my first tape of him,been one of my favorites since then. Masha Allah, he takes from one faculty, adds to another.

God creates faces, but what a phenominal voice he has/had. I never heared anyone reciting holy quran with this pain and surrial way like he does.

Is it true dat dis qari was in prison???they say he woz put in prision by the egyptian government because the way he read the quraan was against some of da rules of qiraat....

I haven't heard that But i've heard that from a qiraat teacher, Antar recites very different. Only professionals should listen some of his recitals. But anyway this video is not one of them. Great introducing, powerfull voice, wonderful voice control. He is one of the most important alternative qari if you want to listen other than Abdussamed (ra).

Question brother: why was he controversial? His reciting his excellent. I think he should get praised not criticized for reciting like this.

Its not this paticular recitation brother, u should check a few of his other ones. But lets not argue about this. He is a great Qari. Sorry for bringing this up brother.

some people say that he breathes in the middle of his verse recitation which is not allowed in the quran recitation rules. But he's still my favorite reciter. mashallah.

That is not allowed??? Only if they detect it. You can pause on n or m,stretch it out, and breathe, and no one has ever told me that what I do is not allowed.
