Also, my opinion of Love Never Dies... is... well, it's not that good. I mean, I agree what you're saying. They're going way too far from the source material, Gaston's book, which gives us a pretty clear ending.
Even if Erik wasn't really dead (or maybe metaphorically dead to the world or something as beautifully poetic), it's clear that no one ever sees him again, so... there's not much ALW can do with it... it seems like it's just a way to use Erik to make more money, poor thing.
i've seen phantom and loved it, then saw love never dies over the summer and
LOVED IT EVEN MORE! don't write it off without giving it a chance, yes ok i'll give in that the plot is slightly far fetched in places but don't let that put you off, love never dies is by far my favourite west end show i've ever seen. the music is beautiful, the staging/production is unbelievable and the story is romantic and heart wrenching. please just give it a go! i really don't know how you could regret it! :)
